T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #443

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I am hoping that you readers have taken the time to lend a hand and donated to the JAIDAN STRONG cause for me. I’d really appreciate it if you did; as little as $5 can go a long way. If not, it isn’t a big deal but please at least SHARE THE LINK. I get that finances can be tough for some but taking the time to share a link via your social media doesn’t cost a dime. I’d appreciate it greatly as one of your friends or family members may be able to help out. Thanks.

BONUS MATT NOTE: HAPPY INFINITY WAR DAY!!! I have my IMAX tickets for tomorrow at 12:40 PM ET. Hopefully you are all seeing it this weekend because I guarantee you I am going to be gushing over it my next column. Speaking of my next column, it WILL NOT be next week as I will be tanning on the island of Jamaica. My trusty colleague Mr. James Bullock will be sitting in for me so treat him well because he is the future of this site once James and I are rich and decide to stop writing and just start collecting paychecks.

Also….apologies in advance but this column will be condensed due to me not being 100% caught up on everything since I was in Las Vegas last weekend and it was not only a madhouse because it is Sin City but their hockey team is in the midst of making history so everywhere was magnetic when they won their first round series. Didn’t get much sleep and didn’t keep up with the news and notes of wrestling, MMA or the world.

And Finally, Happy Birthday shoutout to WWI Contributor Chucky Val.

MATT'S NOTE: James Guttman is the Dad of Hi Blog! I'm Dad.…and he’s here!

Hey guys. True news. James Guttman here. The Greatest Royal Rumble just ended and while Matt will be watching it tonight, I was able to catch it live. Here are the full results and my thoughts from the show.

1. John Cena defeated Triple H. After the match, Cena spoke to the crowd and referenced his personal life drama. Treated as an attraction and presented as an attraction. Nothing too special.

2. Cedric Alexander retained the WWE Cruiserweight Championship over Kalisto. Basic cruiserweight action. Whenever I see 205 guys, I can’t help but think that the division was meant to be about Neville until he walked out and then Enzo until he was fired and then Rich Swann until he got fired too. So these two guys are pretty much Plan F at this point.

3. Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt won the vacant WWE RAW Tag Team Championships over The Bar. Felt predictable in some ways. If you’re into the Broken Woken thing, you’ll be into it. That can pretty much be said for any Hardy stories or matches. Now with Bray mirroring it, it’s the same. Some love it. Some don’t. Either way.

4. Jeff Hardy retained the WWE US Championship over Jinder Mahal. In a prematch interview, they mentioned how Mahal has lost both his matches since coming to RAW. This would make three. I could see this story leading to Jinder as the guy that Curt Hawkins eventually beats. Hopefully I didn’t just give them any ideas. Sorry, Majaraja.

5. The Bludgeon Brothers retained the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships over The Usos because of course they did. Side note, whenever they introduce the Bludgeon Brothers, I think “The Luncheon Brothers.” Then I laugh. It’s weird.

Some of the WWE prospects from Saudi Arabia are introduced. The Daivari Brothers confront them and get knocked around. You’ve seen this segment before many times.

6. Seth Rollins retained the WWE Intercontinental Championship over Samoa Joe, Miz, and Finn Balor. Solid ladder match with a pretty interesting finish. Balor and Rollins were both on opposite sides of the ladder and trying to unhook the title. It looked like it could go either way but Seth fell to the ground holding it. So it looks like the final verdict is that Raw keeps the IC belt and Smackdown keeps the US title.

7. Shinsuke Nakumara and AJ Styles fought to a double countout in their WWE Championship match. Fans waiting for that classic, epic, and match-of-the-year Style-Nakurmara rematch are still waiting. The story seemed to be that AJ finally reached his breaking point.

8. The Undertaker defeated Rusev in a Casket Match. Taker’s hat was too tight and when he took it off, he had a red mark across his forehead. It was funny. As was the case with a lot of the non-Rumble card, the match was what you would expect. Undertaker looked good although he did seem to nearly slip when he did the Old School.

