T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #453

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

MDJG NOTE: James Guttman is the Dad of Hi Blog! I'm Dad.

BONUS MATT NOTE:

- R.I.P. to former WWE Star Masa Saito as he passed away earlier this week at age 76.

WWE NEWS AND NOTES:

- WWE revealed that RAW Commissioner and trailblazer and pioneer in the Women’s Revolution and creator of Women’s wrestling overall Stephanie McMahon will appear on RAW to make a historic announcement. According to MIKE JOHNSON, the belief is that she is going to announce the first ever “All Women’s” PPV scheduled to take place in September possibly at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island New York.

- The big news of the week is that Hulk Hogan is BACK with the WWE. He has been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame from his 3 year suspension although I had no idea you could be suspended from the Hall and he was backstage at the Extreme Rules PPV where a meeting was held with all of the talent and Hogan personally apologized to everyone for the incident and explained that he was wrong and sorry for everything. He was welcomed with open arms and thunderous applause and the locker room seems to be ok with his apology.

- There were rumors that the apology was in fact taped for WWE to be used in the future on either a WWE 24 special or a new Hogan documentary. Those rumors have been denied by several WWE officials who were present at the time.

- Hogan left before Extreme Rules finished and was NOT at RAW which seems like a terrible idea in my opinion since RAW was coming off their lowest rated episode EVER and was up against the Major League Baseball Homerun Derby. You would think that counter programming with Hogan appearing would boost the rating some. That’s just my opinion.

- Even though Hogan was backstage at Extreme Rules to officially be welcomed back into the company and meet all of the talent, Vince McMahon was NOT backstage. He did not attend the PPV or television this week. Everything was run by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

- WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry spoke to TMZ about Hogan’s return and revealed that he believes that Hogan is genuine about repenting for his racist diatribe and that Hogan asked Henry for help in fixing things. Henry is willing to assist him in doing so.

- The New Day released a statement via Kofi Kingston via Twitter about Hogan’s return to the company and it was eloquent and strongly worded at the same time. They noted: “To the WWE Universe and whoever else it may concern: This will be the only statement we will make regarding Hogan's reinstatement into WWE's Hall of Fame. We do not wish to spend the energy debating the point, because between our kids, our external ventures, and this job, our energy is spread thin enough already, lol. We are only writing this simply to provide an answer to the many who have bombarded us with questions on where we stand on the issue. We preface this statement by emphasizing that this is our own opinion and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of anyone else affected. How do we feel? Indifferent. We are not happy, or sad, angry or resentful. Who WWE puts into the HOF is totally and completely up to the company and from a career standpoint; there is no argument on whether or not Hogan should have his place. We have no problem with his re-induction in the slightest degree. It is impossible to even begin to mention the history and evolution of the business without mentioning his name and accolades. On a personal level, when someone makes racist and hateful comments about any race or group of people, especially to the degree that Hogan made about our people, we find it difficult to simply forget, regardless of how long ago it was, or the situation in which those comments were made. But we also do not respond with more feelings of hate. Instead, we just do not associate with the people who convey or have conveyed this negative and hurtful mindset. This instance will be no different. Perhaps if we see him make a genuine effort to change, then maybe our opinion will change with him. Time will tell. Through the course of our lives, people have used racist comments towards us and it doesn't feel good. But if we stopped moving forward every time we were met with prejudicial hatred, then we would have never achieved our current accomplishments. We know we are worth it, we know our kids are worth it, and most importantly, we know that people that look like us are worth it and always have been. There isn't a person on this planet who will be ever be able to say anything to make us think otherwise because we believe in ourselves as a people and don't need anyone’s approval on that, regardless of who they are. Having said that, his reinstatement won't change anything for us. It will have zero effect on our ability to perform or the level of effort we will put into doing what we love to do, and that is: To deliver and entertaining product each week for our fan base. Sincerely, The New Day. "Never trade your authenticity for approval."

- So how long before WWE does a backstage segment with The New Day confronting Hogan because they head he doesn’t like “pancakes” and Hogan replies that he “misspoke” and that he “LOVES pancakes and some of his favorite meals ever was pancakes. It’s just some pancakes he doesn’t like. He just doesn’t want his daughter eating pancakes but he himself used to eat pancakes all of the time when he was on the road”?

