T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #433

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I am hoping that you readers have taken the time to lend a hand and donated to the JAIDAN STRONG cause for me. I’d really appreciate it if you did; as little as $5 can go a long way. If not, it isn’t a big deal but please at least SHARE THE LINK. I get that finances can be tough for some but taking the time to share a link via your social media doesn’t cost a dime. I’d appreciate it greatly as one of your friends or family members may be able to help out. Thanks.

BONUS MATT NOTE: Changes are coming. Changes are coming. Stay tuned.

- Despite going ahead as planned with Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania, Monday on RAW, WWE made Seth Rollins into the top guy he should have always been by having him wrestle for one hour and five minutes in a gauntlet match and having him pin both Roman Reigns and John Cena CLEANLY in back to back matches. My assumption is that they did this in order for him to chase Roman after Mania. WWE needs to get their head out of their asses when it comes to Wrestlemania in the future instead of sticking to long term plans because sometimes other people heat up and you miss on capitalizing on those situations. For example, there is absolutely zero reason for Braun Strowman not to be in the title picture and after Monday’s performance, zero reason to not go with Rollins instead after this performance made him look like the top guy.

- WWE thought WAY outside the box with this gauntlet match to start RAW as it took nearly two hours to complete. Never did I think WWE would go with two straight hours of wrestling (only interrupted by commercial breaks)

- The ratings for the show were slightly higher than the usual average of RAW which not only showed that fans are interested in good wrestling and new concepts but it also proved that RAW needs to move to two hour broadcasts as three hours is significantly too long. The drop in ratings from hour two to hour three was the BIGGEST DROP in RAW history. So once the gauntlet match ended, fans left in rapid fashion.

- Can anyone explain why Roman Reigns in his promo before the gauntlet match claimed he is the only one who could beat Brock Lesnar and to look back at their Mania match as proof? He claimed if it wasn’t for Seth Rollins, he would have won. Um…no. He was nowhere near close to winning and was dominated most of the match.

- Rollins vs. Reigns was EXCELLENT. PPV quality match.

- Rollins vs. Cena was NOT a PPV quality match. The ending was excellent but the match was slow as molasses when it started and I don’t know if it is injury, age, wear & tear, time off or ring rust but Cena has absolutely lost a step. All of his matches of late have resulted in him looking sloppy and moving in slow motion. He has said several times that he would wind down his career when he begins to slow down, well if he ain’t hurt, he needs to consider it.

- By the way, WWE continues to push the narrative that if Cena doesn’t win at Elimination Chamber, he isn’t going to be on the Wrestlemania card. Uh huh. Sure. WWE is not going to push their biggest star in the last decade and biggest name since “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock on their biggest show of the year. LOLOLOLOLOLZ. Such a stupid storyline.

- Rollins vs. Elias was ok at best. I also don’t get why Elias needed protecting here. They should have had Balor be the one who beat Rollins. It would have helped elevate him as well.

- Elias vs. Balor was TERRIBLE. 17 minutes for Elias is NOT the way to go with him. I have said for weeks now that while I walk with Elias, he isn’t ready for primetime in the ring. He needs work. Balor beating Elias thus did not protect Elias since Balor won clean. It would have meant more to have Balor beat Rollins and then have Balor beat Elias. That would have put him on par with Rollins and thus created two stars instead of one.

- Balor vs. Miz was good. Miz is way underrated as a worker and is a perfect heel.

- Miz vs. Strowman was EXACTLY what it needed to be. The pop Strowman got was ginormous and is one of the reasons why WWE needed to change the path and should have protected Strowman for months and went with Strowman vs. Lesnar at Mania. They absolutely would have had someone that the fans would have rooted for against Lesnar and legit would have went apesh*t when Strowman won the title. Instead they are going to BOO Roman out the building at Mania.

- So I need to eat some words because last week I noted in this column that there is zero chance that Jeff Jarrett goes into the Hall of Fame this year. I noted in the past that I could someday see it happening but not now just based off of all the bad blood in recent years with TNA. So lo and behold, imagine my surprise when it was announced on Monday that Jarrett will be the next inductee into the WWE 2018 Hall of Fame class. What is hilarious though is that the official release touting his induction fails to mention TNA by name. They just note that he promoted shows that helped get breaks for current WWE stars like A.J. Styles, Bobby Roode and Eric Young. LOLZ.