9. Brock Lesnar retained the WWE Universal Championship over Roman Reigns in a steel cage. Much more even than some of Brock’s past encounters with Roman and others. Chairs, Heyman, and some big power moves contributed to a good match with an awful ending. Roman speared Lesnar through the cage wall and they both tumbled out. Brock fell first, but was still on the cage piece. Reigns rolled off and then Lesnar did. The rules state that the person who’s feet touch the floor first would win. Under that thinking, Roman should have won because his feet touched first. The commentators didn’t catch it at first and said that Brock’s feet touched. When the replay showed that wasn’t true, they started trying to explain that he hit the floor first. Then, with the third explanation in two minutes, they finally admitted that there was “some controversy” over the end. Not a great ending. At this rate, maybe Roman will be the one who loses to Hawkins.

The Greatest Royal Rumble

Braun Strowman won the Greatest Royal Rumble

Entry Order: Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Sin Cara, Curtis Axel, Mark Henry, Mike Kanellis, Hiroki Sumi, Viktor, Kofi Kingston, Tony Nese, Dash Wilder, Hornswoggle, Primo Colon, Xavier Woods, Bo Dallas, Kurt Angle, Scott Dawson, Goldust, Konnor, Elias, Luke Gallows, Rhyno, Drew Gulak, Tucker Knight, Bobby Roode, Fandango, Chad Gable, Rey Mysterio, Mojo Rawley, Tyler Breeze, Big E., Karl Anderson, Apollo Crews, Roderick Strong, Randy Orton, Heath Slater, Babatunde, Baron Corbin, Titus O’Neill, Dan Matha, Braun Strowman, Tye Dillinger, Curt Hawkins, Bobby Lashley, The Great Khali, Kevin Owens, Shane McMahon, Shelton Benjamin, Chris Jericho

Greatest Royal Rumble Notes:

Daniel Bryan lasted one hour and sixteen minutes, a new record. He was eliminated third from the end and the crowd booed. Ah, the good old days are here again.

Mike Kanellis “may have set a new Rumble record” for shortest time in the ring. The problem is that the first time you knock a guy out immediately, you can’t really break that record. It’s a matter of how quickly you can do it and split-second clotheslines over the top rope seem like they would time out nearly identical each time.

The crowd wasn’t as hot as I would have expected, but when they did react, they reacted big. One of the biggest reactions, at least on TV, at one point? Hornswoggle. How they haven’t put him on 205 Live by now is beyond me. He could destroy the whole Cruiserweight Division with one cheeky piece of booking. That’s power.

Kofi’s Rumble spot was that he rode piggy back on Xavier Woods across the apron. Byron Saxton cut off Michael Cole to exclaim, “Do you see what’s going on here!?” Cole dryly replied, “I know, Byron. I was trying to explain it.”

Daniel Bryan went for a sunset flip pin on Goldust. The commentators laughed at him.

Michael Cole is in love with Elias now. It was strange. It was just like he was with Miz years ago. Even Saxton questioned it. I feel like I never fully understand what character Michael Cole is supposed to be.

Big E did a spot with pancakes so everyone had to roll around on a mat covered in pancake chunks all match.

This happened:

Big spot of the match was Strowman grabbing Shane McMahon by the throat from the top rope and throwing him through the announce table. It was almost as cool as Titus O’Neill Shockmastering his career in one foul swoop.

Overall, this was a historic show, but not as newsworthy as a WrestleMania or something similar. It was a showcase of what WWE is to an audience that they were really putting their best foot forward for. It wasn’t my favorite wrestling event of all time, but it was definitely a fun way to spend a Friday afternoon in the Eastern Time Zone.

Speaking of which, Matt is back on EST and he has the rest of the stories from the week that was. Take it away, Mat Dawgs...

- A hell of a tribute to Bruno Sammartino this week on WWE Television. I haven’t had the chance to watch the Network documentary on him but from what I hear, it is great stuff. Bruno’s cause of death has been revealed as multiple organ failure due to heart issues.

