T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #440

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I am hoping that you readers have taken the time to lend a hand and donated to the JAIDAN STRONG cause for me. I’d really appreciate it if you did; as little as $5 can go a long way. If not, it isn’t a big deal but please at least SHARE THE LINK. I get that finances can be tough for some but taking the time to share a link via your social media doesn’t cost a dime. I’d appreciate it greatly as one of your friends or family members may be able to help out. Thanks.

BONUS MATT NOTE: R.I.P. to famed television producer Steven Bochco as he passed away on Sunday at age 74. Bochco changed the face of television with gritty law television shows like L.A. Law, Hill Street Blues and the game changer for primetime television, NYPD Blue. He also helped create such shows as Doogie Howser M.D. and Hooperman starring the late John Ritter.

- Also R.I.P. goes out to WWE Hall of Famer “Luscious” Johnny Valiant as he passed away at age 71 earlier this week when he was struck by a vehicle crossing a street in his hometown of Pittsburgh. He was crossing against the light and NOT in the crosswalk when struck. The driver remained on the scene and was questioned. Sad.

MATT'S AIGHT NOTE: James Guttman is the Dad of Hi Blog! I'm Dad.

WWE NEWS AND NOTES:

- It’s MANIA WEEKEND. Tons of happenings going on and this week and next week are usually my biggest columns of the year due to all of the news and notes going into and coming out of this weekend.

- NXT, Mania and RAW are all SOLD OUT. There are a TON of Hall of Fame tickets available for tonight and it will not sell out. Smackdown is also far from a sell out and unless something big happens at Mania or on RAW hyping Smackdown, it is unlikely that it will be sold out.

- JOHN CENA HAS NO CLEAR PATH TO WRESTLEMANIA!!! The Go-Home show to Mania has come and gone and John Cena STILL has no opponent. No Undertaker. He didn’t show up to accept Cena’s challenge. So Cena, who WWE will NOT comp a ticket, will have to buy a ticket to the show via Stubhub and watch the show from the audience. I do give props to Cena for covering in his promo why he wasn’t “declaring” for the Battle Royal as he has been on a losing streak and doesn’t want to take a slot from someone who has been working all year for an opportunity to wrestle on Mania. That being said, Curt Hawkins BETTER NOT BE in the battle royal since he is winless in 2018.

- I was not pleased with Stephanie putting Ronda Rousey through a table on RAW on Monday. I get it, there needed to be some sort of one-up by Stephanie leading into Mania but I would have been more pleased with Stephanie hiring someone on the roster to jump Ronda or have HHH lay her out leading to the PPV. Also noteworthy, Ronda’s selling isn’t that good. Ugh.

- Who the f*ck is going to be Braun’s partner? Brains Strowman was cheesy but necessary to keep the surprise. I don’t think it is going to be Elias now as they have shied away from that and the tease seems to be that Elias is doing some sort of concert (Which I predict will be interrupted by The Rock), so that leaves Bray Wyatt maybe? James Ellsworth did have an interesting tweet on Wednesday noting that every good movie has a sequel meaning it could be him. Either him or Wyatt both fit in from a storyline perspective since Wyatt “brought him in” and Ellsworth started him on his awesome Monster solo run.

- Who is the f*cking heel in the Banks/Bayley storyline? It was originally supposed to be Bayley but then Banks started acting heel like and on Monday did a dickish heel thing by asking Bayley to raise her arm after she saved her. Bayley however attacked Banks. WTF?

- The Asuka video packages are awesome and not for nothing but if the hope is to build Rousey into a mega-star as planned, Rousey shouldn’t lose and neither should Asuka until next Mania. Rousey vs. an undefeated for four year Asuka could possibly main event Mania.

- Did the Miz turn face on Monday? Hard to be a heel when you just had a baby and then not only talk about the baby non-stop while on commentary but talking about how it changed your outlook on life and stuff is 100% pure babyface.

- If he didn’t turn babyface on Monday, he sure as sh*t did on Tuesday in the video package for the Mixed Match Challenge as it showed that he and Asuka were fighting for a dog charity and then proceeded to show him taking care of dogs who were adorable and licking his face. Who the f*ck doesn’t like dogs? Between the dog loving and him gushing over his newborn daughter, the man did a complete 180 into likeable person.

- Rollins vs. Balor was GOLD. Damn can those guys go or what? I believe them along with Miz have to potential to be the best match of Mania. Better than Nakamura vs. A.J. depending on how much time they get. But they are definitely going to bust their asses to prove their worth on Sunday.

