T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #439

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I am hoping that you readers have taken the time to lend a hand and donated to the JAIDAN STRONG cause for me. I’d really appreciate it if you did; as little as $5 can go a long way. If not, it isn’t a big deal but please at least SHARE THE LINK. I get that finances can be tough for some but taking the time to share a link via your social media doesn’t cost a dime. I’d appreciate it greatly as one of your friends or family members may be able to help out. Thanks.

BONUS MATT NOTE: James Guttman is the Dad of Hi Blog! I'm Dad.

- One more week to go and it appears that John Cena has NO DIRECT PATH TO WRESTLEMANIA AND MAY HAVE TO BUY A TICKET!!! OH NO!!!! Please just never mind the fact that everyone else has just been declaring themselves as entrants in the battle royal. Apparently Cena can’t do that so he will just have to watch since The Undertaker has been quiet and non-responsive. And he has to buy a ticket because despite being the top guy in the company for the past 13 years now and counting, WWE will not only NOT book him on the show, but they won’t comp him a ticket to the show.

- A major change in the Wrestlemania plans may be in the works as the return of Daniel Bryan might NOT be involving Shane McMahon. Shane was diagnosed with acute diverticulitis and is suffering from a slight umbilical hernia which will require surgery. His teaming with Bryan against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn is now in question despite WWE announcing the match as official on Smackdown. I fully believe that Shane will NOT be ready and this announcement is either a bait and switch or WWE is going to have wishful thinking or hopes he will be ok enough to compete in a little less than two weeks. The plan is that they hope the antibiotics Shane is on gets him healthy enough from the diverticulitis and he will NOT get the hernia repair surgery until AFTER Mania. That is just insane to me that he is going to try and work through that pain.

- Should WWE decide to try and find a replacement for Shane, a good and reasonable partner would be Chris Jericho however Jericho has a concert scheduled on that day and thus is not available. If it comes down to the need for Shane to be replace, I really hope they do not fall back into someone like Dolph Ziggler or Kane in reuniting “Team Hell No” for this. It should be someone involved with Owens and Zayn for storyline purposes.

- As of Monday afternoon, the talk amongst creative was that Samoa Joe would be the man to move to Smackdown and replace Shane should he not be able to compete. I’d be ok with that since Joe has history with all of them and with the year he had, DESERVES a spot on the Mania card.

- In continuation of the Owens/Zayn firing angle, the official Twitter account of El Generico tweeted for the first time since 2013; this coming on the heels of Kevin Owens changing his Twitter account back to Kevin Steen.

- Another point regarding Bryan’s clearing is that one of the doctors who evaluated him, Dr. Robert Cantu who is one of the worldwide leaders in concussions and CTE noted that Bryan’s brain scans reveal NO SIGNS of any brain injury and he has the brain of a normal human being that does NOT participate in combat sports.

- Jeff Hardy was backstage at RAW this week and is ready to return. Matt declared himself a participant in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on RAW meaning Jeff will either be in the Battle Royal as well or will be held off until RAW following Mania.

- In a weird coincidence, Monday fell on the day that the final WCW Monday Nitro aired back in 2001. RAW was held on Monday in the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland which happened to host RAW that aired on that night in 2001 opposite Nitro.

- Bray Wyatt tweeted the following over last weekend: “Everything is gray. I feel you fading. I failed you. You failed me. Don't leave me. Not in this place.”

- RAW was a solid show that just continued everything leading into Mania. The HHH and Stephanie video package was INCREDIBLE. Very well done and very heel-like.

- They have 100% given up on turning Lesnar heel leading into Mania because they booked him to destroy Roman again to thunderous applause from the crowd. I think WWE needs to throw in the towel and turn Reigns already. Have Heyman turn on Lesnar and join Reigns and be his mouthpiece moving forwards.

- Brilliant is a word I can use to describe Paul Heyman explaining away why Reigns isn’t in prison for assaulting U.S. Marshalls because Heyman said they weren’t Marshalls and he went to a local MMA gym earlier in that day and hired them. BOOM. How hard is it for WWE to do stuff like this to explain away plot holes? WWE just pretends that there aren’t any and hope we’d forget. You know, like the time Braun Strowman ATTEMPTED MURDER and was FIRED only to have the suspension lifted for no f*cking reason at all? Just take two seconds to explain it away rather than saying “Stephanie unfired him.”

