T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #402

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

- Holy sh*t, was that Lonzo Ball segment on RAW the biggest train wreck you have ever seen? WOW. Complete and utterly terrible. I can say, without speaking with anyone in WWE that they absolutely sent Dean Ambrose out early to put that segment out of its misery.

- Miz: “So you’re going to unleash all the Balls on me?” No way did he not mean that as a double entendre. LOL.

- I am filled with glee that they did NOT separate Miz and Maryse and instead are making her part of the package with his “Miztourage” of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. She compliments Miz so well and would be a great part of that group. I don’t like that they are still teasing dissension between them though.

- WWE was certainly not pleased with LaMelo Ball yelling “Beat that n*gga” on LIVE TV with both Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn lost their sh*t when it happened and WWE has since released a statement apologizing. The Balls were supposed to stay at ringside during the six man tag team match with father LaVar scheduled to interfere but instead were sent to the back during the commercial break.

- We had the reuniting of Enzo Amore and Big Cass only for Cass to turn on him again. I felt that was also solid. I just feel bad for Enzo since he is going to flounder in a comedy/jobber role once he is apart from his program with Cass.

- RAW had some definite solid moments overall though with the continued monster push of Samoa Joe as he choked out Brock Lesnar. Amazing segment.

- Did anyone else understand what the f*ck was Bray Wyatt talking about? It is the same sh*t every week. Sure it sounds like he is saying something important but that is all because of his delivery. At the end of it, do you remember anything about his promos? They are all meaningless and lacking context. Plus, he NEVER wins his feuds.

- “Titus Worldwide”. The name was changed from the Titus Brand all due to the Ball family being on RAW with their “Big Baller Brand”.

- Why again is Akira Tozawa a part of this?

- Was Michael Cole noting that Roman Reigns escaped the ambulance and was looking for Braun Strowman a way to protect Roman? That is the only thing I can think of since he never came back to the building.

- After both being out of the Women’s title picture for a while, Sasha Banks is now number one contender after she submitted Nia Jax who was also missing with the Bank Statement in a gauntlet match. Jax defeated the rest of the women on the Raw roster before losing to Banks.

- Whoever thought about having Nia Jax wrestle for 30 straight minutes needs to be fired. Just saying.

- Speaking of, why is a gauntlet match fair? The last person in will ALWAYS have a major advantage.

- Bayley is almost 100% successfully ruined. She had the potential to be something BIG for the WWE and someone who can reach the female and kids audience. But when she came out on Monday, she came out to indifference. The crowd didn’t care nor did they pop. It was disappointing. It also didn’t help that she was practically squashed.

- WWE does realize that Braun Strowman is being cheered like a babyface right? It is insanity to me if they do not see what they have with him. His destruction of Roman Reigns continued on Raw on Monday and it BETTER continue at the PPV because honestly, RAW was booked to make it seem like Roman is winning. The only way I am cool with that is if they have scrapped plans for Brock vs. Roman at Mania next year or if Roman is winning the title at Summerslam. Otherwise we need to get Brock vs. Braun at SS.

- I am NOT into the “Drifter”. He is not my cup of tea. Maybe I don’t “get it”?

- Finn Balor is feeling wasted. Glad he got that Hardy rub though.

- Bravo to WWE for locking in Josh Duhamel for a WWE film role. He was hot stuff for a minute before he fell off.

- So Goldust and R-Truth still have yet to have their match. SMH.

- As noted, I was ok with the Women’s MITB match taking place again on Smackdown so long as Carmella won it and she did. Plus, the match was better than the 1st one so that is a plus. Good booking.

- Despite selling them as toys to kids in stores, for some reason WWE has informed their roster on Smackdown to NOT use the word briefcase when talking about MITB. They have to use the word “contract”. Now go back and listen to Daniel Bryan and Carmella’s segment to open Smackdown and now that you know that they were banned from saying “briefcase”, listen to how awkward their promo sounds. LOL.

- P.S. – Daniel Bryan is a proud supporter of the “Women’s EVOLUTION”. HAHA.

- The Fashion Police/Ascension skit was GOLD.