- It is expected by EVERYONE in the company that Brock Lesnar is done following his Mania match with Roman Reigns. UFC President Dana White has pretty much confirmed this earlier this week revealing that Lesnar WILL fight for UFC in 2018; it is just a matter of when. Lesnar is NOT expected at Raw on Monday.

- SHINSUKA NAKAMURA VS. A.J. STYLES in their Wrestle Kingdom 10 match for New Japan. WATCH IT!!!!

- WWE has also filmed a MINI DOCUMENTARY on Shinsuke Nakamura and his Royal Rumble win as well as his Road to Wrestlemania.

- WWE revealed that Beth Phoenix will be doing commentary for the Women’s Battle Royal at Mania. Her partners will be WWE Hall of Famer’s Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler as they are commentating the entire pre-show.

- The hosts of the pre-show panel will be Renee Young and WWE Hall of Famer “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels, sans ponytail as he cut it off for the first time in decades. WWE.com has video of the haircut on their site. They will be joined throughout the pre-show by several different guests. The pre-show begins at 5:00 pm ET and the first match will likely begin around 5:30 pm ET.

- WWE is doing a VIDEO DIARY with Daniel Bryan. In it, they have footage of Bryan training in the ring and he does his first backflip off the top rope in over three years.

- P.S. That is one of the conference rooms at the WWE Hotel in New Orleans. For those who do not know, WWE sets up two rings at the hotel every year so that the roster can work out, go over spots for matches, etc. They also lock down the entire hotel and you are NOT allowed in the building without a room key or accompanied by someone with a room key. They buy out the entire hotel so that the whole WWE staff from the front office to the roster to the production people stay at the same hotel.

- WWE revealed the inductees to their “Legacy Wing” for tonight’s Hall of Fame. The inductees are: Stan Stasiak, Lord Alfred Hayes, Cora Combs, El Santo, Jim Londos, Rufus J. Jones, Sputnik Monroe and Boris Malenko.

- Former WWE Star Dave Batista revealed this week that WWE did in fact reach out to him to be Ronda Rousey’s partner at Wrestlemania but he couldn’t come to terms due to his “Avengers: Infinity War” press commitments.

- Daniel Bryan has been confirmed as a participant in the “Greatest Royal Rumble” match on April 27th in Saudi Arabia. The event will air live on the WWE Network at noon ET with a replay to follow.

- The show itself is being held in a 62,000 seat arena so WWE is going with the idea as if it is a “Wrestlemania” caliber type show.

- It is interesting to note that former Impact Wrestling Star and NXT wrestler, “Cowboy” James Storm was backstage at RAW this week in Atlanta. No word on whether or not he was visiting or negotiating.

- No deal with Rey Mysterio has been finalized yet. He is NOT expected to be on the Wrestlemania show but is in New Orleans for appearances so you can expect him to be backstage and talking to WWE at some point.

- WWE announced earlier this week that Hall of Famer “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart will be inducted Hillbilly Jim into the WWE Hall of Fame tonight with the Big Show inducting Mark Henry into the Hall.

- It was also revealed that Big Show will be returning to the ring for the first time in a year at the “Biggest Royal Rumble Ever” on April 27th in Saudi Arabia as he will be one of the 50 participants.

- While on the subject of Show, he revealed earlier this week that he has signed a new contract with WWE for several more years and has no plans on retiring anytime soon.

- How awesome is it that Elias walked into a club unannounced in the French Quarter last night and performed onstage? Amazing.

- WWE is scheduled to film an episode of “Table for 3” this week with Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett was backstage at Smackdown this week and WWE filmed footage of him catching up with several old friends including A.J. Styles, Natalya, Arn Anderson, Charles Robinson, Michael Hayes and more.

- As expected, Asuka and Miz won the inaugural “Mixed Match Challenge” defeating “The Robe Warriors” of Bobby Roode and Charlotte in the finals.

- Congrats to Mike and Maria Kanellis as they welcomed their daughter into the world on Wednesday, Frederica Moon Bennett.

- Also congrats to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as his longtime girlfriend is expecting his 2nd child with her, a daughter. Johnson has a well-known 3rd daughter named Simone from his previous marriage to his manager and business partner Dani Garcia.

- On Wednesday, Carmella became the WWE’s longest holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase as she has not held the briefcase for 283 days as of today. She surpassed Edge’s record of 280 days.