- Titus O’Neil also released a statement although was not nearly as diplomatic as The New Day was about it. He wrote: To my gracious fans and the WWE Universe. The reports and rumors concerning my boycotting "Extreme Rules" in Pittsburgh is false and inaccurate. I was not scheduled to attend or be a participant in the "Extreme Rules" match/production and was otherwise not booked for the show. The talent present in Pittsburgh, which I was a part of, was asked to attend a mandatory meeting in which Mr. Terry Bollea addressed everyone and informed the same that he would be reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame. At no point during, after or otherwise did I make any scene concerning Mr. Bollea's communication to the talent. In addition, let it be known that I did not refuse to shake Mr. Bollea's hand; we did not have any type of one-on-one interaction whatsoever that would or did necessitate any exchange between us individually. As to the reinstatement of Mr. Bollea, I can only communicate that I am a proponent of second and even third chances for individuals that show true remorse, acknowledgement of wrongdoing, fulfill their punishment, if applicable, and otherwise put forth sincere efforts to correct the issues. Unfortunately, I must echo the sentiment and dissatisfaction expressed by many of my fellow contemporaries concerning Mr. Bollea's apology and its lack of true contrition, remorse and a desire to change. Mr. Bollea's apology "that he didn't know he was being recorded" is not remorse for the hateful and violent utterances he made which reprise language that has caused violence against blacks and minorities for centuries. I stand firm in my position that Mr. Bollea is entitled to reinstatement; he was and is a role model, hero and icon to countless people. I hope that Mr. Bollea's missteps in communicating to the WWE talent in Pittsburgh are not repeated to his fans and I expect that he shall pursue an agenda that clearly communicates to all third parties that his language was inappropriate, wrong and should not be tolerated in a civilized and inclusive society. As the father of two young black men, I have spent their entire life and the majority of my adult life with a singular focus; being a role model for my children and young black boys and girls. I take tremendous pride in my charity work and the community outreach programs that I have fostered via the platform I have been given. I teach my sons love and tolerance for everybody, but I also teach them to operate in truth and respect. I hope this clears up any confusion. I, like New Day, will continue to use my platform to positively affect, entertain, embrace, celebrate and love people from all backgrounds both inside and outside of the WWE Universe. Sincerely, Thaddeus Bullard aka WWE SuperStar "Titus Oneil" I mean now is as good a time as any for anyone in the WWE who has an issue with Hogan’s return to stand up and say something as WWE is absolutely NOT going to punish anyone for this so long as they keep it within line like The New Day and Titus did.

- For the record, my understanding is that it was not only the African American population of the roster that was 100% not on board with Hogan returning but almost half the roster in general was not happy with it but it is what it is.

- There are no plans to bring Hogan back to TV immediately or long term. The announcement of his reinstatement to the Hall of fame was just an effort to test the waters and see what the reaction of the general public is. The main stream media didn’t make a big issue out of it so they may just sit on him for a while and roll him back onto programming shortly after. I fully expect him to participate over Mania weekend in April however; especially in the New York market.

- Hoping and praying that this is NOT true but on his latest podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler revealed that fellow hall of famer Howard Finkel is in extremely poor health and has suffered a severe stroke recently.

- Extreme Rules was a solid show but the I.C. Title match, which was expected to be a show stealer featuring two of the top in ring performers in an Ironman match was a major disappointment. The match had potential on paper and WWE knew so which is why it closed the show over Reigns vs. Lashley which in hindsight was DUMB considering Lashley won, was hijacked by the fans counting down the clock as if it was a Royal Rumble and then they became more rowdy when Kevin Dunn made the call to pull the clock from the screen.

- The show felt WAY LONG and had way too many matches on it.

- Why does WWE continue to book Almas vs. Sin Cara as 50/50? Almas should be running over him.

- SaniTY WINS!!! YAY!!! FINALLY. SMH.

- I am happy for the “B” Team getting their win and tag team titles but it was too soon for Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt to lose them. I really wish they’d just unite the tag team division and have floating champions to create fresh competition.

- They need to KILL OFF Constable Corbin already. The gimmick is lame, fans don’t care about it and it isn’t getting him heel heat. I actually think it is hurting him more than helping.

- Asuka = Just. Another. Girl. Everything that was special about her is GONE. She isn’t a big deal anymore and I am really disappointed that WWE ruined her. It is sad that they have so many talented women yet book them all to sh*t.