- I have seen a ton of negative feedback on WWE performing tonight in Saudi Arabia due to the Women’s Revolution/Evolution. Look, WWE is rumored to be getting approximately $25 MILLION a year from Saudi Arabia for special events for the next 10 years. That is an additional $250 million in revenue for the next decade. That is INCREDIBLE. They couldn’t pass up this opportunity. Eventually that door will open and WWE will make history by allowing their women to perform there. For now, they’d be fools to not take this money.

- By the way, the women on the roster are being paid as if they were on the show. So WWE is doing right by them.

- There is NO ONE on the WWE roster that is better at cutting a promo or selling an angle than Paul Heyman. I dare you to find me someone better. You can’t. You know why you can’t? Because that person does NOT exist. Here is a perfectly good example. If you listen carefully to Paul Heyman promos, he makes it a point to emphasize when something is a “spoiler” because that’s what he does. He doesn’t make predictions, he tells spoilers. He did so before Brock fought Taker at Mania and ended the streak. He did so when Brock beat Goldberg last year at Mania to win back the title. He did so before Mania this year when Brock beat Roman. What is GOLD about him is that despite hyping the fact that he is in the “spoiler” business, if you go back to his promo on RAW, he was careful not to mention Brock beating Roman today at all. He didn’t say Brock was walking out with the title. He didn’t say Brock would get his hand raised. He didn’t say Brock was winning. He only said Brock would beat up Roman. Boom.

- Bobby Roode lost CLEAN to Elias on RAW. No cheating. No shenanigans. Nothing. Clean as a whistle. WOW.

- I love Owens and Zayn as a duo and as heels and especially as workers but the Sami and Kevin Show sucked balls. It was terrible and Angle brought it down even further. WWE needs to pick and choose who they script and who they don’t.

- Damn. Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas are going to die painful career deaths without Miz. I feel bad.

- I am sticking to my story that pairing Drew McIntyre with Dolph is only going to bring Drew down and NOT elevate Dolph. It sucks because Drew is uber talented and Dolph does in fact deserve a real run but he has been buried so badly that I do not think he will ever recover; even when they throw him a bone every now and then.

- “Slip on a banana peel” wins are NOT going to get Chad Gable over. Jinder Mahal literally dominated 93% of the match on Monday. Then in a flash, Gable wins. That isn’t the way to get someone over.

- Samoa Joe is a GREAT promo.

- How come WWE never goes into detail about Bobby Lashley’s connection to President of the United States Donald Trump?

- Braun Strowman legit got “Get These Hands” over. I wish WWE would just open their eyes and let him run on top. I get that Roman has “IT” but if they aren’t going to turn him, then let Braun run. He has something.

- No Way Jose. Ugh.

- Alexa Bliss was AMAZING on Monday. Her PSA promo on “bullying” was solid gold. By the way, when she returns to action, she will look “different” as she had some enhancement work done. I do not think she “upgraded “ as she already was enhanced before she joined WWE but rather more of some “maintenance” work done to them.

- Basic booking, it still works. The sign is as bright as day that Natalya is going to turn on Ronda. Thing is, the crowd is NOT sh*tting all over it. They are going with the flow and are along for the ride. It is great because it is booking 101 and it works.

- Oh, by the way, Ronda is the biggest star in the company right now. The pop she got blew away anything on the show and that was after sitting through 3 hours of the show. She still got a major star ovation.

- Zack Ryder had a brief scare on Monday as he wrestled a dark match prior to Raw against Mike Kanellis but tweaked his knee. WWE chose to NOT send him to Saudi Arabia and instead to Orlando to get an MRI done. Thankfully it was an MCL/ACL/Calf Muscle strain and there are absolutely no tears in the knee. He just needs to rest up before he can wrestle again. No surgery required.

- Miz is fantastic and despite what some people say about his in-ring work, he makes Smackdown a better show.

- Tough road for Big Cass. He isn’t a great promo and he isn’t a great worker. He is going to fall under the “too much/too fast” road that Test, Drew McIntyre and Chris Masters fell under. Guys that have a ton of potential but instead are going to get shoved down our throats before WWE gets tired of it and turns them into jobbers on for them to develop later on into solid performers but when they do, it is too late. Drew is hopefully the exception to that rule. Test became an excellent worker but never got pushed as one and Masters left the company and became very good but was never brought back.