- Both Keith Lee and WALTER are scheduled to work the NXT shows at Axxess this weekend. Both are in singles matches against Kassius Ohno.

- WWE is also planning on running tournaments during Axxess with number one contender tournaments for the WWE U.K. Title, the NXT North American Title, The NXT Tag Team Titles and the NXT Women’s Title. The tournament began yesterday with some first round matches. The tournament ends on Sunday morning with the champions defending their titles against the winners of the tournament.

- In hyping NXT Takeover, Triple H revealed that with the talent depth on the roster, some movements are going to be made over the next several months with people moving up to the main roster and some people not holding their weight getting cut. He also noted however that he plans on utilizing the same formula of UFC and boxing does by rotating top talent noting that EVERY star does not need to be on EVERY show.

- Drew McIntyre is ready to return to action and has been medically cleared. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Takeover tomorrow night.

- Congrats to former WWE star Santino Marella as he announced that he and his wife are expecting a baby girl.

- The Andre the Giant documentary done by HBO and set to debut next week had their premiere last weekend. Apparently there are a few historical inaccuracies but for the most part, it was kept truthful and accurate with no major glaring mistakes. The star of the documentary is apparently Hulk Hogan who comes off like a million bucks in it according to those who saw it.

- WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page is doing a documentary called “Credible” based on the life and pitfalls of Peter Polanco a.k.a. Justin Credible and his battle with addiction. The documentary will be in the same vein as the “Resurrection of Jake the Snake”. Credible has been sober for about three months now. He currently weights about 230 lbs. down from his high of 300+ lbs.

- The new season of “Total Bellas” will debut on E! on Sunday, May 20th. No word on what the 3rd season will be about as season 1 featured Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella moving in with John Cena and Nikki Bella as Nikki recovered from neck surgery. Season 2 revolved around Nikki and John moving to Arizona so Nikki could help her sister Brie during her pregnancy.

- John Cena as SPECIAL GUEST on the #1 show on latenight, Desus and Mero.

- Good read from Rolling Stone Magazine on THE PEOPLE’S CHAMP Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: The Wrestlemania Pre-Show on Sunday will begin at 5:00 pm ET with the PPV portion of the show starting at 7:00 pm ET. The show is expected to run until midnight.

  • Ring of Honor / New Japan / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - Will Ospreay almost DIED last weekend. That is the best way to describe it as he wrestled an incredible IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title defense against Marty Scrull in Japan at Sakura Genesis and decided to do a “Spanish Fly” on Scurll off the apron although he didn’t get a full rotation and landed directly on his head and neck. Realistically he is lucky he didn’t break his neck immediately and DIE because it was BRUTAL. He managed to finish the match which is a testament to his heart and dedication but backstage following, he told doctors he was in excruciating pain which is a big announcement for him considering he has been in all sorts of pain for a while. With that being said, Ospreay was examined by physicians earlier this week and has noted that he WILL be wrestling all scheduled dates in New Orleans this weekend. This kid is going to be in a wheelchair by the time he is 40. SMH.

    - Kazuchika Okada defeated Zack Sabre Jr. to successfully defend his IWGP Title for a 11th time tying the record for most title defenses. He now has a new challenger however in longtime rival Hiroshi Tanahashi. Tanahashi challenged him following the match with Sabre so when they meet, Okada will be chasing history as he looks to break Tanahashi’s record of 11. The match has been confirmed to take place on May 4th in Fukoka.

    - The latest episode of BEING THE ELITE.

    - Ring of Honor has announced that Chuck Taylor vs. Jonathan Gresham will be the opening match of “Supercard of Honor” tomorrow night with a bell time of 8:30 pm ET and will stream live on “Honor Club”.

    - Supercard of Honor is a SELL OUT with 5,843 tickets sold. It is the largest crowd in the history of Ring of Honor by a few thousand people.

    - ROH is main eventing their April 28th show in Lakeland Florida with all of their champions teaming up to take on four members of the Bullet Club.

    - Congrats to Brandi Rhodes as she makes her Stardom debut on April 30th in Japan. This is a huge step for her improvement in the ring as the match quality is significantly higher in Stardom than on the independents. It also shows how much she has improved since she began her in ring journey.