- I am all for Nia Jax getting a run with the ball but she needs to absolutely SQUASH Alexa Bliss at Mania. That completely sucks for Bliss but you cannot book a match where the heel is a smoking hot blond that’s four feet tall against a six foot two, three hundred pound monster and expect fans not to cheer Bliss. Bliss will be the underdog. She has to fight from the bottom and therefore look like a brave warrior.

- Miz is the best heel in the company is he not? He was in his hometown of Cleveland. He was touting his homecoming all day long on social media including photos of him everywhere in Cleveland. Then he comes out on RAW for Miz TV and the fans pop big for him and he just flat out says “I live in L.A.”. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- “If I wanted a lifetime of failure I’d have stayed here in Cleveland instead of moving to L.A.”

- Jamie Frost better become the female James Ellsworth because she’s awesome. Perfect jobber for Asuka.

- Michael Cole apologized for his comments about “Ultimate Deletion” last week. Now my question is, was that Vince apologizing for the comments he told Cole to make or was that Cole just apologizing for burying it due to backlash from fans? Either way, the comment should never have been made and the ratings for the segment held up.

- IDIOTIC COMMENT OF THE WEEK: “The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal changes careers”. WTF? How? Not one Andre winner has become better for it. Show, Cesaro, Corbin, Rawley. All have been mid-carders since winning and I’d go far enough to say that other than Cesaro, everyone is LOWER on the totem pole since winning.

- So after weeks of teasing that Bayley was going to turn on Sasha Banks and snap, Banks attacked Bayley in the locker room? WWE even went far enough to book Bayley teaming with heel Elias on Live Events as a heel. WTF?

- What the f*ck was up with Ronda Rousey’s Eye makeup? Holy sh*t was that brutal as f*ck to look at. Whoever thought that was an ok idea needs to be fired, even if it was Rousey’s idea as it looked TERRIBLE.

- Look, I am hoping and praying that all of the training of Ronda is paying off and that come Mania time, she is going to be a female Kurt Angle but in all honesty, all of the moves she has displayed so far just look, MEH. She looks like she is legit going to injure someone. Her timing is WAY off. I mean, Shayna took to it like a fish and water and sure she probably cannot call an entire match on her own but she can work with opponents and put on solid matches. Ronda looks like she would be a deer in headlights in a singles match.

- Elias is awesome and should be Braun’s partner at Mania. It makes the most sense.

- Kudos to WWE for trying to salvage the last hour rating by putting Cena vs. Kane on last to close the show. No, please do not misunderstand me because I am not giving them props for putting that match on last saying it was a technical masterpiece. I say they are smart because most people expected the Undertaker therefore tuned in. Normally, with no storyline behind it, that match would have done abysmal numbers. But it didn’t drop off all that much which is a good thing. The match itself sucked though.

- RUSEV DAY!!! Thanks to the boost in sales of Rusev merchandise, WWE has pulled Rusev from his scheduled appearance in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal and added him to the U.S. title match making it a 4 way with Orton, Roode and Mahal. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he won the title.

- A.J. Styles returned to action over the weekend at WWE Smackdown Live events. He was kept limited to tag team matches and while he did wrestle, he didn’t do a lot. The belief is that he has an MCL injury that may have to require surgery but he is going to work through it at Mania and WWE is being super secretive about it.

- Am I the only one who thinks that the FINALLY booked Shunsuke Nakamura to look strong on Smackdown this week? His promos were good, his wrestling was good, his almost nailing A.J. with the “Kinsasha” only to not do it and f*ck with A.J. was GOLD. Well done.

- Daniel Bryan is a STAR. I don’t know any other way to put it. As much as I think the brand extension sucks, it does benefit Bryan because he can be on top of the Smackdown roster and we don’t need to worry about Roman Reigns being pushed ahead of him. Bryan, A.J., Nakamura, Owens, Zayn and Ziggler can be this generations “Smackdown Six”. If you don’t remember, when Paul Heyman was the head of creative for Smackdown during the original brand extention, he pushed the show around Kurt Angle, “He Who Shall Not Be Named”, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. They were the “Smackdown Six” and had Smackdown built around them that drew rave reviews because they would tear the house down each and every week.

