T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #433

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I am hoping that you readers have taken the time to lend a hand and donated to the JAIDAN STRONG cause for me. I’d really appreciate it if you did; as little as $5 can go a long way. If not, it isn’t a big deal but please at least SHARE THE LINK. I get that finances can be tough for some but taking the time to share a link via your social media doesn’t cost a dime. I’d appreciate it greatly as one of your friends or family members may be able to help out. Thanks.

BONUS MATT NOTE: Changes are coming. Changes are coming. Check out We Want Insanity's NEWEST CONTRIBUTOR Ralph Perez and more guest contributors in the coming weeks.

- RAW was a solid shot this week which was surprising. Hopefully they can keep the balance of solid shows moving forward. With that being said, there was one MAJOR flaw in the show which pissed me off to no end and that was Braun Strowman doing “comedy”. He should NOT be in that role as of yet nor should Elias be sacrificed for it. It was silly and a waste of his talent. No one wants “funny” Braun. They want monster Braun and that is what they should get. Singing songs? Really?

- Ronda Rousey will be signing her RAW contract at the Elimination Chamber PPV in Las Vegas. With Mania around the corner, I expect her to make some RAW appearances over the next several months.

- The main event of Elimination Chamber has also been changed as both Seth Rollins and Finn Balor have been added to the match thus making it 7 men instead of 6. My assumption is that the match will begin with 3 people in the ring instead of 2 unless they add another chamber?

- RAW opened up with a John Cena promo where John revealed that if he doesn’t win at Elimination Chamber, he will likely NOT have a match at Wrestlemania. Read that sentence again. WWE’s top draw for the past DECADE will be kept off Wrestlemania if he doesn’t get the title shot. He won’t be booked for the show; the same John Cena that is allowed across both brands at will and that both GM’s fight over; the top guy and face of the company. SMH. Even casual fans cannot possibly believe this nonsense.

- “F.T.R.R.” HAHAHA!!!!

- While it 100% could be a work, and I believe it is, Jason Jordan was announced as missing Wrestlemania as Kurt Angle noted his neck injury was more serious than expected. I fully believe it is a work and he will be wrestling Rollins at Mania. That was the point of him getting the less evasive surgery, in order to come back in time.

- By the way, Angle legit looked hot about the crowd cheering for Jordan missing Mania. I empathize with him as he is 100% correct. It is one thing to not like a wrestler, which is your right for buying a ticket. But wishing and cheering for a career threatening injury is a terrible thing to do.

- So Seth Rollins, one of the building blocks for the future of WWE, is in the same boat as John Cena meaning if he doesn’t get into and win the Elimination Chamber, he won’t have a match at Wrestlemania. Why does WWE think this is a reasonable storyline? Curt Hawkins missing Mania because he doesn’t win Elimination Chamber? Believable. John Cena and Seth Rollins? Not believable.

- With all that being said, I am a huge Kurt Angle fan and look forward to him wrestling again as I still think he has gas left in the tank and can still perform. Plus there are some “dream matches” to be had with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, etc. But if Angle cannot memorize his lines or isn’t allowed to get free reign on his promos, they need to move him out of the GM slot. He fumbles over his lines WEEKLY now. Not small fumbles but major ones. You can tell he isn’t comfortable memorizing scripts because he never seems to remember what he has to say. Just give him bullet points.

- So Bayley and Sasha Banks work great together. Excellent match from them. No, it wasn’t on par with their Brooklyn Takeover match but it was still very good. That being said, Bayley is turning heel. I see it. The writing is on the wall. Watch. Mark my words.

- PS - Very interesting note on the next Madison Square Garden show, there is a mixed tag match booked that featured John Cena and Nikki Bella vs. Elias and BAYLEY.

- Also, was Bayley supposed to shove Banks out of the way of Nia Jax? Cause she didn’t.

- The Asuka video package highlighting her current 860 day undefeated streak with a 240 – 0 record was all sorts of awesome. I really hope that Nia doesn’t beat her at EC. They need to continue to build her as a monster and build Rousey as a monster and I legit believe that they can headline Mania next year if they build it and Rousey proves to be a legit draw.

- Holy sh*t was that Apollo Crews and Titus Worldwide backstage promo awful or what? WOW. It is incredible how terrible that was.