- Either Ryder or Mojo need to turn heel. This team isn’t going to work.

- By the way, can anyone tell me why the bulk of that match between the Hype Bros and the Usos too place entirely during the commercial break?

- Punjabi Prison Match!!!! YES!!!! I am stoked for this. I am being serious too. This has trainwreck written all over it but being that I am on the Jinder band wagon now, it is going to be so awful it will be great!!!

- Nakamura vs. Corbin feud is NOT a good thing for Nakamura.

- I like the Kanellis’ couple. A feud with Sami Zayn isn’t a bad debut feud for Mike either.

- Definitely not a fan of Battle Royal matches determining title shots. A.J. or Cena better win.

- I guess WWE wasn’t pleased with Lana’s in-ring work at the PPV because I cannot fathom why’d they have Naomi squash her like that on Smackdown after that big push they were giving her; unless it is an angle to reunite Lana with Rusev. Otherwise she was BERRIED.

- Former WWE Divas Torrie Wilson, Christy Hemme, Candice Michelle and Sharmell were all backstage at RAW on Monday. Wilson, Hemme and Michelle all live in the Los Angeles area. Sharmell was backstage with her husband, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.

- In a messed up situation though, Lisa Marie Varon a.k.a. Victoria was at Smackdown in San Diego and she was NOT allowed backstage as she wanted to go congratulate the women on the MITB match and was told no. F*cked up huh?

- With Asuka vs. Nikki Cross being the main event of the NXT show this week, RAW, Smackdown and NXT were all main evented by Women’s matches in the same week for the first time ever.

- As of last week, the scheduled main event of Summerslam is NO LONGER expected to be Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman. Somewhere along the road Vince McMahon made a turn on his line of thinking and is currently debating moving Brock vs. Roman Reigns to Summerslam instead of Mania or continuing the Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe program going another month. He has been pleased with the traction of Lesnar/Joe and may not want it to be a “one off” as originally planned. However, he also seems to be in the mindset that Roman Reigns vs. John Cena at Wrestlemania for the title would be BIGGER than Brock vs. Roman and having Cena looking to win the title and thus break Ric Flair’s record of 16 at the biggest show of the year being a better idea.

- Shinsuke Nakamura missed a WWE Live Event last Saturday in Canada due to a VISA issue that wouldn’t allow him to cross the border. He was replaced last minute by RAW star Seth Rollins who took on Jinder Mahal in the main event. Nakamura worked the following day in Washington.

- A ton of controversy was sparked last weekend when Cody Rhodes won the ROH Title as WWE Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan tweeted him congratulations and noted that the 462 days he held the title were some of the most rewarding parts of his career. That wasn’t the controversy however as he then tweeted a P.S. note to Cody and said: "If you hold the ROH title 462 days, I may have to come after you, which would be 9/28/18. Be forewarned."

- Kurt Angle will be available as a playable character in all WWE 2K18 games that are purchased via pre-order.

- In Edge and Christian’s weekly podcast, WWE star Mike Kanellis noted that he and his wife Maria Kanellis were urged by WWE U.S. Champion Kevin Owens NOT to re-sign with Impact Wrestling and come to WWE.

- As I said last week, Roderick Strong losing his title match against Bobby Roode would be a terrible decision and I am sticking to that statement. He shouldn’t have lost. If that was always the plan then they shouldn’t have booked it; especially when Roode, the heel, was insulting Strong’s family. The match became more of Strong defending his family’s honor than it was about chasing the title. So not only is he a loser for not winning the title, but he didn’t get revenge for his family so he is a geek/jabronie too. WTF?

- Former ROH star Bobby Fish made his NXT debut at the television tapings. And he lost. Way to get a new talent over!!!

- Despite signing with WWE a few weeks back and losing her Stadom championship, it was discovered during her medicals that Io Shirai has a severe neck injury that will sideline her debut for several months. No word on what exactly the injury is or whether she will require surgery for it but she will not be debuting this summer. It is more likely that she debuts towards the end of the year.

- Shirai’s Stardom counterpart Kairi Hojo is will be debuting in the Mae Young Classic. She will now be known as Kairi Sane.