- Does anyone know what happened to the Smackdown Top 10 Rankings? Go ahead, I will wait. Ok, still waiting. You don’t remember a few weeks ago when they announced rankings? LOL.

- WWE is going to have to shift a lot regarding their on screen authority figures. Bryan is returning to active wrestling so he will have to be forced to step down from his GM role and with Shane McMahon already stepping down due to not being able to remain impartial and now that he is injured, he would almost certainly need to be replaced after Mania. Over on RAW, there is no way they are going to have a match involving HHH & Steph against Kurt Angle on the other side that can keep Angle in power as GM or Steph as his boss following the results of that match. So they are going to have to introduce a lot of new faces or get rid of all of the positions completely. You would need names big enough to mean something to fans and be convincing in the roles. I could see Eric Bischoff being brought back in one of the slots. Hulk Hogan would make another solid GM. But you can’t go back to the Teddy Long slot or someone similar because it wouldn’t fly.

- Sports Illustrated is reporting that Braun Strowman’s partner is set to be Rey Mysterio. I 100% DO NOT BELIEVE THIS as no way would Mysterio announce last weekend that he plans on working New Japan dates if he is signed to come back at Mania. Now Mysterio is scheduled to be in New Orleans Mania weekend however he has way too many other commitments to fulfill before coming back to WWE and I don’t think WWE would bring him in until he finished some of those shots.

- In something that has quietly fallen under the radar, in addition to Brock Lesnar’s contract coming up at Wrestlemania, Paul Heyman’s contract will also be up at Mania. Many are expecting him to be offered a deal to stay on in some capacity and Heyman has expressed interest in managing both Ronda Rousey and Roman Reigns. Reigns is in the fact the best choice for Heyman as a heel turn for Roman is needed and Heyman is absolutely a guy who can sell that to fans. It would be HUGE for Reigns to have Heyman as his mouthpiece.

- Samoa Joe is currently penciled in for matches with Roman Reigns following Wrestlemania at Live Events so that is the plan moving forward.

- Mania is still not sold out but expected to be when show time arrives. RAW is SOLD OUT. The Hall of Fame and Smackdown are NOT sold out nor are they expected to be. NXT is close to selling out and will be a day of sell out if it is.

- The finals of the Mixed Match Challenge are now set to take place next week with Bobby Roode and Becky Lynch who was subbing for an injured Charlotte Flair will face off with The Miz and Asuka. Charlotte will return next week in her normal role. She was out of action following emergency dental surgery that also kept her off all live events and Smackdown this past week.

- Congratulations go out to WWE Intercontinental Champion Miz and his wife, WWE Superstar Maryse as they celebrated the birth of their daughter on Tuesday, March 27th. Her name is Monroe Sky Mizanin and weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 ounces.

- Lillian Garcia will be the special guest ring announcer for the Women’s Battle Royal at Wrestlemania. Don’t get why she wasn’t the ring announcer for the Women’s Royal Rumble though instead of Maria Menounos other than Menounos is a “bigger name”.

- WWE confirmed that Paul Heyman will be inducting Bill Goldberg into the WWE Hall of Fame and Molly Holly will be inducting Ivory on April 6th.

- Also confirmed is Jeff Jarrett’s inductor which will be The Road Dogg Jesse James.

- It looks like in addition to Ronda Rousey training hard for wrestling at the Performance Center with Kurt Angle, Sara Amato and Shayna Baszler; Stephanie McMahon is working hard at training MMA as she has been working with former MMA star Seth Petruzelli best known as the guy who knocked out Kimbo Slice on CBS.

- Four Horsewomen Jessamyn Duke has moved to Orlando where Ronda Rousey, Shayne Baszler and Marina Shafir all live. She has NOT been signed by WWE but has been training with her fellow horsewomen at the WWE Performance Center as well as the Team Vision Dojo in Orlando. Rousey has been living there during training. Baszler and Shafir both live there full time. Shafir is also not signed but with her husband Roderick Strong being in NXT and on the main roster for 205 Live, it is believed that she can wrestle there whenever she is ready.