- I continue to feel so bad for Paige. You can tell that she wants in the ring so badly. My question however is why she is being blocked from competing due to spinal stenosis yet Sheamus has spinal stenosis as well and he is performing a rolling fireman’s carry on the outside of the ring and still taking major bumps as if he is fine?

- Elias is GOLD. His heel stuff is fantastic and the way he plays the crowd is LOL worthy.

- Mark Andrews with a big WIN in the cruiserweight tournament over Akira Tozawa. I am glad to see them injecting fresh blood into the mix with him and Roderick Strong.

- Also congrats to Buddy Murphy as he has been called up to the 205 Live roster and makes his debut next week. That means he will be wrestling sometimes on Raw thus will now be traveling with his fiancé, WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss.

- So Dolph Ziggler is now a babyface? No explanation as to why he was gone. By the way so we are clear, Ziggler won a multi person match to win the U.S. title only to vacate it two days later on Smackdown and disappear for 7 weeks only to come back and get rewarded with a TITLE SHOT IN A MULTI PERSON MATCH?!?!?!?!?! Who writes this shite? Why does anyone think this is good booking or a cool storyline? It is the drizzling sh*ts. I hate it. I want to punch the writer who came up with this idea right in the f*cking nose.

- Oh, for those of you who are hoping that Dolph would leave when his contract expires, he isn’t. He just signed a new deal last week. He now has two more years of being elevated only to be buried only to be elevated again, rinse and repeat.

- Pankcakes. Two of the top teams on Smackdown are feuding over pancakes. Then WWE has the audacity to wonder why RAW is the “A” show and no one gives a f*ck about Smackdown yet you have a team feuding over pancakes and a Dolph Ziggler storyline that makes absolutely zero sense and no one can explain it.

- Question that no one has answered for me yet. Is it Women’s “Revolution” or Women’s “Evolution”? It started as Revolution when Stephanie brought up Charlotte, Sasha and Becky but now I have heard announcers say both during commentary with Stephanie in particular at the Rumble saying Evolution over and over.

- There has been consideration into pairing Ronda Rousey with Paul Heyman. All plans involving Heyman are in limbo as he is a contracted talent and his contract with WWE is separate than Lesnar’s. It would be a waste to lose him if Lesnar decides to leave. Rousey likely will need a mouthpiece for her especially since she is going to have to joust verbally with Stephanie McMahon.

- Jeff Cobb was backstage at Smackdown this week. There is no news here. He was just visiting however WWE has shown interest in the past so that door is open should he want to walk through it.

- While no official announcement has been made, WWE is set to do away with dual brand PPV events. Starting with the May PPV of Backlash, all PPV events moving forward will feature matches from both RAW and Smackdown. This will limit the number of people appearing on PPV events as Smackdown did in fact utilize most of their roster for most PPV’s. As of now, the brand split will remain however if most of you who have been watching WWE as long as I have and aren’t new fans, the previous brand extension ended the same way. First the PPV events were combined then randomly people from each brand began appearing on both shows and then they just ended the split and combined the rosters again. So we may be heading down the same path.

- It will completely decrease the purpose of the brand split if you have every PPV show be a joint PPV show because all of the titles will be defended thus reduce their significance. Look at it this way, MAJOR PPV’s like Mania and Summerslam, it makes sense since those are big shows. But having a Backlash PPV in May with the WWE Universal Title, WWE Title, U.S. Title, I.C. title, WWE RAW Women’s Title, WWE Smackdown Women’s Title, WWE RAW Tag Team Titles, WWE Smackdown Tag Team titles and WWE Cruiserweight Title all being defended only 4 weeks after Wrestlemania seems redundant and waters down the titles. Also, that limits the card. You can do that at Mania because it is a 6 hour PPV show. Backlash is supposed to be 3 hours and looking at the above, that is already 9 matches, all title matches and no room for anyone else on the roster.

- WWE has confirmed that former ClubWWI.com podcast host Ivory will be the women’s Hall of Fame inductee this year. It is well-deserved as she was a very good worker and trendsetter who worked hard to make it. For those who asked about Chyna eventually going in, the assumption is that she will be inducted next year. Triple H name dropped her at RAW 25 and Stephanie McMahon called her a trend setter during commentary at the Royal Rumble. The reason she isn’t going in this year is that WWE likes to limit the number of dead people they induct per year and that distinction goes to Bam Bam Bigelow this year as he is expected to be announced soon. The protocol is one main event level talent, one tag team, one woman; one passed away legend, one celebrity and one random/not main event level talent. So next year Chyna will represent both deceased and women categories.