- Yeah, about that Jarrett Hall of Fame video, um the man has been an active wrestler for 31 years yet 90% of the HOF video was his time in WWE. Amazing.

- Asuka got her ass handed to her pretty easily by Nia Jax. Why? I don’t get it.

- So footage of Ronda Rousey training wrestling aired. I really hope and pray that it isn’t like CM Punk footage training MMA where they made him out to look competent and then when fight time came, he looked like the polar opposite of the footage that aired. I mean, Rousey looked good in the ring but hopefully they didn’t splice in the best of her training footage and then she sucks in real life.

- PLEASE START THE REST OF THE WOKEN UNIVERSE ALREADY BECAUSE MATT HARDY IS DYING A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH!!! UGH. Bring in Reby. Bring in Senior Benjamin. Bring in Brother Nero. Bring in King Maxel. Bring in Lord Wolfgang. Bring in Vanguard One. AND FOR GODSAKES, MOVE HIM FAR AWAY FROM BRAY WYATT!!! Wyatt is the kiss of death in feuds. He has made everyone he is feuding with completely unwatchable.

- WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page was backstage at RAW on Monday but was not used on camera. He was called to the show to film documentary footage for a new “Macho Man” DVD project that is being worked on as well as other WWE related DVD and Network projects.

- Crews CAN lose….his last name. It is now Apollo. No more Crews. Just Apollo. Vince randomly decided that he no longer needed a last name. I am not sure why this randomly came up or what caused it but when Vince wants to end a last name, he just does. There is a rumor circulating that his name Crews sounds like Cruz which is the last name of the Florida high school shooter so Vince decided to remove it. Don’t know if that story is true but it possibly could be.

- So Ziggler is back to losing matches again. Just like that and heading into a PPV for Smackdown where he is one of the participants in the main event. I will never understand the logic in booking him. No, I didn’t expect him to go undefeated or even win the title at the PPV. But I didn’t think he’d lose in his 2nd match back. SMH.

- P.S. Yes I get that it was a distraction finish but that doesn’t make it any less stupid.

- Does anyone care to explain why the hottest act on Smackdown a.k.a. Rusev has not been on television for two straight weeks now?

- The water is about to get a little murky for WWE as a man by the name of Jon Bravo is claiming that he worked with steroid distributor Richard Rodriquez, the man who claims he sold steroids to Roman Reigns and has documented proof of these claims. If he does in fact have proof, WWE will likely be let with no choice but to suspend Reigns for 60 days since it would be his second drug test failure and therefore Reigns would in fact be OUT of his Mania main event against Brock Lesnar and a complete overhaul of the PPV lineup will be needed. Reigns has denied even knowing who Rodriquez is and has claimed to have passed eleven drug tests since his last failure. So WWE would absolutely be painted in a bad light if there is truth to Rodriquez’s claims.

- Bravo is also claiming that there are 15 other WWE superstars on the list. If that turns out to be true, sh*t is going to definitely hit the f*cking fan HARD on WWE.

- The Louisiana Boxing and Wrestling Commission announced that all blood and pile drivers are prohibited on ALL wrestling shows in the state and that could pose a significant problem to literally EVERY PROMOTION in the U.S. since everyone will be running in New Orleans over Wrestlemania weekend. The commission could shut down any show that breaks that rule and while I highly doubt Wrestlemania will be in jeopardy, if the commission wanted to or were persuaded to shut down smaller shows, I can imagine they would.

- WWE confirmed earlier this week what I had noted last week and that is that they are going back to dual branded PPV’s and cutting the number down to 12 per year. I do feel like this will in fact lead to the eventual end of the brand extension. With WWE having nine titles being spread across two brands, each match on each PPV would be a title match and that leaves no room for anyone not holding a title or involved in a title feud being added to PPV events. That doesn’t make much sense to me. So either they will end the brand extension or they will at least unify the titles at some point and have their champions spread across both brands as “touring” champions.