- Although I fully expected it to happen, I didn’t think they would publicly say it but both WWE and ROH have been given exemptions to the Louisiana State Athletic Commission regulations in place banning such moves as pile drivers and other stuff due to the commission trusting both promotions and their athletes due to being “major league” wrestling companies.

- NXT has confirmed the Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano “unsanctioned match” at Takeover. Is it wrong that after Daniel Bryan’s return, this is my most looked forward to match Mania weekend? The official announcement by William Regal noted that if Ciampa wins, Gargano is gone from NXT however if Gargano wins, he gets his job back.

- Triple H, WWE EVP of Talent relations spoke about Brock Lesnar recently with the press. He noted that nothing is finalized and that both sides are talking but dealing with Brock is always a challenge. They are just talking and will see where they end up. He did note however that he speaks to Dana White regularly and that he has a very good relationship with the UFC.

- Triple H also revealed that he will be wrestling at the “Greatest Royal Rumble” show against John Cena. Also, the Intercontinental Title will be on the line in a 4-way Ladder Match with The Miz vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe. Also the RAW tag team titles will be defended by either The Bar or Braun Strowman & Mystery Partner against Matt & Jeff Hardy.

- Dean Ambrose was PULLED by WWE from all of the Mania weekend activities includes Axxess. He was also pulled from some non-WWE autograph signings that he was booked for. Apparently he visited Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham Alabama this week for evaluation. This means that something is wrong with his surgically repaired triceps and speculation is that he may require an additional surgery thus keeping him out of action longer. His originally targeted return date was July thus making his big return at Summerslam. That is now in question if he requires surgery. That sucks, badly.

- Former WWE Star Rosa Mendes is currently training for a return to wrestling. She left WWE after giving birth to a daughter. She and her daughter’s father are now separated.

- Thoughts and prayers go out to former WWE Star Vader as he underwent open heart surgery earlier this week. He is recovering in intensive care however doctors say his surgery was much more extensive than they had anticipated as there was significantly more damage than they originally thought.

- The WWE Network will be adding classic episodes of “WCW Saturday Night” starting on April 2nd. The episodes will range from 1992 – 1994.

- WWE released a press release yesterday noting that while Hulk Hogan attended the premiere of the “Andre the Giant” documentary for HBO, he was invited by HBO due to being an integral part of Andre’s life and career. "Hulk Hogan is an important part of Andre the Giant's history, however his appearance at the HBO premiere of the documentary and his plans to help others learn from his mistakes does not mean WWE is rehiring him. Hogan is not scheduled to be at any upcoming WWE events."

- “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig would have turned 60 this week while Umaga would have turned 45.

- WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch is STILL in prison. She has been transferred from New Jersey to Pennsylvania where she has a standing bench warrant for her arrest stemming from a DUI which violated her probation there.

- WWE continues to kick out of potential lawsuits as the concussion lawsuits of both Vito LoGrasso and Evan Singleton were thrown out of court. There is only one case remaining which has over 40 plaintiffs on it that will likely also be thrown out and WWE has already put in that request. That would successfully end all concussion lawsuits filed against them.

- As a reminder, the Wrestlemania Pre-Show will begin at 5:00 pm ET with the PPV portion of the show starting at 7:00 pm ET. The show is expected to run until midnight.

  • Ring of Honor / New Japan / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - After an incredible success last weekend at their Long Beach show, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that a G-1 Special will be held in San Francisco California on July 7th at the infamous Cow Palace. The building holds 14,000 people for wrestling and it is believed that they will sell out. It is a busy day for wrestling and MMA as 3,000 miles away in New York, WWE will be holding a special live event at Madison Square Garden that will feature Ronda Rousey’s MSG debut. Also, it is international fight week for MMA in nearby Las Vegas that is being headlined by UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic vs. UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. This show is a precursor to the annual G-1 Classic Tournament which begins on July 14th. The belief, as of this writing, is that the San Francisco show will be headlined by Kazuchika Okada, if he is still champion, defending the title against Kenny Omega.