- While I hate the spelling of the name, I LOVE THE IICONICS!!! Fantastic gimmick.

- So Asuka doesn’t lose for 3 years and now she is on a losing streak? Terrible.

- Where are they going with this Naomi/Usos/Bludgeon Brothers storyline?

- Why are people giving Carmella sh*t over being champion? She’s been getting slammed on social media over not being worthy. I think she is awesome in her role.

- So is this a new rule that WWE implemented or what? Last week when Shelton Benjamin was supposed to face Randy Orton on Smackdown, as Orton was coming out, Jeff Hardy’s music played and he came out, walked passed Orton and took the match instead. This week as Benjamin was waiting for Hardy, Orton came out and did the same to Jeff. So essentially at Mania next year when the WWE Universal title is on the line and if the champion came out first, all someone has to do is walk past him and make it to the ring first and BOOM, new challenger? Does that apply to the Royal Rumble too? If someone isn’t in the Rumble match, they can just walk past #30 and take the 30 spot?

- I get the cereal since New Day capitalized it and turned it into legit merchandise that sells, but what is the point of the pancakes? Are they planning on selling pancakes? Really?

- For those wondering, the explanation for Sheamus and Cesaro moving back to RAW if they win the titles tonight from Hardy and Wyatt is that the RAW tag titles are designated to that show. Same as the Smackdown tag titles and both women’s titles. The I.C. and U.S. titles are not brand specific.

- Bryan HAS TO beat Cass at Backlash right? We aren’t back to the big man beats on Bryan all the time thing are we?

- Shinsuke Nakamura changing his entrance music to have lyrics because he doesn’t want fans singing along to his song is GOLD. Heel Nakamura has been amazing so far. Love it. His cowardice of not wanting to get in the ring with Styles is so old school and so effective. Plus to post match angle with him laying out Karl Anderson; such good stuff.

- While doing publicity for the Saudi Arabia show, Roman Reigns was asked about who’d he like to face at Wrestlemania next year and he noted his top 3 choices are Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose.

- John Cena and Nikki Bella did in fact film a break-up angle on the upcoming season of Total Bellas for E! but then got back together on the show a few days later. They are still filming the upcoming season so they may have to film another one or just not show the resolution to their already filmed break up. If they do have to film a new breakup, it will be interesting because despite the public face they are putting on as if this was a mutual decision, there is bad blood between the two.

- Edge was a special guest trainer for the first time in his career at the WWE Performance Center this week. He noted that he was extremely pleased with the talent he got to see and that the future is in good hands.

- Triple H recently revealed at a partner summit in New Orleans that WWE has plans to open up NXT branches all around the world to create a global territory system.

- NXT’s Kassius Ohno will be working for Progress Wrestling in London for their annual “Super Strong Style 16 Tournament”. Also involved in the tournament are current WWE U.K. Champion Pete Dunne, Zack Sabre Jr. Keith Lee (who many believe is WWE bound), Doug Williams, Angelico, Mark Andrews. Tyler Bate, Joey Janela and more. Ohno was the star of the 2016 tournament and that is what secured him being rehired by WWE.

- Also shout out to Ohno for getting away with wearing a “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney shirt on NXT TV this week.

- Kudos to NXT Champion Aleister Black as he revealed on his social media platforms that he suffers from depression and anxiety but is working to beat it.

- Former WWE star and former Impact commentator Elijah Burke was backstage at Smackdown this week.

- Former WWE Diva Rosa Mendes is still training for a return to the ring following the birth of her baby two years ago. She has also been doing a bunch of photo shoots for some bikini company which I can say is quite impressive. Her first match takes place on May 19th for Maryland Championship Wrestling.

- Best wishes once again to former WWE Superstar Vader as he was sent back to the hospital following his heart surgery due to suffering from pneumonia.

- Congrats to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian as she gave birth to their second child last week, Tiana Gia Johnson. It is their 2nd but Dwayne’s 3rd as he has a daughter named Simone with his ex-wife and current business partner Dani Garcia.