- The Miz and his wife Maryse held their baby shower over the weekend in Los Angeles and it was taped for their reality show airing on USA Network. Singer Avril Lavvigne who her and her boyfriend Ryan Cabrera are close friends with Miz and Maryse including dressing up as them this past Halloween.

- For those of you who do NOT follow NXT, you really should because it is a great wrestling show from week to week. That being said, this week saw Johnny Gargano lose a “Loser Leaves NXT” match to NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas. As I have noted in the past, I see this as an angle as I don’t see Gargano being called up to the main roster until his issue with former partner Tommaso Ciampa being resolved.

- If you may have noticed (for those of you who watch), Billy Kay has been absent from TV as of late. That was because she was undergoing a procedure. You’ll absolutely know what procedure when you see her back on TV. I will give you TWO hints as to what the procedure was.

- Per William Regal, the winning team of the Dusty Classic will receive a tag team title shot at Takeover: New Orleans. The brackets were also announced. First rounds matches where the winners will face off are: The Street Profits vs. Heavy Machinery and Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss vs. SAnitY. The other side of the brackets are TM61 vs. The Authors of Pain and Oney Lorcan & Danny Birch vs. Tyler Bate & Trent Seven.

- Sad to see that they didn’t decide to debut War Machine in the tournament. That would have been cool. My guess is they lay out the winners and debut either at Takeover: New Orleans or the TV tapings immediately following the show.

- Mark Andrews has been officially added to the 205 Live roster page. He will probably still be considered for any U.K. Project WWE launches in the future but for now, he will be a cruiserweight.

- They have also revealed the brackets for the tournament finally with the remaining participants. Cedric Alexander faces TJP in round 2 with the winner fighting the winner of Roderick Strong vs. Kalisto. The other side has Mustafa Ali vs. Buddy Murphy and the winner fighting the winner of Drew Gulak vs. Mark Andrews. My guess is based off the past year of 205 Live is that the finals taking place at Wrestlemania will be Cedric Alexander vs. Drew Gulak basically as a reward for all the work both men have put in so far.

- Stardom champion Io Shiari is still looking to be signed and come to WWE. She was signed at the same time as Kari Sane however failed her medicals due to a neck injury and returned to Stardom in Japan. Her goal is to rehab and pass physicals by WWE and then join the promotion.

- So last week when Rich Swann was released from WWE and wished well on his future endeavors, it was his birthday when it happened. Look, I do believe coincidences happen from time to time but with WWE, coincidences like these happen WAY TOO OFTEN. They absolutely released him on purpose on that day.

- Swann was not given the usual 90 day no compete clause and will be back to wrestling again soon including being booked on several shows in New Orleans over Wrestlemania weekend. His first date is scheduled for March 17th at the Crash Lucha Libre promotion as well as a March 23rd date for Tommy Dreamer’s “House of Hardcore”.

- A little known NXT fun fact is that per WWE policy, WWE does NOT release the names of anyone in developmental that has a Wellness Policy violation. They do for the main roster when someone fails; they announce it and the suspension immediately. They have NEVER adhered to this policy for NXT. Interesting.

- The first round of the mixed match challenge ended this week with the “Robe Warriors” of Charlotte & Bobby Roode defeating Nia Jax & Apollo. They will now go to the next round to face off with Lana & Rusev. The other match ups include Sasha Banks & Finn Balor taking on Asuka & Miz next week as well as “Team Little Big” of Alexa Bliss & Braun Strowman against Naomi & Jimmy Uso.

- Major props go out to Sami Zayn as he was presented with a Humanitarian Award by the Syrian American Medical Society for all of his work creating a mobile clinic out there.

- In an interview with TMZ, Mark Henry was asked if Hulk Hogan should be allowed back in the WWE and what would it take for him to make amends. Henry noted that he would gladly see Hogan back if Hogan apologized to every black wrestler on the roster individually.

- The government in Bahrain is negotiating with WWE with the hope that WWE would open up a regional branch there in order to evaluate and sign new talent from the Middle East.

- WWE Star Ronda Rousey will be inducted into the Arnold Schwarzenegger International Sports Hall of Fame on March 3rd at the Arnold Classic in Ohio. She will be getting her 6th degree black belt in judo that weekend while her mother Ann DeMars will be getting her 7th degree.