- As noted in this column several weeks ago, WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Lita will be calling the Mae Young Classic. While being taped in July, the tournament will not air until August 28th when the first 4 episodes will be streamed on the Network and then the next 4 episodes will be released on September 4th. The winner of the tournament will be crowned on September 12th during a LIVE special from Las Vegas Nevada at the Thomas and Mack Center. So far WWE has officially confirmed the following:

  • Toni Storm
  • Princesa Sugehit
  • Lacey Evans
  • Sarah Logan
  • Tessa Blanchard
  • Abbey Laith
  • Taynara Conti
  • Kavita Devi
  • Jazzy Gabert
  • Bianca BelAir
  • Vanessa Borne
  • Dakota Kai (Formerly Evie)
  • Kairi Sane
  • - Congratulations to Thea Trinidad as she has been offered and accepted a WWE contract. No start date has been given as of yet but the assumption is that she will begin in NXT.

    - NXT’s Mary Kate has had another name change. She will now be known as Sage Miller.

    - Congrats to WWE Star Apollo Crews on the birth of his first child.

    - According to PRO WRESTLNIG SHEET, Tyson Kidd was brought back to WWE beginning this week as an agent/producer. He will also be returning to Total Divas as Nattie’s husband. He has not wrestled since July 2015 when his neck was broken during a match with Samoa Joe. It is also notable that Joe has no longer done the muscle buster since being called up to the main roster.

    - Brock Lesnar is working a rare WWE Live Event on July 29th in Detroit at the Joe Louis arena. It is being billed the FINAL EVENT at the arena before it closes its doors. Amazingly enough, Lesnar worked the last WWE event there which was a live event as well and ALSO billed as the final event at that arena.

    - Chris Jericho is currently working the WWE tour of Asia this week but has NO plans to return to television. He wrestled (and lost) to NXT’s Hideo Itami in Singapore on Wednesday.

    - In tough news to swallow, former WWE star Matt Cappotelli revealed on his Facebook that his brain tumor has come back more aggressively than before and partly inoperable. Ugh. He has been fighting so hard for so long and had his brain tumor removed 10 years ago. Such a shame.

    - Allegedly WWE Superstar Paige and her fiancé, the former Alberto Del Rio broke up. I am not 100% sure if this is true as both are denying it on social media but sources close to the both of them have confirmed that they ended their relationship while on vacation in Orlando together. I am shocked by this. I thought they would last forever. That is sarcasm by the way. She was in fact with him yesterday at the Combate Americas weigh ins.

WWE GREAT BALLS OF FIRE PPV is on Sunday, July 9th, 2017 from Dallas Texas and the line-up is as follows:

  • NXT TAG TEAM TITLES: The Authors of Pain © w/Paul Ellering vs. SanITY
  • Hideo Itami vs. Kassius Ohno

    - Anthem Sports has acquired Global Force Wrestling from Jeff Jarrett. No, that is NOT a rib. That is an actual statement from an actual press release that Impact revealed earlier this week. LOL. I can’t. Jeff Jarrett has been named the Chief Creative Officer for Impact. Not only is Jarrett Chief Creative Officer but he will be getting an ownership stake in Impact. LOL. FULL CIRCLE!!!! Jeff Jarrett is once again an owner in Impact. Amazing thing the wrestling world is.

    - Apparently Impact has a HUGE surprise for the Slammiversary PPV which will NOT be a wrestler. The assumption is that it is Shaquille O’Neal since he is a huge wrestling fan however that is NOT confirmed by any sources.

    - UFC Fighter Josh Barnett revealed that he would have liked to remain with Impact and continue his feud with Bobby Lashley but apparently Impact was no longer interested in his services and decided against pursuing him further.

    - Impact star Bram was severely injured during a wrestling tour in Italy. No details on the injury however it was revealed that he required immediate surgery and is still in Italy recovering. Nick “Magnus” Aldis is the one who reported the injury and noted that he was not going to give the details of it at this time. Sounds bad though.