- Randy Orton is back. As a heel. This could be good. I am all in on this. Fingers crossed.

- Also, Heel Nakamura is amazing. I know I have said this before but I am glad he beat Jeff to win the U.S. title and hope he makes it as big as he did with the IWGP Intercontinental Title in Japan. For those who don’t know, when he held that title, he main evented several big shows with that title over the IWGP title.

- I appreciate Kevin Owens. I really do. I also understood the reasoning begin him getting thrown off the cage since it is the 20th anniversary of Hell in a Cell with Mick Foley and the Undertaker and the show was in the same building as that match. I also get that the table spots are gimmicked now but he really didn’t need to take that bump on a throwaway show that no one is going to remember.

- By the way, Braun cannot hold onto that briefcase for much longer. He is going to look bad cashing it in on a beaten down champion. He needed to do like Rob Van Dam and John Cena both did and announce when they want their shot. He actually should have done it already. I don’t know why WWE doesn’t get it. They can’t make Braun an opportunist. They have to make him look like a man without fear.

- The reason Kane was “taken out” of the tag team title match and the match was kept short was because Kane was in fact injured on the “go home” Smackdown last week. He hurt his Achilles during the show closing angle and is in a walking boot. There wasn’t much he could do physically and they had to limit him in the ring. He isn’t expected back anytime soon with the Knox County Mayoral election coming.

- Bryan NEEDS a big feud. He is treading water. I get why since he isn’t under a new contract yet and his end date is right around the corner but I feel like he is being wasted.

- Lashley vs. Reigns felt epic and it should have been placed in the last slot on the show. I know WWE was fearful of Reigns being booed out the building but Lashley was booked to win. They should have gone last and that would have sent the fans home happy.

- Rousey at Extreme Rules was exactly what it needed to be. I think they need to turn the page a bit in their booking though. They should go more down the Steve Austin route with her. They shouldn’t have announced that she bought a ticket. Instead they should have hyped her as noting she may just show up and beat down Bliss whether its in the locker room or outside the arena or just coming out during her match. Tease her appearance and then have her run in. Having her in the front row added more of a spotlight to her interfering in the match.

- The crowd wants Rusev on top. There is absolutely no denying it. Fans love them some A.J. Styles but they absolutely would have been good with Rusev walking out of Pittsburgh with the WWE title.

- Disappointing Ironman match with a sh*t finish. Angle calls for sudden death overtime after the fighting babyface Seth Rollins BLEW a 3 – 0 lead. He ejects Drew McIntyre very early in the match for interference then when OT starts, Drew interferes and Angle doesn’t restart the match after the previously ejected McIntyre comes out and interferes? WTF?

- WWE confuses me with who they honor and who they don’t. They ran a graphic for Masa Saito at the start of the show despite him NOT being in the WWE Hall of Fame yet they pick and choose who they acknowledge and have skipped plenty of deserving names without a graphic over the past several years. Mind boggling.

- RAW was a solid show with some good stuff on it.

- Paul Heyman is awesome. Just thought I’d mention that. With that being said, as I have noted several times, WWE is only HURTING Brock by making it seem like he doesn’t care about WWE. Yes it is working to get him heel heat but it ISN’T helping get Roman Reigns over. It is only bringing down Lesnar and messing up his aura.

- Drew McIntyre, he needs to be split from Dolph and get a main event level push.

- Reigns vs. Balor vs. McIntyre was MONEY. Solid f*cking GOLD.

- This stupid Bayley vs. Banks feud that will never end. Ugh. They have wasted so much time on it and instead of striking while the iron was hot, it is now cold as ice and no one gives a sh8t because of all the start/stops of it.

- How much more of a doofus can they make Bobby Roode look? He challenges Ziggler to a match. Ziggler refuses. He then goads Ziggler by noting that he is scared since he doesn’t have McIntyre in his corner. He begrudgingly accepts. They are announcing it as an I.C. title match. Ziggler corrects it noting he didn’t agree to that. Booking logic 101 dictates that Roode wins the match since it is non-title and he fooled the cowardly heel into accepting and then proves that he couldn’t win without his heavy. Thus, it sets up a title match later. But nope. Roode loses clean to a superkick. SMH. BURIAL 101 instead.

- Ronda Rousey is the biggest star in the company. The reaction she got when she came out unannounced and destroyed James and Bliss was deafening. They have done such a good job at making her seem special. I am glad that they can do it with at least one person on the roster.