- The sequel to Jumanji is set to be released in December of 2019.

  • Ring of Honor / New Japan / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - R.I.P. to arguably the MOST INFLUENTAL WOMAN in the history of professional wrestling, Mokoto Baba as she passed away at age 78 a few weeks ago. She was the wife of Shohei “Giant” Baba and was responsible for much of the booking and success of All Japan Pro Wrestling in the late 80’s and early 90’s that saw the most incredible in-ring work in wrestling history. She was known to many in wrestling as “The Dragon Lady” because she was the one who dealt the negative news to anyone on the roster whether it was regarding pay, booking decisions or firings. This kept Giant Baba in the good graces of the roster. It was also due to this that because a mass exodus when she had a falling out with Mitsuharu Misawa that saw much of the roster departs the company with Misawa when he left the promotion and caused All Japan to suffer as a company. All Japan ended up the WCW of Japan as they were neck and neck for many years with New Japan Pro Wrestling but the departure of Misawa and the entire main event roster caused them to flounder while New Japan is now the WWE of Japan.

    - Jay Lethal and Britt Baker are #AllIn!!!! So are Joey Janela, Penelope Ford and Chelsea Green.

    - Cody revealed that the cheapest tickets for “All In” will be $25 but that ticket prices overall will be “below market” value. The official ticket release date will be announced at the press conference they are holding at Pro Wrestling Tees Chicago store on May 13th. Some match announcements will be made as well. I fully expect one fo the main events to be Kenny Omega vs. Kota Ibushi.

    - Tickets for New Japan’s show at the Cow Palace on July 7th go on sale May 1st. It will likely also air live on AXS.

    - New Japan has announced the following names for the annual “Super Juniors” Tournament.

  • Will Ospreay
  • Kushida
  • Hiromu Takahashi
  • Marty Scurll
  • Flip Gordon
  • Dragon Lee
  • Bushi
  • Sho
  • Yoh
  • Ryusake Taguchi
  • Tiger Mask
  • Desperado
  • Yoshinobu Kanemaru
  • with 3 more names to be added.

    - The Bone Soldier name is being used on the character returning however I tiwll not be the original “Bone Soldier” returning. Mitsuhide Hirasawa was fired from New Japan due to gambling a year ago. No word on who will play the character but the consensus is that it will be Taiji Ishimori but that has not been confirmed.

    - EVOLVE recorded a short film following MATT RIDDLE around all weekend during Wrestlemania and all of his matches/appearances that weekend.

    - So apparently PWG may have not had their last show at Legion Hall in Reseda after all. They sale of the building has NOT been finalized therefore following the July 13th show in Los Angeles, they may be able to come back to Reseda for a show.

    - The Young Bucks are awesome by the way. In their going away speech at PWG since it was likely their last night wrestling at Legion Hall, they noted that they were “young and broke” ten years ago when they made their PWG debuts and now they are “not so young and rich”.

    - Keith Lee lost the PWG title on the same show to WALTER. Lee has been losing all of his titles stemming back to Wrestlemania weekend, you can guess why he is “doing business” everywhere. He is WWE bound even though he cannot confirm it. That is good news for him as he can go.

    - Vince Russo is already gone from Arolucha.

    - Konnan, despite being booker for Arolucha is back as booker at AAA. Vampiro is STILL with the company but no longer working as a booker/writer. He is just helping out backstage as a producer.

    - AAA, with Konnan at the helm, has already brought back Teddy Hart, Juventud Guerrera and Kevin Cross who all left the promotion some time ago. Konnan being back is also part of the reason that Rey Mysterio agreed to return.

    - Rich Swann has reached out to Dragon Gate and plans on working in Japan soon.

    - Remember that story about Harry Smith a.k.a. Davey Boy Smith Jr. attacking Jake “The Snake” Roberts? Well Jake has pressed charged against Smith for battery.

    - Congrats to MLW as they have hired Tony Schiavone to be the full time play by play announcer in a multi-year contract.