    - Impact Star Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio of WWE Fame) and WWE Superstar Paige have broken up according to sources. Not sure of the cause but I wonder what she is going to do about that “Alberto” tattoo she got on her rib cage? She did accompany him to the weigh ins for the latest Combate Americas show.

    - With Alberto having his father Dos Caras in his corner for Slammiversary, Impact Champion Bobby Lashley will have former Impact wrestler and Bellator star Mohammed “King Mo” Lawal in his.

    - The mayor of Orlando Florida, Buddy Dyer has announced July 5th as “Impact Day” celebrating Impact’s 15 year anniversary. 15 years. Incredible.

    - Apparently the release of Al Snow, Pat “Simon Diamond” Kenney and Shane Helms were let go because of the lack of need for so many agents/producers. It wasn’t a budget cut but more of a cut of Jarrett getting rid of the old regime and hiring his own people which include Bruce Prichard who is doubling as an agent backstage.

    - Impact announced a very interesting matchup at the PPV this Sunday as LAX will defend the tag team titles against 3 other teams from different promotions. The match is interesting because Konnan who runs the Crash promotion in Mexico manages LAX but the match will features Drago & El Hijo de Fantasma that work for AAA in Mexico. AAA has noted that they do not want any of their talents working on shows with anyone from the Crash let alone against them. The match will also feature Laredo Kid & Garza Jr. and both are contracted to the Crash promotion as well as Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Naomichi Marufuji & Taiji Ishimori. So Impact managed to get some solid talents in this cross promotional match. Marufuji is one of the top stars of NOAH so having him on the show is a big coup.

IMPACT’S SLAMMIVERSARY PPV is THIS SUNDAY from Orlando Florida and the line-up is as follows:

  • UNIFICATION OF IMPACT TITLE WITH GFW TITLE: Bobby Lashley © w/ Mohammed King Mo Lawal vs. Alberto El Patron © w/Dos Caras
  • Jeremy Borash & Joseph Park vs. Josh Matthews & “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner
  • FULL METAL MAYHEM MATCH: Eddie Edwards & Alisha Edwards vs. Davey Richards & Angelina Love
  • STRAP MATCH: Ethan Carter III vs. “Cowboy” James Storm
  • 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS X-DIVISION TITLE: Sonjay Dutt © vs. Low-Ki
  • IMPACT TAG TEAM TITLES: LAX (Ortiz & Santana) vs. Drago & El Hijo de Fantasma vs. Naomichi Marufuji & Taiji Ishimori vs. Laredo Kid & Garza Jr.
  • Moose & DeAngelo Williams vs. Chris Adonis & Eli Drake
  • Ring of Honor / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - Congrats to Cody (formerly Rhodes) as he defeated Christopher Daniels last week to capture the ROH World Heavyweight title. With the win, New Japan Pro Wrestling will have Kazuchika Okada defending the IWGP World title against the ROH Champion Cody at the Long Beach show TOMORROW NIGHT. The match is being scheduled as a “Title vs. Title” match which means that someone is going to become a dual champion as I do not see a New Japan debut in the U.S. ending with a DQ or countout and they can’t do a draw so soon after Okada vs. Omega doing one.

    - My bet is that Cody wins the IWGP title and this takes over the Bullet Club with Kenny Omega turning babyface in the process. Cody can claim that he did what Omega couldn’t. Omega can then go on to beat Okada in the G-1 Tournament. Okada can WIN the G-1 and get his title back in January. Then, if Omega stays with New Japan, can claim he beat Okada in G-1 and get his title shot. New Japan books long term so I can see this being the likely scenario. I can’t see Okada winning the ROH title since he is in the G-1 and therefore wouldn’t be able to really defend the ROH title in the U.S. for several weeks/months.

    - Marketing. Marketing. Marketing. The reason why the Bullet Club managed to get their t-shirts into Hot Topic is because Hot Topic executives were in Orlando for Wrestlemania weekend and saw nothing but Bullet Club, Young Bucks and Kenny Omega shirt all weekend. Hot Topic has a merchandise deal with WWE regarding shirts so the execs called WWE asking why they weren’t getting the Bullet Club merchandise. When they found out that the Bullet Club wasn’t part of the WWE, that only made them want it more so they reached out individually to them and secured a deal. All of that happened because the Young Bucks are the kings of selling themselves and sold all of the shirts that were seen at merch tables at the shows they work. Invest in your gimmick wrestlers. Have your own shirts made and spend your own money to do it. You will win in the end if you work hard for it.