WWE ELIMINATIONC CHAMBER is on Sunday, February 25th, 2018 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • MEN’S ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH FOR WRESTLEMANIA MAIN EVENT: Roman Reigns vs. John Cena vs. Braun Strowman vs. Miz vs. Elias vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins
  • WOMEN’S ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH FOR RAW WOMEN’S TITLE: Alexa Bliss © vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Mickie James vs. Mandy Rose vs. Sonya Deville
  • Asuka vs. Nia Jax (if Jax wins, she is added to Mania RAW Women’s Title Match)
  • Ronda Rousey signs her WWE Raw contract
  • WWE RAW TAG TEAM TITLES: The Bar © (Sheamus & Cesaro) vs. Titus Worldwide (Titus & Apollo)
  • ”Woken” Matt Hardy vs. Bray Wyatt
  • The Club (Gallows & Anderson) vs. Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas
  • WWE FAST LANE PPV is on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 from Columbus Ohio and the line-up is as follows:

  • WWE SMACKDOWN TITLE: A.J. Styles © vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
  • U.S. TITLE: Bobby Roode © vs. Randy Orton
  • SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S TITLE: Charlotte Flair © vs. Ruby Riott w/the Riott Squad
  • WWE SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: The Usos © (Jimmy & Jey Uso) vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston/Xavier Woods/Big E.)
  • Ring of Honor / New Japan / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - Great to see that the Bullet Club continued their angle on the live events in Australia with Cody cutting a promo following his six man tag noting that all is fine with the Bullet Club only to be interrupted by Matt Jackson noting that everything isn’t fine because things aren’t right with Kenny Omega. Omega later made a statement during his match as he teamed with Kota Ibushi and ended up pinning Rocky Romero while using Cody’s “Cross Rhodes” finisher before hitting the One Winged Angel.

    - The Latest Episode of BEING THE ELITE as these videos are the best thing in wrestling today.

    - The Young Bucks announced this week that they are moving up from the Junior Tag Division to the Heavyweight Tag Division. Interesting. They have absolutely done everything they wanted to do in the Jr. Division and there are a ton of fresh matches in heavyweight so it is a good move for them.

    - Kenny Omega has been announced as participating in the Chris Jericho “Rock N Rager Wrestling” cruise and will take part in the “Sea of Honor” tournament which is a tournament taking place over the course of the cruise with the winner getting a future title shot at the ROH Title. So far announced as participating in the tournament are:

  • Cody
  • Kenny Omega
  • Jay Lethal
  • Marty Scrull
  • Hangman Page
  • Matt Jackson
  • Nick Jackson
  • Christopher Daniels
  • Frankie Kazarian
  • Delirious
  • Dalton Castle
  • Jay Briscoe
  • Mark Briscoe
  • - I have no idea why they have Dalton Castle in the tournament since he is ROH champion unless they either plan on having him drop the title before October or if not, have it that if he wins, no one gets the next title shot. Weird.

    - The first official program of the Bullet Club split took place today in New Japan as Cody, Marty Scurll and Hangman Page faced off in a six man tag against The Golden Lovers of Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi & Bullet Club member Chase Owens. Tomorrow will be the Golden Lovers vs. Cody & Scurll. So Cody and Kenny are going to face off on back to back days.

    - Evil suffered a broken orbital bone on the Australia tour and will miss some time. He will be missing the New Japan Cup tournament and the anniversary show on March 6th. He may also miss the Long Beach shows in the U.S. depending on his recovery.

    - Ring of Honor announced that they will have Ultimo Guerrero, Volador Jr. and Soberano Jr. for the March 3rd show in New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

    - ROH officially launched “Honor Club” on Monday. Standard subscriptions are offered at either $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, and an annual VIP subscription is available for $119.99. Each option includes streaming of "On Tour" events and access to ROH's video-on-demand archive, but the VIP subscription includes streaming of all pay-per-views as well.

    - Supercard of Honor over Mania weekend is now at 4,621 tickets sold in an arena that holds 5,300. ROH believes they can sell out the building which will be amazing. They have already shattered their previous attendance record with this show.

    - Best of luck to Kenji Mutoh a.k.a. The Great Muta as he revealed that he has to undergo a DOUBLE knee replacement surgery. At his age with the amount of wear and tear on his body, this may put an end to his in ring career however he noted that he hopes he will still be able to wrestle again once recovered.