    - To show you how important independent wrestling has become in 2018, All Pro Wrestling had the July 7th day booked for the Cow Palace when New Japan reached out to officials to book it. They decided that it was more important to the business to allow New Japan run the building and took a step back to run a smaller venue on July 6th. Had this been the early 2000’s, APW would have called commissions, made bomb threats, etc. to prevent New Japan from running.

    - Rey Mysterio made an on air appearance at “Strong Style Evolved” last weekend apologizing for not being able to wrestle on the show due to his biceps injury. He did promise however that he WILL make his New Japan debut soon meaning that despite any WWE negotiations he currently has, he still plans on fulfilling his commitments to NJPW. Will Ospreay ended up challenging him and is willing to put his IWGP Junior Title on the line against him. Mysterio also wants a match with Liger so it is entirely possible that he will wrestle twice. It was made even more interesting when after the Ospreay match, Matry Scurll attacked Ospreay. Mysterio made the save only to have Scurll take off Mysterio’s mask causing him to cover up his face. So we could in fact get 3 Mysterio NJPW matches or at least a multi person match.

    - One would think that New Japan is going to STACK the July 7th show at the Cow Palace so having Okada vs. Omega, Ospreay vs. Mysterio and possibly even Naito vs. Jericho would go a long way to doing that.

    - ROH’s “Supercard of Honor” is NOT sold out but close to it and will likely sell out the day of the show. In all honesty, it doesn’t matter at this point if it sells out or not because they have already set their all-time attendance record for the show. They are almost 400 tickets shy of a sellout. They currently have 5,428 tickets sold to date. WOW.

    - Cody and The Young Bucks have announced that Penta OM and Rey Fenix are “All In”. They join Kenny Omega, Marty Scurll, Hangman Page, Stephen Amell, Brandi Rhodes and Tessa Blanchard.

    - The Latest Episode of BEING THE ELITE is on You Tube.

    - Katsuyori Shibata, new head coach at the New Japan Dojo in Los Angeles revealed at the grand opening last Saturday that his in-ring career isn’t over and that he plans on wrestling for New Japan again.

    - Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ended up with an accident on their part turn into a blessing in disguise. Last weekend, PWG held their first show since 2006 outside the American legion Hall in Reseda California due to a ticket snafu when tickets to the show went on sale. Apparently they sold the same seats twice to a number of fans. Rather than issue refunds and sell the tickets again, they moved venue for the first time in over a decade to the Globe Theater in downtown Los Angeles. So instead of their usual crowd of 400 – 450 people, they were in a building that could hold 700. Well they sold out the building of 700. As it turns out, they lucked out because The American Legion, their home base since 2006 has been SOLD and therefore they now need a new home base which will be the Globe Theater. PWG announced that they have a double shot on April 20th and 21st followed by the final show in the American Legion on May 25th. PWG kept the shows small at the Legion because they would ALWAYS sell out instantly and they even had ridiculous prices for an independent show with the cost being $103 for front row and $80 for general admission. At those prices, they were getting a gate of about $30,000 per show which is unheard of for an independent show. At the Globe Theater, with the same prices and selling out 700 seats, the gate has doubled earning them $50,000 - $60,000. AMAZING.

    - Aaron Solow, independent wrestler and the fiancé of WWE’s Bayley wrestled on a “Wrestle Circus” show over the weekend. He was called “Mr. Bayley” on commentary by the announcers. Now it is one thing to get chants from fans at shows for that but commentators paid for by the promotion calling him Mr. Bayley is unacceptable and honestly disrespectful.

    - Congrats to Court Bauer and MLW as they announced that they have a television deal with BeinSports to begin airing shows on Friday’s at 8:00 pm ET with a replay at 11:00 pm ET. They also announced that they are going to do weekly television and have begun signing talents to contracts. Said contracts would prevent talents from leaving to WWE however will allow them to work other promotions with television. They must be available to all MLW TV tapings unless a taping is announced AFTER they have bookings overseas. So if they signed Will Ospreay for example and he has a New Japan tour when they announced a TV taping, his New Japan tour would take precedence. But if they announce a TV date, he cannot take a separate date in Japan if he was booked for MLW first.