- Speaking of Hall of Fame, guys please don’t believe everything you read on the internet. Mike Johnson did NOT report that Jeff Jarrett is going into the Hall of Fame this year. But copy and paste sites reported it as so and a lot of people took it as gospel. It isn’t happening as it is #FakeNews.

- There has been talk in both the football world as well as internally in WWE about New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski joining the company full time as a wrestler. Gronkowski, who is only 28, has been suffering more and more injuries over the past two years and noted before the Super Bowl that he is considering his future options. It is all dependent on what he wants to do. He is financially secure as according to him, he has not touched one cent of his NFL salary since he started football and only lives off of his endorsement money. He really no longer needs football especially with the wear and tear on his body. It all depends on how he feels physically over the next several months and where he thinks the Patriots can go next season. Had they defeated the Eagles for the Super Bowl, I believe he would have 100% retired following the game. So he may want one more crack at winning. Current WWE star Mojo Rawley is legit one of Gronk’s best friends hence they Andre The Giant Battle Royal last year at Mania where Gronk helped him win.

- The latest with Rey Mysterio is that WWE is still negotiating with him despite his agreement to work for New Japan in March. Rey does have several other dates over the next several months overseas that pay him a significant amount as he makes $25,000 per appearance unless it is for a friend like when he worked for The Crash in Mexico when Konnan was booking. The WWE deal that is being hammered out is a limited dates schedule similar to Chris Jericho and Brock Lesnar as opposed to a full time deal.

- As expected, especially once Graves announced that he was going on Booker T’s podcast; it was revealed that they were just messing with each other. It was a work. Sigh.

- John Cena filed his response to Ford Motor Co. regarding their lawsuit against him for selling the rare Ford GT he received from them. He claims that there is no language in the contract he signed that prevents him from selling it. Ford is claiming that there was and he owes them the cost of the car plus damages.

- After discussing him missing action due to his knee acting up, Lars Sullivan returned to NXT last weekend for live events. So essentially he is missing out on his NXT Takeover main event by a few days. That sucks but he will get his opportunity.

- Mahabali Shera, formerly of TNA/Impact Wrestling has signed with WWE and has begun at the WWE Performance Center. Based on his TNA run, I suspect he will be in the Performance Center for quite some time.

- For those who don’t know him, he is THIS GUY.

- Tamina Snuka revealed that she underwent torn rotator cuff surgery and will miss significant time with an estimated return date being November. I feel bad for her as she has had a way too shortened WWE career and has missed a ton of action over the past few years due to various injuries/surgeries. She gets major props however for her wrestling in the women’s Royal Rumble as she went into the match with the injury. WOW.

- Big Cass has begun training at the WWE Performance Center for his comeback. He has been out of action following knee surgery in August of 2017. He has not begun taking bumps yet and it doesn’t look like he will be ready by Mania or the RAW after Mania. May is the most likely earliest target date for him.

- WWE has come to terms on the release of Rich Swann. He was in fact wished well on his future endeavors. That shows you all you need to know on what WWE feels about domestic situations. Swann was NOT charged with a crime nor convicted; still released though. WWE doesn’t like bad press and if you aren’t a main event guy, you aren’t sticking around after it.

- WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page will be on RAW on Monday.

- Congrats to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Hollywood Reporter is noting that he is set to become Hollywood’s next $20 million dollar man. That is Hollywood rare air as the only actors/actresses to ever get $20 million per movie have been:

  • Robert Downey Jr.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio
  • Matt Damon
  • Sandra Bullock
  • Angelina Jolie
  • Denzel Washington
  • Jennifer Lawrence
  • - The Rock also fired shots at his “Fast and Furious” co-stars this week noting that “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” has out grossed EVERY “Fast” movie in the U.S. LOL.