    - Gabe Sapolsky of EVOLVE revealed that he spoke with several members of the Louisiana State Athletic Commission and that all the hullabaloo about banned moves this week are nothing as the only thing 100% banned are piledrivers. Everything else on the list is fine. I do assume that Gabe has some leeway since he is WWE affiliated therefore WWN Live promotions are going to get some freedom.

    - Matt Riddle captured the EVOLVE Championship over Zack Sabre Jr. at the EVOLVE 102 show last night in New Orleans. Riddle is going to have a HUGE 2018.

    - Also on the show, Will Ospreay didn’t skip a beat as he defeated AR Fox in a fantastic match and did all of his usual high flying antics.

    - WrestleCon’s Supershow more than delivered with a TON of solid action and surprises last night. Joey Ryan continued his intergender challenges that he has been doing around the world. This time however, he was met by WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler. Ryan won the bout by DQ when Lawler shot a fireball at Joey’s penis and Ryan SOLD IT!!!! The main event had the Golden Lovers of Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi teaming against Chuck Taylor and Flip Gordon. Omega and Ibushi won after nailing the “Golden Trigger” on Flip. Hiroshi Tanahashi wrestled UNNANNOUNCED in a six man tag. The show was very good from a technical standpoint and there are a bunch more shows taking place tonight.

    - There was an incident at an independent show last week where a wrestler spit gum at a young girl to garner heel heat and he was immediately pummeled by the girl’s father at ringside. Now look, I am all for getting heel heat and trying to be as dastardly when you do it but to spit on a young girl, that is was over the line and I am 100% supportive of the father for doing what he had to do in beating the living sh*t out of said wrestler. He has since apologized via twitter and the father was NOT kicked out of the arena.

    - Low-Ki was forced to pull out of “Game Changer Wrestling’s Bloodsport” show by Matt Riddle last night citing a neck injury. The show featured all matches having to end by submission or referee stoppage. Ki was scheduled to fight in the main event of the show against Riddle. My guess is, and this is just pure speculation, is that he was told the finish and balked at it as he has a tendency to not want to do jobs to anyone, especially by submission or knockout. He will be replaced by New Japan’s Minoru Suzuki. Suzuki won the match by tapping out Riddle.

    - It is a real shame that Ki has never learned to do business. He is so uber talented but always lets his gimmick/persona get in his way. He is a modern day Sabu and it is a definite downer to see all of his peers who he is on par with in the ring such as A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, etc. all succeed in professional wrestling while Low-Ki has been blackballed by all of the major promotions showing huge success and growth. WWE, Impact, Ring of Honor, New Japan, Evolve etc. all won’t book him due to difficulties they have had with him regarding creative decisions.

    - For those asking, WWN Live is streaming most (but not all) of the independent shows taking place this weekend. From Matt Riddle’s “Bloodsport” to Evolve to Joey Janela’s Spring Break Part 2 to Shimmer, etc. I believe there are packages where you can buy most or all shows for one price. As far as the other shows, ROH will air on the Honor Club site. Impact vs. Lucha Underground will air on Impact’s “Twitch” channel. All of the WWE stuff obviously is airing on the WWE Network. But everything is airing somewhere so if you aren’t in New Orleans and want to catch a ton of wrestling, WWN Live is the destination for you.

    - Pro Wrestling Revolver, Combat Zone Wrestling, PROGRESS Wrestling and a few others are NOT streaming this weekend.

    - Congrats to Matt Taven as he defeated Volador Jr. to capture the NWA Welterweight Title in CMLL in Mexico over the weekend. Volador has held onto the title since August of 2014 and the title switch was unexpected.

    - During a Q&A at WrestleCon, former WWE Star Al Snow announced that he has purchased Ohio Valley Wrestling. He will be the sole owner, trainer and booker for the promotion.

    - Jack Evans is also back with CMLL as he quit the Crash promotion last weekend. One of the reasons he went to the Crash is because when he was fired from AAA, Konnan was booking the Crash and is a HUGE fan of Evans. With Konnan gone from the Crash, Evans felt it was time to go.

    - Evans, along with Angelico, has requested releases from Lucha Underground.

    - In an impressive feat, Kenji Mutoh a.k.a. The Great Muta underwent double knee replacement surgery last week and is already walking with crutches. He promises to wrestle again although at his age with his history of knee problems and coming off double replacement, this is probably not the best idea if he wants to maintain a solid quality of life.