    - I don’t watch the Bachelorette but apparently Kenny King made it pretty far on the show before being sent home this week. Rachel Lindsay, the bachelorette making the decision did NOT want to send him home but after he had an emotional facetime call with his daughter, she convinced him it was best if he left. Odds are, she would have chosen him or he would have made it to the finals.

    - With Bully Ray and The Briscoes losing the ROH Trios Titles to Dalton Castle and The Boys, I expect a Bully Ray heel run in ROH coming. That is a good thing.

    - New Japan Pro Wrestling announced their blocks for the G-1 Climax Tournament and by doing so have confirmed that Kenny Omega will face off with IWGP Champion Kazuchika Okada for a 3rd time as both of them are in the B-Block of the tournament. Being that their match up will be non-title, I expect Omega to finally pick up the victory. The winner of the tournament usually ends up challenging for the IWGP title at the Tokyo Dome show in January. That is of course unless Okada wins the tournament which is not unheard of for the defending champion to win.

    - Okada vs. Omega 3 takes place on August 12th at Sumo Hall. The finals with A-Block winner taking on B-Block winner will be on August 13th.

    - Katsuyori Shibata is still undergoing extreme therapy for his brain issues and is suffering from severe vision issues following the headbuts that hospitalized him vs. Kazushika Okada. He is said to have depth perception issues which cause him to walk into walls and people due to not being able to understand the distance away that they actually are.

    - Pro Wrestling Guerrilla announced some of the participants for the annual “Battle of Los Angeles” tournament. So far confirmed are:

  • Ray Fenix
  • Dezmond Xavier
  • Donovan Dijak
  • Flamita<./li>
  • Keith lee
  • Travis Banks
  • - With advance ticket sales doing extremely well, AAA decided NOT to move Triplemania despite their original plan of postponing a day. As of now, they plan on going head to head with Mayweather vs. McGregor.

    - Billy Corgan has apparently settled all of the trademark issues he had regarding the purchase of the NWA name and likenesses. So the sale will be final soon and he can begin building his promotion.

    - There is still no word on when Lucha Underground will begin taping the next season. Hell, as of right now, there is no word on IF they will be taping another season. What is messed up about that is that there are talents locked in deals to LU that cannot wrestle elsewhere on television until their contracts are up or until 6 months after their last match airs on television. With that being said, some of these guys could be trying to get opportunities in Impact, NXT or ROH but are locked into deals that prevent it.

    MMA News and Notes:

    - A pretty big weekend just passed for MMA with Bellator running a PPV event from Madison Square Garden in New York City and UFC running a solid show on paper from Oklahoma City.

    - Over at Bellator, Chael Sonnen defeated Wanderlei Silva by unanimous decision after dominating him for 3 rounds. Silva, who hasn’t fought in several years, did not look good at all and was unable to do anything but get taken down by Sonnen.

    - P.S. It was pretty weird having Mike Goldberg doing play by play for this show. Still shocked that UFC let him go for no apparent reason.

    - Fedor Emelianenko was knocked into oblivion by Matt Mitrione and really needs to call it a career as the mighty warrior he was is no more and he has been knocked out one too many times. The fight was exciting as short as it was. Both men knocked each other down almost immediately and both men were hurt by their respective shots. Mitrione noted following the fight that he does not remember getting knocked down or knocking Fedor down. He only remembers seeing Fedor on the floor and immediately thought that he needed to pounce on him and not let him recover.

    - Aaron Pico made his Bellator and MMA debut and it was 100% NOT the result that Bellator was hoping for. Pico was choked out in 24 seconds of the 1st round after being knocked down by a right uppercut. All of that hype and he was not ready for MMA.