    - WWE reported their earnings last week and set a company record for revenue grossing $800,959,000 for the year with $32,116,000 being profit. Profit was down from the previous year but that is in part to President Trump’s new tax initiative that hit WWE with a one-time tag of $11,284,000 thus their profit would have brought WWE back to their “pre-WWE Network” profit and had been $43,400,000 had it not been assessed. Since it was a one-time fee, if they keep the pace of 2017, which they will surpass if they get higher TV rights fees as expected, they will have gotten the company back to their profit before they launched the network and from there, they will be sailing to record numbers.

    - Vince McMahon also revealed that his initial investment of $100 million for Alpha Entertainment to fund the XFL will NOT be significant enough and he will need more capital in order to launch. He did not detail whether he will sell franchises to owners or get separate investors to participate but his capital isn’t enough to get the promotion off the ground.

WWE ELIMINATIONC CHAMBER is on Sunday, February 25th, 2018 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • MEN’S ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH FOR WRESTLEMANIA MAIN EVENT: Roman Reigns vs. John Cena vs. Braun Strowman vs. Miz vs. Elias vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollings
  • WOMEN’S ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH FOR RAW WOMEN’S TITLE: Alexa Bliss © vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Mickie James vs. Mandy Rose vs. Sonya Deville
  • Asuka vs. Nia Jax (if Jax wins, she is added to Mania RAW Women’s Title Match)
  • Ronda Rousey signs her WWE Raw contract
  • WWE FAST LANE PPV is on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 from Columbus Ohio and the line-up is as follows:

  • WWE SMACKDOWN TITLE: A.J. Styles © vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
  • Ring of Honor / New Japan / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - New Japan had ANOTHER U.S. surprise as it was announced that at the Long Beach California show on March 25th, Jushin “Thunder” Liger will wrestle against REY MYSTERIO!!!! Now it has been over 20 years since they two have first wrestled as they met in WCW at Starcade 1996 and both are older and have a ton of wear and tear on them but they are still veterans and it is still a nostalgia match. It is also better than having Billy Gunn work the show like they did last year which was INSANE to me. So that’s good.

    - IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada will be defending his title next against IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay on March 6th which will be the main event of the 46th Anniversary show. Okada is the one who issued the challenge to his fellow “Chaos” stablemate Ospreay noting that in the past, it was tradition for the IWGP Champion to wrestle the Junior Champion once per year. For the backstory on this match, Okada is the one who got Ospreay booked in New Japan as Okada had a rare outside NJPW booking in the U.K. and he was booked against Ospreay. Ospreay was so impressive in the match that Okada didn’t wait to get back to Japan to push for them to sign him as he called the Japan office while still in the U.K. to make the pitch for his signing.

    - New Japan is officially opening their Los Angeles Dojo in March and is holding tryouts on March 19th – 23rd and 26th – 30th. Applications began on Tuesday of this week. All participants are required to pay for their own transportation to LA as well as lodging. For the life of me, I cannot fathom why anyone who wants to be a success in the wrestling business wouldn’t try to make this trip and see if they can make it to New Japan. If they don’t have the money then I get that. But if they do or can get it, they NEED to take this opportunity. Stuff like this doesn’t come often.

    - New Japan is wasting no time as they are reuniting “The Golden Lovers” of Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi as they are set to team with Bullet Club member Chase Owens to take on Bullet Club members Cody, Marty Scurll and Hangman Page on February 23rd and then Cody and Marty Scurll in a tag match on February 24th. It is interesting booking since the Bullet Club isn’t officially broken up and yet now have members in matches against each other. The shows are joint shows in Japan with Ring of Honor as the name of the tour is “Honor Rising”.

    - Cody continued the “Bullet Club is Fine” angle during the ROH TV tapings last weekend including handing out “Bullet Club is Fine” t-shirts to the Young Bucks. Cody continues to push the mantra that all is well while the Young Bucks and Marty Scurll continue to disagree and note that all will be fine when Omega returns.

    - The latest BEING THE ELITE is posted. Major props go to the Bullet Club for “getting it” and knowing how to further their brand. Excellent stuff.

    - It is also noteworthy is to see where Tama Tonga, one of the original Bullet Club members lands in all this. He and his Samoan contingent of Tanga Loa and Leo Tonga a.k.a. The Guerrillas of Destiny haven’t chimed in or chosen a side in all of this. Same goes for Bad Luck Fale as he was a day one BC member with Prince Devitt a.k.a. Finn Balor. They haven’t publicly spoken on it but The G.O.D. are teaming with Omega in Australia this week so it looks like they are on his side while Cody, The Bucks, Hangman Page and Marty Scurll are on another side.