    - ITV is back in the U.K. and plan on FINALLY taping their “World of Sport” wrestling shows from May 10th through May 12th. This announcement will absolutely put WWE’s U.K. plans back into the swing of things.

    - Sigh. After I gave him the benefit of the doubt for getting injured, we are back to Low-Ki BEING LOW-KI. SMH. His own worst enemy, I tell you.

    - Don Callis is now the full time color commentator for Impact. I said this was going to happen MONTHS ago. He is now doing commentary with Josh Matthews. Matthews is no longer a heel. He just appeared on the PPV and is a babyface. Amazing.

    - Congrats to Tessa Blanchard for debuting at Impact. Although I wish she was on WWE television, she definitely deserves to be on some sort of television full time because she has it.

    - Pentagon defeated Austin Aries to capture the Impact title. This was interesting since he is under contract to Lucha Underground. Aries recaptured the title at the TV tapings however so should still be champion.

    - Impact did in fact hype up the TV debut of the latest season of Lucha Underground on El Rey. So a deal has to have been struck between the two promotions.

    - Impact also did promotion for Tommy Dreamer’s “House of Hardcore” show airing on Twitch.

    - I don’t pay close enough attention to Impact to realize if this is a pattern or not but does Impact switch most of their titles after every PPV show? I feel like they kind of do. Either at the PPV itself or at the TV tapings following a PPV it feels like every champion drops their title. Scott Steiner and Eli Drake captured the tag team titles from Santana and Ortiz of LAX. The gimmick was that they are having a hard time without Konnan in their corner to lead them. It was interesting however because despite recovering form hip replacement surgery, Konnan was backstage and did NOT appear on camera.

    - Scott Steiner probably should call it a career. He can barely move out there. Anyway, Steiner and Drake dropped the tag titles at the TV tapings to Andrew Everett and DJZ.

    - Steiner and Petey Williams reunited briefly. That is awesome because they were such a great duo during Steiner’s last major run here.

    - Su Yang is the new Knockouts champion and she won the titles at the TV tapings defeating Allie.

    - The next Impact PPV will be on July 22nd in Toronto. It will be the annual Slammiversary PPV show.

    - Former Impact Knockout Winter, who wrestled in WWE as Katie Leigh alongside Paul Burchill, has returned to Impact using the name Katarina Leigh.

    - Braxton Sutter has finished up with Impact at the latest TV tapings and is gone from the promotion.

    - FINALLY!!! They added Eddie Kingston to LAX at the tapings. Now if they could just figure out how to utilize Homicide and you can have two teams in Santana & Ortiz as well as The Strong Style Thugs of Homicide & Kingston and you have MAGIC!!!

    MMA News and Notes:

    - In AMAZING NEWS, Nick Newell of World Series of Fighting is getting an opportunity to fight for a UFC contract on Dana White’s “Contender Series”. If you don’t know who Newell is, he is a ONE ARMED FIGHTER as in he only has a right hand and is missing most of his left arm yet is super impressive and only has one career loss to UFC fighter Justin Gaethje.

    - Speaking of Gaethje, his loss to Dustin Poirier was an incredible fight last weekend. The division is probably the most stacked in UFC right now with Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Eddie Alvarez, Nate Diaz if he returns and Kevin Lee who won this past weekend against Edson Barboza. There are a ton of options for the title.

    - Glad to see that Frankie Edgar managed to win this weekend despite it only being a few weeks before Brian Ortega ran over him like a truck. He wasn’t the Frankie Edgar of the past but it was extremely tough to gauge if it was because of the Ortega fight or because of the emotional week he had as both his grandfather and his father passed away within days of each other and he was at his father’s funeral the day before the weigh in.

    - Congrats to Matt Serra for being one of the inductees to the UFC Hall of Fame. He is being voted into the “Pioneer” wing for fighters whose career began before November 17th, 2000.