    - Michael Chandler lost his lightweight title to Brent Primus due to a medical stoppage as his ankle was in ruins. I am not sure where he rolled it or if he even broke it but he could not walk on it at all. Each time he tried, he fell. He noted yesterday that his ankle or foot is NOT broken. So I am not exactly sure what the hell happened.

    - Ryan Bader captured the Bellator Light Heavyweight title defeating Phil Davis by decision. If you hated their UFC fight which admittedly was terrible then you will absolutely HATE this one since it was worse. My goodness, I now see why UFC let them both go. Snooze.

    - In an amazing piece of television, Bellator interviewed newly signed from UFC, Valerie Letourneau about her impending debut with Bellator. Letourneau said, “I am looking forward to making my UFC debut in 3 weeks’ time.” Oops!!! LOLOLOLZ.

    - Over at UFC, B.J. Penn continued to tank his career legacy by losing yet again. Dennis Siver dominated him for 3 rounds in taking a unanimous decision. Penn did get a smidgen of offense in when he successfully knocked Siver down in the second round. It is sad to see a legend like Penn continue to fight on. I know his name means something and if he were to leave UFC that Bellator would scoop him up without hesitation but UFC needs to let him be. This is terrible to watch. The defeat was Penn’s 5th STRAIGHT LOSS. He last won back in 2010 over Matt Hughes.

    - Michael Chiesa was kind of screwed by referee Mario Yamasaki in his fight with Kevin Lee. Now he was likely going to lose and likely did not have a chance to get out of the choke that Lee had locked in but Yamasaki stopped the fight before Chiesa tapped out or passed out. He wasn’t given the opportunity to make that choice as it was taken from him. It is especially weird since earlier in the show, Justine Kish, despite being locked in a choke so tight that she legit sh*t her shorts and it spread all over the mat, managed to somehow snake her way out of that choke that was locked in by Felice Herring. So off of that fight alone, Yamasaki should have let Chiesa tap out or pass out.

    - Johnny Hendricks, once a welterweight but was forced to move up to middleweight due to not being able to cut that low, MISSED WEIGHT AT MIDDLEWEIGHT for his fight with Tim Boetsch. Not that it mattered to Boetsch as he knocked Hendricks out in round 2. Hendricks is another guy that needs to be shown the door. He cannot make weight and has been a shell of his former self over the last few years. It is also amazing how things work as Hendricks career has been downhill ever since USADA took over the drug testing protocol for UFC. Weird coincidence no?

    - Even though after his loss to Mark Hunt a few weeks ago he said he was done with fighting, Derrick Lewis noted to Ariel Helwani earlier this week that he ISN’T done and hopes to fight again before the end of the year. My assumption is that he was knocked loopy and didn’t really know what he was saying.

    - UFC has cancelled their potential plans to run an August 19th PPV show from Seattle. They were talking of headlining that show with Demetrious Johnson vs. T.J. Dillashaw however with Floyd Mayweather fighting Conor McGregor one week after that proposed date, they decided against running a PPV in August altogether.

    - Meagan Anderson is OFF of her interim UFC Women’s Featherweight Title fight vs. Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino despite all the grandiose claims of her going to shock the world. She withdrew from the fight and is being replaced by Tonya Evinger. No word on why Anderson pulled out other than that it was for “Personal Reasons”.

    - Robbie Lawler vs. Donald Cerrone is OFF of the July 8th UFC 213 PPV. Cerrone has a staph infection and thus the fight will have to be moved to August or September. This is a fairly big blow to UFC as the July 8th show is supposed to be UFC’s “Wrestlemania” and this has to be the most lackluster card they have ever put out for their Mania. Cerrone vs. Lawler would have been an awesome fight for that show.

    - Instead, UFC is looking like UFC 214 on July 29th is going to be their “mania” as they already have Daniel Cormier defending the Light Heavyweight title against Jon Jones, The interim Women’s Featherweight title between Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino against Tonya Evinger and now they have added the UFC Welterweight Title with Tyrone Woodley defending against Demian Maia.