    - New Japan is currently in Australia doing shows out there this week. One of the shows is headlined by a six man tag that has Kazuchika Okada on one side and Kenny Omega on the other. It is Okada with Tomohiro Ishii and Rocky Romero vs. Omega with the Guerrillas of Destiny.

    - Just to show you how family oriented the Young Bucks are and how much they sacrifice, they are booked in Australia from February 16th through February 19th and booked in Japan on February 23rd and February 24th for the New Japan/ROH shows. Rather than fly from Australia to Japan on February 20th to get home on February 21st so they can spend legitimately 24 hours with their family before they turn around and fly 17 hours back to Japan for the shows. So to anyone who complains that they are “killing the business”, you can go f*ck yourself because they probably work harder than anyone in the business right now.

    - WrestleCon announced that Kenny Omega will be working one of their shows over Wrestlemania weekend teaming with “Golden Lover” partner Kota Ibushi vs. “Best Friends” Trent Barreta and Chuck Taylor. Also confirmed is that Will Ospreay will be on the show.

    - Despite some controversy circling his personal life, Michael Elgin inked a new two-year deal with New Japan. He has also filed a lawsuit against the woman who is claiming that one of his wrestling students sexually assaulted claiming that she is ruining his reputation by associating his name with the accused. This will likely NOT liken him to more people in some circles as he did in fact not take any action once the accusations were brought.

    - Tenille Dashwood formerly known as Emma in WWE has entered ROH’s “Women of Honor” tournament. She ADVANCED TO THE NEXT ROUND and will go onto face Brandi Rhodes.

    - The finals of the Women of Honor tournament are expected to take place at Supercard of Honor in New Orleans over Mania weekend.

    - Lucha Underground will begin filming on season 4 from February 23rd through 25th. The have constructed a new “temple” for the show so it will be a different set up than previous the previous 3 seasons. Also expect a ton of new faces joining the show.

    - The production budget as well as overall budget is down and most, if not all of the old faces from the previous three seasons are either gone or coming back to be written out and released by the company. By all accounts, most associated with the product believe that this will be the final season. They have reached 100 episodes so can be syndicated but that is about the end of it.

    - Alberto El Patron confirmed that he has spoken to Dorion Roldan about returning to AAA.

    - AAA aired their TV tapings last weekend LIVE on Twitch. This is significant because they tape shows weeks in advance therefore what aired on Twitch won’t air on television in Mexico for several weeks.

    - Matt Riddle is promoting his own show called “Bloodsport” over Wrestlemania weekend in New Orleans where each match must end via knockout or submission. He will main event that show against Low-Ki in their first ever match up. He revealed in an interview that if WWE offered him a good deal as opposed to a standard developmental deal, he’d consider giving up marijuana for it. During his UFC career, while showing great MMA potential, failed several marijuana tests while under contract. He also noted that he was pulled from the New Japan Tag League tournament due to Bushiroad, the parent company of New Japan, finding out about his drug test failures. He said he absolutely would NOT bring marijuana into Japan and knows not to smoke it while there. He finally noted that he makes 6 figures right now wrestling independently so he isn’t going to take a pay cut to go to WWE and figures that by doing what he is doing now and making a name for himself on the independents, he is only upping his value so that in a few years if WWE is still interested, he can get a fairer deal than now.

    - Rey Mysterio’s son Dominic, who was used on WWE television during Rey’s angle wirh Eddie Guerrero where Eddie claimed Dominic was his, is currently training in Florida with Jay Lethal. Jay is an underrated trainer that doesn’t get the proper credit he deserves as he has helped develop a lot of young workers currently finding their names for themselves including being the trainer for former WWE star A.J. Lee as well as one of the early contributors of Joey Janella’s career.

    - Former WWE star Celeste Bonin (formerly Kaitlyn of WWE fame) made her return last weekend wrestling and defeating Rachel Ellering on an independent show in Florida. She “retired” from WWE several years ago to get married but has since divorced her husband and battled substance abuse problems which included her completing a WWE sponsored rehab stint.