    - I said when the story broke several months ago that it wasn’t the best career move for Leslie Smith to spearhead a union for MMA fighters while under UFC contract. Well UFC bought out her contract and she is now gone from the company. She was scheduled to fight last weekend in Atlantic City but her opponent did not make weight. UFC paid her for the fight despite the fight being cancelled and also gave her the win bonus which they NEVER do when a fight is cancelled due to someone not making weight. So essentially instead of her usual $31,000 fight deal, she made an additional $31,000 to be released from her contract since she had one fight left on her deal.

    - UFC has offered former NFL star Greg Hardy an opportunity to fight in UFC. Hardy has been training for a while now and has a career amateur MMA record of 3 - 0. He will debut on June 12th on Dana White’s “Contender Series” against Brandon Sayles.

    - Despite signing with WWE, UFC is still confident that Brock Lesnar will fight for them at some point in 2018 with his return fight being for the UFC Heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic or Daniel Cormier.

    - Jon Dodson is currently a free agent as his UFC contract has expired and UFC is allowing him the opportunity to shop his talents around. They have not closed the door on him returning to UFC but are just letting him take meetings.

    - Fedor Emelianenko vs. Frank Mir in the latest fight of the Heavyweight Grand Prix tomorrow in Chicago for Bellator MMA.

    - Bellator also has a show on May 12th which will continue the heavyweight tournament grand prix with Ryan Bader vs. Mohammed “King Mo” Lawal as well as Jon Fitch vs. Paul Daley and Aaron Pico back in action.

    - Roy Nelson vs. Mirko “Cro Cop” Fillipovic will be headlining Bellator MMA 200 on May 25th instead of the Middleweight Title Fight of Rafael Carvahlo vs. Gegard Mousasi.

    - USADA has ruled that Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Marcos Rogeiro and Junior Dos Santos could have their suspensions reduced to 6 months or effectively “time served” from their USADA violation suspensions due to a pharmacy in Brazil that provided all three of them with tainted supplements.

UFC 224 is on Saturday, May 12th, 2018 from Rio de Janeiro Brazil and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC WOMEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE: Amanda Nunes © vs. Raquel Pennington
  • Kelvin Gastelum vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza
  • Vitor Belfort vs. Lyoto Machida
  • Glover Teixeira vs. Volkhan Oezdemir
  • UFC 225 is on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 from Chicago Illinois and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE: Robert Whitaker © vs. Yoel RomeroUFC INTERIM WELTERWEIGHT TITLE: Rafael dos Anjos vs. Colby Covington
  • C.M. Punk vs. Mike Jackson
  • Alistair Overeem vs. Curtis Blaydes
  • Holly Holm vs. Megan Anderson
  • Claudia Gadelha vs. Carla Esparza
  • Joseph Benavidez vs. Sergio Pettis
  • UFC 226 is on Saturday, July 7th, 2018 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE: Max Holloway © vs. Brian Ortega

    - THIS LINK is for LIFE. Thank you soldiers. WELCOME HOME BLOG.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: Bill Cosby is going to die in prison. WOW. America’s Favorite Dad. Insane.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 1: Mass murdering serial killer CAUGHT decades later. WOW>

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: So this was a total 180 and not for nothing but is a MAJOR accomplishment if it holds. Unexpected.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: Well I’ll be damned, Cory Feldman wasn’t lying apparently.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 4: This was a pretty big deal last weekend while I was in Vegas and it is a sad/tragic story. I didn’t realize how big a magnitude Avicii had on music.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 5: Hannibal Buress is a decent comedian and did a great thing but this can’t help his career can it? He’s forever going to be known as the guy who brought down Bill Cosby. Also…wouldn’t this be like the Weinstein case? I cannot imagine Buress being the only one who “heard things” about Cosby.

    - For all of you seeing the film today or this weekend, as an FYI…there is only ONE post credits scene.

    - Actress Lauren Cohen (Maggie on The Walking Dead) confirmed she will be back for season 9 of the show. Her return was up in the air due to an expiring contract and taking on a new show next season.

    - Director S.J. Clarkson, best known for directing Jessica Jones will be the director for the next Star Trek film.

    - The synopsis for John Wick 3 has been released and I am stoked for May 17th, 2019. “John Wick is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.”