- Rousey looked absolutely abysmal in the looks department. Her hair and makeup were so terrible this week that even she made fun of some of the memes that were posted about it on her Instagram. One of them was so hilarious I legit laughed out loud. Go check them out.

- To further my point on how stupid the role of Constable Corbin is, he came out to complain that Rousey was going too far in her attacks and violating her suspension yet he or any other person in power have never said anything when Braun Strowman is committing attempted murder. Braun has yet to be suspended for flipping over ambulances or pulling down sets on Lesnar and Samoa Joe or throwing a porta potty with a human being inside off a ramp. That’s all good. But Rousey coming out to ringside and putting her rival in an arm bar is way across the line.

- Authors of Pain treading water. They are the latest example of WWE calling someone up too early with nothing to do long term or no idea how to use them.

- The main event was solid and Lashley is fitting in nicely. I really hope they go with him instead of Reigns against Lesnar at Summerslam. Problem is, they won’t.

- Where the hell are Sheamus and Cesaro? Two solid working guys who can work with a ton of talent and they’ve been benched cause they got nothing for them.

- Is Jeff Hardy losing the U.S. title step one in becoming “Brother Nero”? it could work since Matt and Bray lost the tag titles. That could be step/phase one.

- Why was I ok with Andrade “Cien” Almas losing clean to A.J. on Smackdown this week? Because he was shown as a legit competitor to A.J. and didn’t get squashed or buried. He got in a ton of offense on him. Should it have been promoted better? Absolutely. But he isn’t on “THAT’ level yet where it was a dream match. Plus, he will get his time if he stays the course and they continue to push him along slowly. Now if they turn this into a mini-feud until the next challenger for A.J. is ready (Samoa Joe) then that is a problem. I was upset that this didn’t close the show though as it should have.

- Almas and Zelina Vega are a real main event level act and he absolutely could be what they wanted Alberto Del Rio to become.

- So is Lana with Rusev or not? Why don’t they just make them a package with Aiden English? I think the three of them at ringside would work well together presentation wise.

- Can anyone explain why in the world did Becky Lynch need to beat Carmella in a non-title match when she hasn’t lost in forever and beaten a ton of people via tap out for weeks now?

- So we are clear, Kane hurt his foot so Miz has a funeral for Team Hell No? He wasn’t stretchered out. He wasn’t murdered like Braun Strowman does to people on Raw. He has a minor injury. Sigh.

- It will likely be made official next week on Smackdown but it appears we are heading to A.J. Styles defending the Smackdown title against Samoa Joe at Summerslam. Ideally, I think they should switch the title to Joe at this show. Styles has been a great champion and ambassador for the brand but Joe needs a run and the money is in the chase.

- The Miz missed Extreme Rules on Sunday due to participating in the Major League Baseball Celebrity softball tournament. Miz actually took home the MVP award for the game. He went 2 for 2 in the game and ended up having the play of the game by robbing ESPN analyst Tim Kurkjian of a base hit and turning it into an unexpected double play. It is expected that the Miz will be invited to participate in next year’s game since it is in his hometown of Cleveland.

- Raw ratings rebounded strongly from the record low last week with a 16% increase in viewership which is odd since it was up against strong competition with the MLB Home run derby. Odds are that people got the Hulk Hogan news about him being reinstated into the Hall of fame as well as the tease of Brock Lesnar appearing.

- It is expected that Brock Lesnar will make his return to television for the first time since the Greatest Royal Rumble in April at the July 30th RAW from Miami Florida.

- WWE announced that Ronda Rousey will be making her debut in China when WWE returns to the country on September 1st.

- Charlotte Flair revealed that she expects to be cleared to return to action on July 31st.

- James Ellsworth is NOT under contract and is only being paid on a per appearance basis. He is only booked for television and PPV’s and is still able to take independent bookings so long as he doesn’t work for promotions that run television.

- WWE officially revealed via the New York Post that “Madison Square Garden is of course free to work with Ring of Honor wrestling in any capacity they choose.” In the end it boiled down to MSG not wanting to have to go to court to battle Sinclair Broadcasting in a lawsuit all because of WWE.