    - CMLL is running a show on Sunday which breaks a longstanding tradition in the Lucha Libre community as they have a tag team match that will feature Pierroth on one side and his son Dragon Lee on the other side. This is the first time in many many many years that a father and son will be wrestling against each other as Mexican tradition is that NEVER happens. Brothers can fight against each other but never father vs. son. That is a little history for you because even I didn’t know that was an unspoken rule until now.

    - Former WWE Star Rich Swann will make his debut for The Crash Lucha Libre promotion on March 17th. That is an interesting date because Bestia is scheduled to main event that Crash show against Rey Mysterio Jr. but he is also a part of Lucha Underground and that date is one of the taping dates for the new season.

    - There is currently an autobiography on Sabu in the works being written by Kenny Cassanova who helped Kamala with his autobiography. That will be one hell of a tale if it sticks to the truth.

    - Can anyone across the pond clarify for me how in the hell does “5 Star Wrestling” make money? They are flying in high priced talent like Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam yet they draw 400 people in a 13,000 seat arena?!?!? They have to be losing their asses on these shows no?

    - It looks like former WWE Star James Ellsworth has found a nice little niche on the independent scene as he has proclaimed himself the Intergender Champion of the World and will be challenging women from all around the independents. This worked big time for Andy Kauffman as he got NUCLEAR heat for it back in Memphis.

    - If you are in the New York/New Jersey area, I am attending my first independent show in a few years tonight in the Bronx as “Create Or Die” is holding their 2nd ever event at Daro’s Gym located at 1123 Close Avenue in the Bronx. The show will feature E.C. Negro vs. Teddy Hart, Homicide vs. T.J. Marconi, The Hit Squad of Dan Maff and Monsta Mack vs. LAX of Santana and Ortiz and MORE. Should be a great show and tickets are available at the door for $20. Come check it out.

    - TNA’s new regime is looking to right the ship and working hard at doing so. They have sent the following notice: “Redemption isn't just the name of our next PPV, its a mission statement. We're not asking for redemption, we plan to earn it - little by little every week. Jump on board now because we're creating something special. Thanks for watching, we'll see you next week. #IMPACTonPop”

    - Impact announced that anyone who purchases first or second row tickets to their show WrestleMania weekend will get a backstage meet and greet with most of the roster.

    - In what is NOT good news for Impact in the United Kingdom, they have had their already bad Friday timeslot moved again to the DEAD spot of 11:00 pm. They moved the slot to accommodate re-runs of the “A-Team”. That tells you all you need to know about that one.

    - Those from Impact going to New Orleans for the Mania weekend show are:

  • Impact Champion Austin Aries ©
  • “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner
  • Alberto El Patron
  • Teddy Hart
  • Eli Drake
  • Matt Sydal
  • Moose
  • LAX
  • Trevor Lee
  • Taya Valkerie
  • Caleb Konley
  • Allie
  • Eddie Edwards
  • - April 22nd will be the “Redemption” PPV from Orlando followed by July 22nd with the annual “Slammiversary” PPV from a location TBD.

    - I will always give credit where it is due when it comes to the Impact product. When they have pushed good ideas and good angles, I was all in. When they sh*t the bed, I always noted that they are sh*tting the bed. And believe me; they have way more whiffs than hits. With that being said, I know that Callis and D’Amore are going to work hard to try and get their vision of what wrestling is off the ground. They are both into old school heel vs. face booking and in ring work. The product so far has improved even though they lack any REAL NAME star power. But in the end, until someone whether it is Callis, D’Amore or Ed Nordholm can present a product that they can monetize, they are “Bound for Failure”. All this talk of improving the product, making new stars, better booking, better action, etc. is all meaningless unless they can turn that into making money. Right now, they are still far away from earning a dime. Cutting costs helps but they aren’t out of the woods yet.

    MMA News and Notes:

    - Vitor Belfort’s final UFC fight is looking like it is scheduled to take place on the May 12th PPV against Lyoto Machida. Belfort wants that date since it is in Rio De Janeiro and he wants to retire in Brazil. Machida is being chosen because he likes and respects Machida.