    - Dana White revealed that he has spoken to George St. Pierre and that GSP will likely face the winner of Woodley/Maia for the title this fall in Madison Square Garden. That means that GSP vs. Bisping if OFF. While I do prefer GSP fighting at Welterweight, this sucks for Michael Bisping as he deserved that seven figure payday.

    - The California State Athletic Commission is forcing Renan Barao to fight Aliamain Sterling at UFC 214 on July 29th at a catch weight of 140 lbs. They are citing his past health issues trying to make weight.

    - Nothing new on the Matt Hughes front other than his family noting that he has a long road to recovery and that he isn’t out of the woods. We do not know further on his status,

    - Dana white noted that he does not believe that Nate Diaz will fight before the end of the year and that he fully believes that Nick Diaz is NEVER going to fight again.

UFC 213 is on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC WOMEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE: Amanda Nunes © vs. Valentina Shevchenko
  • INTERIM UFC MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE: Yoel Romero vs. Robert Whitaker
  • Fabricio Werdum vs. Alistair Overeem
  • Anthony Pettis vs. Jim Miller
  • UFC 214 is on Saturday, July 29th, 2017 from Anaheim California and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Daniel Cormier © vs. Jon Jones
  • UFC WELTERWEIGHT TITLE: Tyrone Woodley © vs. Demian Maia
  • UFC WOMEN’S FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE: Cris “Cyborg” Justino vs. Tonya Evinger
  • Jim Manuwa vs. Volkan Oezdemir
  • Chan Sung Jung a.k.a The Korean Zombie vs. Ricardo Lamas
  • Renan Barao vs. Aljamain Sterling
  • Sage Northcutt vs. John Makdessi
  • UFC 215 is on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 from Edmonton Alberta Canada and the line-up is as follows:

  • Junior Dos Santos vs. Francis Ngannou

    - R.I.P. to actor Michael Nyqvist as he passed away earlier this week at age 56 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Nvqvist is probably best known for his role as the main villain Viggo Tarasov in John Wick. He is well known in Europe for playing the role of Mikael Blomkvist ini the “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” series of films.

    - Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige revealed earlier this week that despite the San Diego Comic Con coming up in a few weeks as well as D23 which is an all Disney showcase event, the official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War will likely not debut until November ahead of “Thor: Ragnarok”.

    - Both Kevin Feige and Tom Holland have confirmed that Spider-Man has been retconned and that Peter Parker was the kid in the Iron Man mask that Iron Man rescued at the Stark Expo during Iron Man 2. THIS SCENE HERE. That was Peter since the Stark Expo was in Queens and Peter would have been around this age back then. This is what causes him to respect Tony Stark so much and makes him want to use his abilities to protect people.

    - Speaking of, Homecoming is released next weekend. I fully expect to see it on Saturday or Sunday. Will let you know my thoughts. According to those who have seen it, it is the best Spider-Man film to date including Spider-Man 2.

    - Actress Rosario Dawson has left the FOX “New Mutants” film project which was a spin-off of the X-Men movie franchise. She will be replaced by actress Alice Braga. Braga will be playing the main character of Dr. Cecilia Reyes. Her aunt is actress Sonia Braga.

    - AMC has renewed “Better Call Saul” for season 4. YAY!!! Season 3 was the best season to date and business is picking up with all of the cast additions this year.

    - Even though it is premiering in theaters in IMAX, the “Inhumans” will debut in their normal ABC time slot on September 29th at 8:00 pm ET.

    - As many of you longtime readers know, I was a longtime fan of ABC’s “General Hospital” soap opera. I stopped watching more than a year ago. Probably closer to two years now however if you are a fan, you will be happy to know that Steve Burton is returning to the show. Burton is best known for the role of Jason Morgan/Jason Quartermaine. He was a mob hitman who was “killed” and then recasted after almost 20 years in the role by a famous actor from the Young & The Restless named Billy Miller. They said he was brainwashed and got plastic surgery in order to work for a criminal family and do their dirty work. He has since been “cured” of his brainwashing and remembers his life and has gotten back to it. So how will they bring Burton back? That is a good question but I am probably going to watch and find out.

    - WB is working on a LIVE ACTION Jetsons project. In 2017. This is a terrible idea.