    - Longtime promoter Jerry Jarrett is launching his own reality show based on the hit TV show “America’s Got Talent” called “Olympus Wrestling”. The show will feature independent matches with judges scoring the talent and the matches to determine who advances. Robert Fuller a.k.a. Col. Robert Parker and Jim Cornette will be judges of the show.

RING OF HONOR’S “SUPERCARD OF HONOR” is TOMORROW NIGHT from New Orleans Louisiana and the line-up is as follows:

  • Cody w/Brandi Rhodes vs. Kenny Omega
  • ROH TITLE: Dalton Castle © vs. Marty Scurll
  • ROH TV TITLE: Kenny King © vs. Silas Young in a LAST MAN STANDING MATCH
  • Tomihiro Ishii vs. Punishment Martinez
  • ROH TAG TEAM TITLES: The Briscoes © (Mark & Jay) vs. Jay Lethal & Hiroshi Tanahashi
  • WOMEN OF HONOR SEMIFINALS: Kelly Klein vs. Mayu Iwatani
  • WOMEN OF HONOR SEMIFINALS: Tenille Dashwood vs. Sumie Sakai
  • WOMEN OF HONOR TITLE MATCH: TBD vs. TBD
  • ROH TRIOS TITLES: So Cal Unsensored © (Christopher Daniels/Frankie Kazarian/Scorpio Sky) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & Flip Gordon IN A LADDER WAR
  • Kota Ibushi vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
  • Chuck Taylor vs. Jonathan Gresham
  • TNA/GLOBAL FORCE IMPACT WRESTLING NEWS and NOTES:

    - Impact has quietly continued to improve and gain viewers and traction. Last week’s edition of Impact was the highest rated episode of the show since “The Final Deletion” on July 5th, 2016. They are improving and the storylines, while not great, are so much easier to follow and understand without having that dirty feeling of wanting to kill yourself afterwards.

    - Bobby Lashley was written off of Impact television this week after being laid out by Brian Cage. It was Lashley’s last appearance with the company and he is expected to start with WWE shortly, possibly as soon as Mania or the Raw following Mania.

    - Impact is going to air over 30 hours of live footage on Twitch this weekend in New Orleans with Sonjay Dutt and Josh Matthews as hosts all across all events they attend.

    - Congrats to Johnny Impact a.k.a. John Morrison as he and longtime girlfriend Taya Valkerie are getting married on June 1st.

IMPACT WRESTLING VS. LUCHA UNDERGROUND is TONIGHT from New Orleans Louisiana and the line-up is as follows:

  • IMPACT CHAMPION Austin Aries © & Fenix vs. Alberto El Patron & Pentagon
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Jerimiah Crane (Sami Callihan in his LU gimmick) in an ”I QUIT MATCH”
  • KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION Allie © vs. Taya Valkerie
  • IMPACT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: LAX © (Ortiz & Santana) vs. Killshot (Shane Strickland) & Da Mack (Willie Mack)
  • Andrew Everett/Dezmond Xavier/DJZ vs. King Cuerno/Aerostar/Drago
  • “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner & Teddy Hart vs. OVE (Dave & Jake Crist)
  • Brian Cage vs. Eli Drake
  • Trevor Lee vs. Famous B
  • Matt Sydal vs. Caleb Conley vs. Moose vs. Chavo Guerrro vs. Jack Evans vs. Matzana Cuerto (Jeff Cobb)
  • MMA News and Notes:

    - DOWN GOES FERGUSON!!!! Once again, just mere days away from the biggest fight of his career, Tony Ferguson had to withdraw from his UFC Lightweight Title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov due to a partially torn LCL in his knee which will require surgery. This is the 4th TIME the fight has been advertised and cancelled. Due to the short withdrawal and UFC wanting to keep this event, they have signed UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway to replace Ferguson and fight for the title. Holloway, with no training camp and moving up a weight class, will look to become just the 2nd fighter in UFC history to hold two titles in different weight classes with a win. It is a longshot because Khabib mauls people but if he does get the win, he will jump to the front of the line in the Conor McGregor sweepstakes. Holloway won the vacant Featherweight title when McGregor was forced to vacate it after he won the Lightweight Title. So Holloway is sticking to the McGregor playbook and could now not only become 2nd to win two titles in different weight divisions but they will be the same titles McGregor held. The storyline writes itself.

    - Conor McGregor was officially STRIPPED of the Lightweight Title and Ferguson, due to being interim champion and unable to defend is no longer the champion either. The winner of Nurmagomedov vs. Holloway will be declared undisputed champion and likely will fight McGregor in September.