- WWE held a panel at the San Diego Comic Con earlier today. Matt Hardy was asked by a fan which wrestler in NXT he would like to work with. Matt replied with ”Are the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega in NXT?” but before the fan could reply, WWE Smackdown Champion A.J. Styles interrupted and said: “Not yet.” Interesting!!!

- NXT Takeover Brooklyn’s line up appears to be set as some MAJOR SPOILERS took place at this week’s television taping. Skip to the next paragraph if you do not want to be spoiled. I am warning you. Last chance. Ok. You have been fairly warned. At the NXT Television tapings that took place on Wednesday, Tommaso Ciampa defeated Alistair Black to capture the NXT World Title. He will now defend that title at Takeover Brooklyn, which I will be attending, in a three way against Black and Johnny Gargano. Rounding out the card is Shayna Baszler defending the women’s title against Kari Sane. The Undisputed Era will defend the tag team titles against Moustache Mountain. Adam Cole will defend the North American championship against Ricochet and EC III will battle with Velveteen Dream. It is a super stacked card that I am excited to be watching in person.

- Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was in attendance at the television tapings this week. He also had a two day workout (or hopefully tryout) at the Performance Center this week. He worked out with Norman Smiley and Shawn Michaels as well as participated in a yoga workout with WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page who was a guest trainer this week.

- UFC Heavyweight Travis Browne a.k.a husband to Ronda Rousey noted that he is under contract to UFC but wouldn’t say no to potentially wrestling for WWE in the future and said that he’d love to team with his wife one day. He also noted that Ronda has NEVER been happier than she is working for WWE.

- WWE made official their latest list of signees for NXT with Keith Lee, Io Shirai and Deonna Purrazzo making the cut. Also debuting at the Performance Center are MJ Jenkins who briefly wrestled for Impact under that name. Joining her is Lacey Lane a former college basketball player and independent wrestler. Stacey Ervin Jr.; he is a major collegiate gymnast and the boyfriend of Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles. Luke Menzies, a former U.K. Rugby player, Taishan Dong, a 7-foot tall boxer from China and Denzel Dejournette, an amateur wrestler from Appalachian State college.

- Lee actually has already made his in ring debut as he worked Wednesday’s TV taping under the Keith Lee name. We will see if this was just a dark match or his official debut. Lee used his “Limitless” nickname in debuting.

- Donovan Dijak is going to be making his official NXT television debut soon as he has been working under his real name since he signed last year at Live Events but he has now been given his official NXT name of Dominik Dijakovic. Also getting his official NXT name is former TNA star Gunner as he is now known as Jaxson Ryker.

- Four Horsewoman Jessamyn Duke is getting rave reviews for her work at the Performance Center and is said to be picking up wrestling as quickly as both Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey. Marina Shafir on the other hand has not been training as much as Duke due to her still having a fairly young newborn and having to split her time being a mother. She is under contract and does train at the PC although not daily like Duke.

- It has been made official that the NXT Takeover: Los Angeles show in November coinciding with “Survivor Series” weekend will be WAR GAMES. The date is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th.

- WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page as well as the former Braxton Sutter in Impact were both guest coaches at the WWE Performance Center this week.

- Several more names have been added alongside Kaitlyn and Rhea Ripley to the Mae Young Classic tournament. As expected, Io Shirai will make her official roster debut in the tournament. Joining her are Nicole Matthews who was an alternate for the inaugural tournament in the event that someone was forced to pull out due to injury. Also participating are Jinny, a U.K. based female who recently signed with NXT U.K. as well as former “American Ninja Warrior” contestant Kacy Catanzaro. She had signed with WWE in 2017 and began training at the WWE Performance Center in January 2018. She has been wrestling on NXT live events in April. The recently signed Deonna Purrazzo is in the tournament as well as Tegan Nox who used to wrestle as Nixon Newell. Jessie Elaban and Reina Gonzalez were also confirmed. They both currently tour on NXT Live events but have NOT wrestled on NXT TV yet. Gonzalez did participate in the Mae Young Classic last year losing to Nicole Savoy in round one. Also returning to the tournament and hopefully being signed to a contract are Mia Yim and Mercedes Martinez. They both NEED TO BE IN WWE like yesterday as I don’t think there are many more females around that aren’t currently signed in the U.S. as good as the two of them. I don’t get the hold up in signing them. They should have been signed last year after the first classic.