    - MLW’s ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP show is available for FREE on their YouTube channel. If you are interested in seeing some independent names that are gaining popularity and have a legit shot at one day making it to WWE, go check it out as the show features the above mentioned Matt Riddle as well as Jeff Cobb and a bunch of other talented guys.

    - Thoughts, prayers and well wishes go out to longtime independent female wrestler LuFisto as she revealed that she is currently battling cervical cancer.

    - Teddy Hart will be working the Impact show in New Orleans over Wrestlemania weekend. No word on whether this is a “one off” or will be a full time thing.

    - Sonjay Dutt is off crutches and no longer walking around in a walking boot. He is still ways off before coming back to competing but being out of a walking boot 5 weeks after surgery is pretty impressive. He is going to remain on the commentary team for the immediate future alongside Josh Matthews. The plans for having Don Callis joining commentary have been put on hold.

    - Impact has in fact reached out to Mike Tenay about bringing him back but he has been removed from wrestling for some time now and turned down the invitation as he considers himself retired from wrestling.

    - Impact’s April 22nd PPV will take place at the Impact Zone in Orlando Florida. It was expected to take place in Canada due to the cheaper costs of production but a location could not be found.

    - Impact also announced that their Wrestlemania weekend show in New Orleans will air LIVE on Twitch streaming. That is the show mentioned above where Teddy Hart makes his return to the promotion.

    MMA News and Notes:

    - Luke Rockhold is NOT your new interim UFC Middleweight Champion as he was knocked into the middle of next week by Yoel Romero. It was as vicious a KO as you will ever see although if referee Mario Yamasaki was the ref, they would still be fighting. SMH. Anyway, Romero is also NOT the interim champion either as he missed weight by 2 pounds. Normally I’d rip him a new one however this is the first time in his career he has missed weight and he also took the fight on short notice as he replaced the injured UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whitaker as Whitaker was forced to pull out. With the win and the impressive knockout however, Romero will likely get the title shot for the real title anyway. So it is all good in the end.

    - Rockhold did note before the fight that his plan is to move up to Light Heavyweight citing the fact that it is getting harder for him to cut to 185 as he gets older and the fact that his friend and training mate Daniel Cormier is moving to heavyweight.

    - Mark Hunt’s UFC career is winding down and in one of his final UFC fights; he lost a decision to fighter Curtis Blaydes. He now has 2 fights remaining and has noted on multiple occasions that he plans on leaving the promotion once his deal is done.

    - UFC Welterweight Champion Tyrone Woodley is set to sit down with Dana White next week to discuss potential challengers to his title. One would assume that despite the denials by Dana and UFC that Nate Diaz is on what is a very short list of potential opponents.

    - Several months after failing a USADA test following his victory over Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones will face the California State Athletic Commission on February 27th. He will present any evidence he has to back his cause that he failed for a tainted supplement instead of illegally taking performance enhancing drugs and be given his suspension for the offense, if any. Jones’ management team is confident that he will NOT be getting a four year suspension and will fight before years end. This will be a HUGE deal if he is cleared because it would 100% affect UFC and WWE as Brock Lesnar vs. Jon Jones was in the works before Jones got suspended. If Jones becomes an option before Lesnar figures out his future with WWE, he is going to choose UFC as he can make more money off a fight against Jones than he can make in a full year working for WWE.

    - If this gets any traction, it is going to cause HUGE problems for UFC and WME-IMG as fighter Leslie Smith is looking to unionize fighters in UFC against the claim that they are independent contractors. If she can gain support, she can effectively make UFC classify them as employees or thus help abolish the rule that they are required to wear Reebok sponsor stuff since as independent contractors, they should be able to get their own sponsorship money. It would also help loosen the reigns USADA has on them as they wouldn’t have to disclose their whereabouts at all times. She thinks she has potential to be successful because she is doing it on her own and making alliances to support her as opposed to in the past when it was done by outsiders or former fighters with an axe to grind. She noted that she is 100% not against UFC and is doing this to make UFC more “fighter friendly”. She loves fighting for UFC and plans to continue to do so.

    - UFC has been negotiating with Conor McGregor about fighting in 2018. Despite all of the hullaballoo about Floyd Mayweather fighting under MMA rules, the current discussions have involved him returning to fight the winner of Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov or the rubber fight vs. Nate Diaz.