    - Then….the press conference happened at the Barclay’s Center on Thursday and ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. Conor McGregor showed up at the press conference with an entourage and raised a huge f*cking ruckus. He went looking for the bus that was taking everyone back to the hotels in order to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov following the conference in the loading dock area and began throwing bike racks, chairs and anything not nailed down at the busses. He throw a dolly/hand truck at the window of the bus breaking it which ended up injuring UFC star Michael Chiesa in the process and almost injuring UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rosa Namajunas.

    - McGregor’s stablemate Artem Lobov was part of McGregor’s entourage that stormed the arena and was pulled from his UFC fight tomorrow for participating in the incident. Conor went batsh*t crazy over Nurmagomedoz and Lobov getting into a confrontation earlier this week at the hotel.

    - Michael Chiesa, fighting in one of the most anticipated fights on the card on Saturday against Anthony Pettis, is now questionable for the show due to suffering facial lacerations in the incident when he was struck by broken glass on one of the busses.

    - Ray Borg was also injured in the fracus getting some glass in his eye and was forced to withdraw from the show. So due to McGregor’s deplorable actions, 3 fights have been cancelled from the card tomorrow.

    - A warrant was issued for Conor McGregor’s arrest several hours following the incident. He turned himself in alongside his attorney around midnight to the 78th Precinct in Brooklyn. He was held overnight and charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of felony criminal mischief.

    - Conor McGregor is a moron. That is a fact. Dana White has stated publicly that this was the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in UFC history. He also noted that normally he would be front and center if one of his fighters got involved in an incident asking what he can do to help and trying to pull strings; but not this time.

    - One of McGregor’s teammates, Cian Crowley was also charged with assault for his role in the incident.

    - And then, weigh ins came and DOWN GOES HOLLOWAY!!!! The updated main event of UFC 223 has once again been updated as Max Holloway was deemed unfit to compete by the New York State Athletic Commission. Holloway, when selected for the fight last Saturday weight in at 180 lbs. So essentially he had six days to drop 30 pounds. Extremely more tough when someone hasn’t been training in months like Holloway was since he was coming off a broken ankle.

    - Anthony Pettis was chosen to replace Holloway since his fight with Michael Cheisa was cancelled and was scheduled to take place at 155 lbs. He weighed in successfully and that is your new main event.

    - So in summary: UFC 223 was scheduled to be Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov. Ferguson injures his knee tripping on a cable at a TV studio hyping his fight. He is replaced by Max Holloway. Michael Chiesa is scheduled to face Anthony Pettis on the undercard. Conor McGregor throws a dolly through a bus window injuring Chiesa forcing him out of his fight with Pettis. Holloway misses weight. Pettis, now without an opponent gets a UFC Lightweight title shot. If Pettis somehow wins, WOW because he did nowhere near deserve of a title shot anytime soon.

    - 3:00 PM ET BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! Pettis is OUT. He didn't make weight. This entire scenario has been a huge clusterf*ck of clusterf*cks!!! Right now the front runner is Al Iaquinta although he weighed in this morning at 155.2 meaning he would have to drop the .2 lbs. or it would become a 3 round non-title fight. I cannot remember more of a f*cking storm of bad luck that UFC has ever had other than this. Insanity at its best.

    - UFC 223 is a f*cking disaster. Just cancel the f*cking PPV. LOL.

    - Dana White revealed to Fox Sports on Wednesday that Brock Lesnar WILL be returning to UFC following Wrestlemania. Of course, Lesnar has a lot of hoops to jump through as he will need to clear USADA testing unless he is already back in the testing pool. He needs six months of clean tests before he can be licensed. For all those upset about Lesnar’s return, Brock equals money. With Brock on a show, everyone wins; especially Brock and UFC. He makes more for one UFC fight then he does for a year of WWE work. It really is a no brainer.

    - UFC has announced that they are proceeding with an interim UFC Welterweight title as Rafael dos Anjos vs. Colby Covington will headline the UFC 224 show in Brazil. This means that Tyrone Woodley isn’t due back anytime soon and will likely unify the titles in the fall against the winner.

    - Despite winning his arbitration case against USADA and having his suspension revoked, Josh Barnett is still NOT eligible to fight for at least 6 months due to pulling himself out of USADA testing when he filed his case. Thus he has NOT been tested the entire time this case was pending and thus needs 6 months of clean tests before being allowed to fight again.