    - According to Yoel Romero, he noted that UFC has confirmed to him that he is the next challenger for the UFC Middleweight Championship.

    - Following his impressive win last weekend, “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone has stated that he wants the lightweight title and that he also wants a fight with Khabib Nurmagoedov. Cerrone, with his win tied both George St. Pierre and Michael Bisping for most wins in UFC history with 20. Considering there is no timetable for GSP’s comeback, if any, and Bisping is likely retired or retiring, Cerrone will be the new record holder as he plans on fighting for several more years. He also recorded his 14th career stoppage which ties him for first with Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort. That is an amazing stat considering that both Silva and Belfort are known PED users and Cerrone is not. The only thing that Cerrone doesn’t have in common with GSP, Bisping, Silva and Belfort is that he accomplished those records WITHOUT having ever won a title in UFC.

    - Sage Northcutt continued on with his winning ways improving to 10 – 2 with a decision win. He has continued to develop despite some stumbling early on in his career.

    - Conor McGregor revealed that he plans on fighting in UFC again this year and that he offered to step in on short notice to “save” UFC 222 and fight Frankie Edgar once Max Holloway pulled out the fight. He said he was told by UFC that there was not enough time for them to generate the kind of revenue a McGregor fight would draw.

    - Frankie Edgar’s manager is denying McGregor’s claim that he offered to step in. I don’t know if it is true or not obviously because UFC is probably going to deny it but if in fact McGregor is telling the truth, that is a million percent a LAME EXCUSE by UFC. On 3 weeks’ notice, Conor McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar does a minimum of 1,000,000 PPV buys. No one else in the UFC right now draws that number. Sure if they properly build up McGregor vs. Ferguson or Nurmagomedov they may approach 2 million and if Floyd comes in, astronomical buyrate but still, UFC needs PPV buys and Conor gets PPV buys. They should have let it happen.

    - Dana White has made it clear that he has spoken to McGregor and McGregor understands that he will be officially stripped of the UFC Lightweight Title prior to Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov in April.

    - Floyd Mayweather Sr., who is estranged from his son Floyd Mayweather, noted that he believes his son will at least fight once in UFC. I still don’t see it happening mainly because of the money issue. If UFC could afford a typical Floyd payday, then yes it is definitely possible. But I don’t think they’d shell out $100,000,000; for one fight.

    - Matt Mitrione has advanced to the next round of the Bellator MMA Heavyweight Grand Prix by defeating Roy Nelson by decision last week. It was absolutely a close fight as Mitrione won the first two rounds while Nelson won the third. However, Nelson completely dominated the third and had a 10 – 8 round on one of the judges’ scorecards. It could have been 10-8 on all three thus making it a draw and honestly, it should have been.

    - Mitrione will now face the winner of Mohammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. Ryan Bader taking place on May 12th. Mitrione will have a huge size advantage in that fight as both King Mo and Bader are both natural Light Heavyweights. It is interesting though as Roy Nelson had the ability to take down Mitrione at will last weekend and both Mo and Bader are much more established wrestlers than Nelson is.

    - Tito Ortiz is claiming that he is interested in a 3rd fight with Chuck Liddell and has actually spoken to UFC about the fight however he was informed that UFC doctors will NOT medically clear Liddell to fight. If Liddell can be medically cleared, the fight will take place. Maybe not under the UFC banner but under Bellator MMA’s or another fighting promotion.

    - Apparently the “superfight” between Demetrious Johnson vs. T.J. Dillashaw is OUT and Johnson will next defend his title against Henry Cejudo. I do not know what caused this change but Cejudo’s trainer is claiming that he will get the next shot. I don’t know why since both Johnson and Dillashaw were game for the fight and it is the biggest fight both men can get right now.

    - It is believed (since UFC isn’t a public company, they don’t have to report numbers) that UFC Fight Pass currently has about 400,000 subscribers.

    - Current Invitca Flyweight champion Jennifer Maia has signed with UFC.

    - This weekend’s Fight Pass fight between Gabriel Burns and Oliver Aubin-Mercier was called off as Burns came to Orlando for the fight at 186 lbs. and had 3 days to cut to 156 lbs. UFC doctors felt that 3 days of weight cutting down 30 pounds would but too much a strain on his body and called the fights off for fear of his health. I am 100% on board with this.