- Former WWE Diva Kelly Kelly is open to returning full time to the company. She and her husband, NHL star Sheldon Souray which ended up getting her a spot on E!’s “WAGS” (Wives and Girlfriends of Sports) separated in October. She is no longer on the show due to the separation. She has her own clothing line coming out as well as a movie but she is young, super-hot and working hard training for a return.

- It’s not really hard to do stuff LIKE THIS for people on the main roster too. It is amazing to me that NXT can do this but WWE can’t.

- Lio Rush has the potential to carry 205 Live the way Enzo Amore did. He has what it takes.

- Stephanie McMahon, Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, Mickie James and Lana were all attendees at the ESPN ESPY AWARDS show this week which aired on ABC. WWE was honored with the ESPN ESPY Sports Humanitarian Award for the 2nd consecutive year. Reigns was the one who received the honor on WWE’s behalf. Charlotte presented the award to the “Best College Athlete” along with rapper G-Easy. The award was won by Baker Mayfield who plays football for The Oklahoma Sooners.

- Daniel Bryan shot down a LOT of fans dreams last week when he revealed in an interview with The Business Times that odds are he will stay with the WWE when his contract expires on September 1st. He noted that he loves working with WWE and his wife is still in fact employed by the company so there is a good chance he will re-sign when his contract is up. He has NOT signed anything contrary to what some reports are saying but he and WWE have been negotiating and a deal is either already on the table or close to being on the table.

- ANGLE ALERT!! ANGLE ALERT!! Elias, on “Busted Open Radio” and then on his social media pages has been throwing out challenges and comments to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. While this will NOT end in a match between the two, I am hoping that it ends with a “rock concert” where The Rock eviscerates him. Ideally I’d like to see it at Summerslam but wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to hold off until Wrestlemania instead.

- Despite being retired then being unretired and then being brought back for special occasions, there are discussions for the Undertaker to return at Summerslam for a match.

- For reasons unknown at this time, Kevin Owens has shut down his Twitter account.

- Speaking of Johnson, his “summer blockbuster” Skyscraper debuted in a disappointing 3rd place overall at the U.S. box office trailing Hotel Transylvania 3 and Ant-Man & The Wasp. The film was projected to make $41 million and fell WAY short of that number debuting to $35 million instead. The Hollywood Reporter is claiming it is due to overexposure which may be true as this was The Rock’s fifth movie in the last 14 months and he has four more films scheduled to come out in 2019. That is a lot of Johnson to see.

- The dog that bit WWE U.S. Champion Shinsuke Nakamura a few weeks ago in California will NOT be disciplined following an internal investigation with the Bakersfield Police Department.

- Meet THE COACHES of the WWE Performance Center.

- WWE stock passed $80 per share with Morgan Stanley analysts predicting that it will surpass $100 per share eventually. The $80 threshold gives WWE a value of $6 BILLION dollars which is around 196 times earnings. WOW.

- Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was named the highest paid actor in Hollywood and finished 4th overall on the highest paid entertainer list. Who would have thought this back in 1997? He earned $124 million last year. Boxer Floyd Mayweather finished in 1st with $285 million.

  • WWE UNIVERSAL TITLE: Brock Lesnar © w/Paul Heyman vs. either Roman Reigns or Bobby Lashley
  • WWE RAW WOMEN’S TITLE: Alexa Bliss © w/Mickie James vs. Ronda Rousey
  • Ring of Honor / New Japan / Lucha Underground / IMPACT WRESTLING / Major League Wrestling / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - Last night I attended the MLW “Battle Riot” show in Queens New York and in all honesty, MLW legit has some serious potential to grow and become a serious contender with ROH, Impact, PWG and Evolve in the U.S.

    - For those who want to check it out, Bein Sports will air it next Friday night as a two-hour special.

    - The show was a nice and eclectic mix of veteran, legend and young talent including some guys I have never heard of before let alone seen in action like Myron Reed or Koto Brazil. Reed has a ton of potential and a bright future if he keeps it up and continues learning. Eyes open and mouth shut kid. And always keep working. It is a great time to be young and up and coming in the wrestling business. There are a ton of opportunities out there for people to make a living, be successful and sign with WWE in the end.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman is AWESOME and has super potential. I don’t know who else is on the creative team after Court Bauer, Bruce Prichard and Mister Saint Laurant but they are heading in the right direction.