    - Matt Brown, who was scheduled to face off with Carlos Condit on UFC on Fox 29 later this month was forced to withdraw due to a torn ACL suffered in training. Brown will miss several months of action following surgery. As for Condit, he will now face Alex Oliveira.

UFC 223 is TOMORROW NIGHT from Brooklyn New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Anthony Pettis
  • UFC WOMEN’S STRAWWEIGHT TITLE: Rose Namajunas © vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
  • Renato Moicano vs. Calvin Kattar
  • Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Kyle Bochniak

    - THIS LINK is for LIFE. Thank you soldiers. WELCOME HOME BLOG.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: I still don’t understand this story and how he only got two years in prison. The guy killed people due to being a spoiled little rich assh*le and then FLED to Mexico before he could face trial where he was eventually caught. How the f*ck did he still get leniency? All because his defense team claimed he was too rich to know right from wrong? WTF?

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 1: I hope this piece of sh*t rots in prison. What a f*cking scumbag. I remember this story when it came out and I said the same thing then. How people like this even have children is sad.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: I’ve been saying this for a while now, you cannot blame the guns. She was a sick person and didn’t use an AR-15.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: I haven’t listened to Howard Stern in a few years and don’t really follow him anymore although I used to religiously. Anyway, this is pretty sad and disturbing to read. F*ck him.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 4: This f*cking guy right here. SMH. You are a millionaire a hundred times over. Get your sh*t together.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 5: And to totally ruin your Friday afternoon, here is a real sh*tty story.

    - For the first time in the studio’s history, Marvel Studios has placed a “review embargo” on one of their films as they are NOT allowing any reviewers to post reviews for Infinity War until April 27th which is the day that Infinity War opens in theaters. They are not even going to screen the film in advance of their release with the first ever complete showing taking place at the official premiere on April 23rd in Los Angeles. For anyone seeing an “advance screening” of the film before then, you are NOT getting a full screening. You are only going to see a bit of the film followed by some highlights of the film. Like a sizzle reel. The reason for this is that Marvel does not want any spoilers leaking in order to keep it a secret for fans. A major clue about this is that The Russo Brothers revealed that the title for Avengers 4 will “scare” fans. This leads me to believe that the title of Avengers 4 will be “Avengers: The Death of Captain America” which was a MAJOR Marvel comic book milestone that spread across 18 issues. This saddens me.

    - For you “Arrow” fans out there, last week’s episode marked the end for actress Willa Holland a.k.a. Thea Queen. Her departure from Star City was actually her exit from the show. She has decided to move on from the Arrow-verse and explore other acting opportunities.

    - Speaking of the “Arrow-verse”, CW has renewed ALL of the shows in the universe earlier this week.

    - Congrats to actress Jes Macallan on “Legends of Tomorrow” as she has been upped to series regular for next season as Time Bureau Captain Ava Sharpe. She has been a good addition to the show. I like the freshness of the show by adding new members to the team each season.

    - Both Jax and Jonah Hex make their returns to Legends for the season finale next week.

    - Has a season of a show ever started out so hot and then just fizzled out? Let me answer that for you. YES. The answer is The Walking Dead; multiple times including this season. The last two episodes have been a total sh*t show and it is boring me to death. The problem is, so long as the ratings train keeps chugging along, the show is safe from ending as long as the showrunners wants it to continue on.

    - Marvel’s “Black Panther” has passed $650 million domestically over the weekend meaning it will likely end up the 3rd highest grossing U.S. film of ALL TIME when it is all said and done surpassing “Titanic” in the United States. It is expected to bump Disney’s “Frozen” out of the number 10 spot worldwide this week with $1.27 BILLION.

    - In an effort to just re-watch some Marvel stuff leading to “Infinity War”, I have rewatched Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Solider, Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 1, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-man: Homecoming, Dr. Strange and Thor: Ragnarok over the past several weeks. I also, after Winter Solider, re-watched episode 17 & 18 of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” season 1 which is the fall of Shield and the rise of Hydra. Has a show ever benefitted more from two episodes than Shield has? The show completely turned around starting with “Turn, Turn, Turn” which was episode 17 and the Grant Ward heel turn and from there, the writing just took off and made the show must watch television. Go back and check it out if you are a fan. Just that episode. GREAT stuff.

    - Amazon announced that they are launching a “Lord of the Ring” TV series and it has become the most expensive show in television history as it has a budget of ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Holy F*ck!!!