    - Lucha Underground has completed their season 4 taping with the Ultima Lucha show being taped on March 18th. Jake Strong formerly known as Jack Swagger will end the season as Champion.

    - Jeff Cobb is DONE with Lucha Underground as he was released from his contract following the Ultima Lucha taping.

NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING’S “SAKURA GENESIS” is on Sunday, April 1st, 2018 from Sakura Japan and the line-up is as follows:

  • ROH TRIOS TITLES: So Cal Unsensored © (Christopher Daniels/Frankie Kazarian/Scorpio Sky) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & Flip Gordon IN A LADDER WAR
  • Kota Ibushi vs. “Hangman” Adam Page

    - Sami Callihan is expected to be featured more heavily due to all of the promotion he has been getting over the baseball bat incident with Eddie Edwards. The next set of tapings will be heavily focused on him and OVE.

    - With Jeff Cobb becoming a free agent after being released by Lucha Underground, TNA has offered him a two-year deal but he has not accepted it as of this writing.

    - Props to Impact as they held live events in California last weekend and drew 950 fans and 700+ fans respectively for their two shows.

    - The Impact vs. Lucha Underground show next weekend is NOT sold out as of yet but it is expected to be sold out come showtime as tickets are moving well.

    - The current plan is for Impact to do a TON of taping over the weekend for live streaming via Twitch.

    MMA News and Notes:

    - Josh Barnett won a MAJOR LEGAL BATTLE against USADA last weekend which could change the face of drug suspensions and test failures. An independent arbitrator ruled that Barnett should have received a public reprimand for his December 2016 out of competition test failure for ostarine as Barnett was able to prove that his failure came from a tainted supplement that he had legally purchased and listed as one of the supplements he was taking leading into his fight and did NOT list ostarine as an ingredient. Arbitrator Richard McLaren noted: “One the evidence before me, the applicant is NOT a drug cheat. He did ingest ostarine but did so unknowingly and was able to prove it.” It is possible that Barnett will now sue UFC for lost wages as he has not fought in two years due to this legal case.

    - On and off and on and off. Dana White once again noted that T.J. Dillashaw vs. Demetrious Johnson is NOT happening as of now and not in the works for UFC.

    - Anthony Pettis revealed that C.M. Punk is probably the hardest working fighter at Roofus Sport and that he has improved significantly since his debut.

    - There is still no deal close to being in place regarding television for UFC. WME-IMG is still negotiating with Fox however Fox has been courting WWE as of late and that would in fact affect any deals with UFC. WME-IMG was hoping for a significant increase in TV rights fees when they purchased UFC from the Fertitta’s but with WWE in the mix and sagging UFC ratings that may now not be the case.

    - UFC Fight Pass is currently sitting at about 400,000 subscribers. That is a good number for them and does make them a good amount of income.

UFC 223 is on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 from Brooklyn New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE: Tony Ferguson © vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
  • UFC WOMEN’S STRAWWEIGHT TITLE: Rose Namajunas © vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
  • Anthony Pettis vs. Michael Chiesa
  • Brandon Moreno vs. Ray Borg
  • UFC 224 is on Saturday, May 12th, 2018 from Rio De Janerio Brazil and the line-up is as follows:

    - BONUS Random VIDEO of the week Part 5: Official Trailer for “The House with a Clock in its Walls”

    - THIS LINK is for LIFE. Thank you soldiers. WELCOME HOME BLOG.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: This is a HUGE story that is going to have ramifications that is going to shake up the entire world of Social Media from top to bottom when it is all said and done.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 1: Do advertising departments not have any sort of control checks in place? Not one single person saw anything questionable about this ad and said “Maybe we should rethink this before putting it out there?” Wow.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: Yeah, some explaining is needed here as to how this couldn’t have been avoided and how come no one saw warning signs or knew anything in advance.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: Thank god for idiots. The guy ratted himself out. LOLZ. What a doofus. Good thing he did though because he could have hurt a lot of damn people.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 4: Such a shame. I still feel that if you don’t think you can handle children, don’t have or adopt any. Prospective parents should also take mental aptitude tests before being allowed to breed. Why kill all the children? It just blows my mind that people can be so selfish.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 5: I’ve never understood why this sicko hasn’t been investigated more thoroughly? This alleged abuse has been going on for DECADES. Tons of accusations but never any proof.