UFC 222 is on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC WOMEN’S FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE: Cris “Cyborg” Justino © vs. Yana Kunitskaya
  • Frankie Edgar vs. Brian Ortega
  • Stefan Struve vs. Andre Arlovski
  • C.B. Dolloway vs. Hector Lombard
  • Cat Zingano vs. Ketlen Viera
  • UFC 223 is on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 from Brooklyn New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE: Tony Ferguson © vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
  • UFC WOMEN’S STRAWWEIGHT TITLE: Rose Namajunas © vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
  • Anthony Pettis vs. Michael Chiesa
  • Brandon Moreno vs. Ray Borg

Listen, I am a firm believer in don’t buy everything sold to you by the media but the flip side is that everything is not a conspiracy/false flag and that is a terrible way to live believing so. Especially in cases where people are dying by mass murder. What is more believable people, shootings happening in schools without it being some government plot or one government that FAKES every single solitary act of mass murder in our country? - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 5: Damn. This woman is going to feel real terrible when she is finally clean and sober and ready to get her life back together. Ugh. Brutal.

    - Marvel’s Black Panther has exceeded expectations on ALL fronts. On my personal list of all time Marvel movies, I now place it at #2 behind only “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. That is mainly however because Cap is my favorite super hero so I could technically see the argument for it being #1 on people’s list; at least until May 4th anyway. But not only did it exceed my expectations, it exceeded Box Office expectations as the original estimate by Disney was a $120 million opening weekend and it opened at $201 million for Friday – Sunday with an additional $34 million for President’s day. It is now the 2nd highest opening weekend for a Marvel film EVER trailing only the 1st Avenger’s film. Simply amazing. If you haven’t seen it, go see it. I saw it for a 2nd time yesterday. Still amazing.

    - It has passed $500 million worldwide.

    - “Walking Dead” actress Lauren Cohen (Maggie) has signed on to join ABC’s new comedy pilot “Whiskey Cavalier”. Cohen’s TWD contract expires at the end of this season. Hmmmm?

    - Famed Director Joss Whedon revealed that he has left WB and will not be directing “Batgirl” for the studio as he was unable to crack the story. That is a translation being that he was unable to come to a creative agreement with WB since they have their own vision for what their universe should be and WB doesn’t agree with the path they have chosen. WB is rumored to want a woman director for the film however Joss Whedon is the one who effectively made Buffy The Vampire Slayer a major star and wrote Black Widow in the Avengers as kind of an unsung hero willing to do whatever necessary in the “Avengers”. He knows how to write women’s empowerment roles. Ah…WB, keep being you.

    - I would be ecstatic if he left the project because Marvel offered him the chance to write and direct the impending Black Widow film. He left Marvel after “Age of Ultron” because he was overwhelmed and got a lot of notes on stuff to include and felt like there was too much interference. With Black Widow, so long a she doesn’t retcon her story; I fully believe he would have more creative freedom with it because it is not a “franchise” that will affect multiple storyline arcs across multiple films, especially if it is a prequel. The more creative freedom thing while telling a story he wants to tell would be big for him. Also considering he showed up for the Marvel 10th Anniversary photo a few months back could have opened that door for him.

    - Good analogy of the Super Hero Movie Genre. Super Hero Movies = The Monday Night Wars. Marvel Studios = WWE in the Attitude Era. WB = WCW under Vince Russo. Makes sense no?

    - Aquaman was screen tested this week at Warner Brothers. Fingers crossed.

    - Major props to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart as Jumanji cracked $900 million worldwide this week. While the film is finally beginning to die down with all major openings done, they are unlikely going to crack $1 BILLION at the box office but that is honestly irrelevant since no one thought they were going to make as much as they did already.

    - Star Wars Episode 9 begins filming in July as director J.J. Abrahams confirmed that the script has been completed and submitted.

    - Actor Chris Tucker has confirmed that “Rush Hour 4” is in the works with both he and Jackie Chan set to reprise their roles from the previous films. Nostalgia is a big deal now a days and with CGI and action scenes being better, this has the possibility to do very well at the box office.