    - Despite retiring over a year ago and being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, Urijah Faber has NOT officially submitted his paperwork and is still in the USADA drug testing pool thus would be eligible to return to UFC should he see fit. He has no plans to return and does consider himself retired but he is still training and in shape and would come back depending on what opportunity came up for him.

    - Former Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks, the guy that signed with UFC while still Bellator Lightweight champion, has been wished well in his future endeavors. Brooks defeated then Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler and was going to leave, ended up agreeing to a rematch so that he wouldn’t be able to leave as champion and won that too. Upon coming to UFC however, he went 1 – 3 in his four fights, losing 3 in a row via stoppage against the crème de la crema of the division in Alex Oliveira, Charles Oliveira (no relation) and Nik Lentz. He has already signed with the Pro Fight League and will be competing in their $1,000,000 tournament that begins soon.

    - Roy Nelson vs. Matt Mitrione is the next fight in the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament. It takes place tonight at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut.

UFC 222 is on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC WOMEN’S FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE: Cris “Cyborg” Justino © vs. Yana Kunitskaya
  • Frankie Edgar vs. Brian Ortega
  • Stefan Struve vs. Andre Arlovski
  • C.B. Dolloway vs. Hector Lombard
  • Cat Zingano vs. Ketlen Viera
  • UFC 223 is on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 from Brooklyn New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE: Tony Ferguson © vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
  • UFC WOMEN’S STRAWWEIGHT TITLE: Rose Namajunas © vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
  • Anthony Pettis vs. Michael Chiesa
  • Brandon Moreno vs. Ray Borg

    - THIS LINK is for LIFE. Thank you soldiers. WELCOME HOME BLOG.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: This story sickens me to my core. I hope this man suffers a painful and slow torture while in prison.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: Heads need to f*cking ROLL over this. This is absolutely one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read. So much for the mantra “If you see something, say something.” WHAT THE F*CK BRO. Something was seen and said and nothing was done and now people are DEAD. All could have been prevented.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: Has there ever been a president involved in multiple scandals on multiple fronts simultaneously? I mean this guy has drama in every direction. Russia, the FBI, his cabinet, his staffers, extramarital affairs, his kids.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: I don’t understand why all of these famous actresses who were assaulted or bullied by Weinstein don’t step up and help Rose in her battle? Where is Salma Hayek? She is married to a f*cking billionaire!!! Where is Gwyneth Paltrow?

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 4: BWAAAHAAAAHAAAA!!!! Tremendous.

    - Black Panther is trending towards a record breaking $200 million opening weekend which would make it the largest opening weekend in February history and the 2nd highest Marvel opening weekend of all time. In order to accomplish that goal, they needed a $20 million opening Thursday. According to Deadline, they made $25 million so they are absolutely on pace to set that record and could surpass the highest Marvel opening weekend ever which goes to the 1st Avengers film that made $207 million. I got my tickets for Sunday and will let you know my thoughts next week. I am stoked though.

    - Deadpool director Tim Miller has been hired by 21st Century Fox to work on project 143 which is set to be an X-Men standalone film on Kitty Pride. The 143 is in reference to the Uncanny X-Men comic book, issue 143 in 1981 which was the first Kitty Pride centric adventure where she faces off with a demon at the X-Men mansion. With the deal between Fox and Disney signed but not finalized yet, Fox is still moving ahead with their slate of films until the deal is sealed. So it is possible that this film never sees the light of day unless it is filmed before the merger is completed, a task that could take up to a year.

    - Actor Reg Cathay passed away last week from cancer at age 59. Reg was best known for his role as BBQ chef Freddy Hayes on Netflix’s “House of Cards”. He also had notable roles on Oz and The Wire on HBO. Marvel did reveal that he is a co-star on the upcoming season of Luke Cage on Netflix meaning that some of his final acting scenes will be in the MCU.

    - Even though I said it at the time despite the denials, it has come out this week that director Zack Snyder was FIRED from Justice League due to the first cut of the film being completely “unwatchable”. Joss Whedon came aboard long before he was officially announced as taking over due to Snyder taking a leave of absence due to his daughter’s death.

    - When Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns on March 2nd, we will be treated to the return of Carl Creed a.k.a. The Absorbing Man to the show as he has a guest spot on the mid-season premiere.