    - Black Panther set another record as it has become the HIGHEST GROSSING Super hero film of all time in U.S. history and is 3rd highest of all time globally. It may end up highest globally, at least until the end of May when both those records are smashed by Infinity War.

    - In fantastic news for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that “Captain Marvel” will feature actor Clark Gregg a.k.a. Agent Phil Coulson reprising his role from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Captain Marvel” tells the story of former Shield Agent Carol Danvers who gains extraordinary super powers during the Kree/Skrull war in the 1990’s. It is a prequel that will also feature Samuel Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury, BEFORE he got his eyepatch. The film will also see actors Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace reprising their roles from Guardians of the Galaxy as Korath and Ronan The Accuser respectively.

    - Speaking of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; it is still firing on all cylinders. I failed to mention the 100Th episode which was fantastic but this past episode was even better with Fitz going rogue to fix the situation. It is simple storytelling yet impactful. I am going to be so disappointed if the show ends this season because it really has some of the best writing on television and the cast is amazing in their roles, including Deke whose heartfelt conversation with Gemma was GOLD.

    - S.H.I.E.L.D., while still not renewed for a 6th season, is getting closer to getting that renewal and it is believed that ABC is leaning towards keeping it for an additional season which would be AMAZING because it is really a fantastic show. I feel awfully bad for those fans who are fans of the MCU but gave up on the show during season one because it really is great stuff.

    - In a sign that Disney may be beginning to take the reins with their merger of Fox, both “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” and “The New Mutants” have had their release dates pushed out with Phoenix from November 2018 to February 2019 and New Mutants from April 2018 to August 2019. This could eventually lead to both movies, despite being filmed, ending up scrapped once Disney has full control and all the T’s are crossed and I’s dotted. As of now, the official reasoning comes from Fox’s end of the deal noting that both are undergoing reshoots. Dark Phoenix revolving around the third act of the film needing re-doing and due to most of the cast tied up in other projects, the re-shoots will take some time. Initial screenings of the film did come back with favorable reviews. As for New Mutants, apparently 50% or more of the film will be re-shot which tells you how dead in the water this movie is as that may cost a substantial amount of money therefore may be scrapped altogether by the time the Disney deal falls through.

    - The animated “Deadpool” series being produced by Donald Glover and starring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Deadpool has been scrapped by FXX due to creative differences.

    - This week was a snooze fest episode of The Walking Dead this week. Not really ending the season in high gear. Disappointed.

    - Done with season 2 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones. It was a good season I thought. It definitely is not on par with the Punisher or Daredevil but a step above both Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

    - Netflix has renewed the reboot of “One Day At A Time” for a 3rd season. I didn’t watch much of the original one but have been watching this one and quite honestly, it is pretty funny. I enjoy it. Sitcoms are a lost art and there aren’t many good ones like there were when I was growing up. Coming home from school and doing homework while I watched cartoons until the 4 pm-ish hour when shows like Different Strokes, The Facts of Life, Three’s Company, etc. aired followed by family evening programming that had good sitcoms as well. All of that has been replaced by prime time dramas and reality shows.

    - Just not enough hours in a week for me. I have deleted WB’s “Black Lightning” from my DVR after not having watched a single episode. No one has said anything positive or negative about it to me meaning no one is watching therefore I figured I would catch it on Netflix in August when it drops.

    - Speaking of WB, “Legends of Tomorrow” star Caity Lotz will reprise her role of Sarah Lance/White Canary on the season finale of WB’s “Arrow”.

    - John Cena continues to wow them in Hollywood as he has been apparently offered the lead role of DUKE NUKEM, the movie based on the hit video game as well as a supporting actor role in the reboot of Dr. Doolittle starring Robert Downey Jr.