    - Brody King also wrestled on the show and it was my first time seeing ANYTHING related to him. I have read his name on a ton of Indy show results but never got around to tracking down footage of him. For someone who has been in the business for as short a time as he has, he is going to be something special to watch down the road and I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE puts their eye on him. A few more years of fine tuning and he is going to be ready for prime time.

    - If anyone is thinking that the well is going to run dry and this incarnation if MLW is going to go the way of the original incarnation back in the early 2000’s you are surely mistaken. I met the people who are financially backing the promotion and they absolutely have all their ducks in a row and have ideas on how to be successful and keep the company afloat. I also met Court Bauer briefly but unfortunately didn’t have time to talk to him and pick his brain on the future of MLW.

    - The show itself was a complete success. The building was set up excellently and I am not sure what the total attendance was but whatever it was, it was sold out with plenty of standing room only tickets sold.

    - The show ran approximately 4 hours long. It started exactly at 7 pm and ended exactly at 11 pm on the dot. Excellent timing. There were some cool surprises in the Battle Riot match itself with the previously announced Konnan making his wrestling return and Kevin Sullivan completely misreading the crowd as he came out in a Boston Red Sox shirt in an effort to get cheap heel heat but since it was Kevin Sullivan and he doesn’t wrestle often, he got a massive pop.

    - By the way, one minute intervals my ass. I timed it. I assume they were running long due to the undercard so they intervals were about 40 seconds between participants.

    - Sami Callihan threw up at ringside following his match. Ugh.

    - Another massive pop went to The Blue Meanie!!! That was an awesome surprise appearance.

    - What was majorly disappointing however is that we got “G-rated” Joey Ryan. The crowd was DYING to see Ryan’s act but my assumption is that his act is not suitable for Bein Sports so it had to be toned down. I was disappointed myself since I have only seen Ryan wrestle in person once before MANY years ago before he took on this gimmick/persona.

    - In all honesty, while I imagine MMA is his love still and as soon as his suspension is lifted, he is going to work for UFC; Tom Lawlor is like a fish to water in wrestling. For someone who has only been doing it for a year, he is will past where his skill level should be. He has “IT” and those in management agree since he is being pushed to the moon.

    - On the flip side of that coin is MLW champion Low-Ki. It is always great to see him in action and he is, when he wants to be, one of the best workers in the world from an in-ring perspective. It is just sad/disappointing to see him when he should be a star in one of the top promotions in the world. He has burned so many bridges when he could have been a part of some major milestones in wrestling. He missed the boom period of New Japan as he left right before it took off to the heights it is now at. He missed the “independent era” of WWE as he was gone before C.M. Punk, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe, A.J. Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor, etc.; all contemporaries of his became household names. He missed Impact being reborn/relaunched and actually becoming entertaining. He missed out on ROH becoming the 2nd best promotion in the United States and exponential growth that even they never expected. He missed out on Evolve becoming a feeder system to WWE. He missed out on NXT becoming a touring brand where their stars are treated like legit wrestling stars and actually get their own action figured. It’s a shame. I hope he sticks around MLW because they really have something and could make a major splash in the wrestling world.

    - Shane Strickland, the former MLW World Champion has something special. I was informed that MLW wanted to build around him and when he first signed with the company, he was missing that important piece of the puzzle but over time, with confidence and following direction, it is coming along and they are all in on him.

    - Pentagon and Fenix are awesome. In person, they had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands. Not to be outdone, Drago and Ray Horus aren’t slouches either. Horus was a last minute surprise replacement for Aero Star. No word on why Aero Star missed the show but MLW delivered in the end so all is good.

    - After the match in old school Lucha Libre tradition, fans threw money into the ring. In Mexico, this is a HUGE sign of respect and all four men appreciated it as they The Lucha Brothers cut a promo thanking the fans and noting that they’d be back.

    - Brian Pillman II is the splitting image of his dad and if he is as solid of a worker as he was, he is going to go FAR. His mannerisms are fantastic and he has a great look.

    - WWE missed the boat on Harry Smith. Watching “Davey Boy Smith Jr.” in the ring is a sight to see. He has the look of a super duper star and can work his ass off. I will never understand why they didn’t keep him.

    - Smith Jr. actually won the heavyweight division of the Bully Robinson Classic “catch wrestling tournament”. That is legit a bad ass thing to win as it is a shoot wrestling tournament. He was trained for if by former UFC star and New Japan on AXS commentator Josh Barnett. Both have trained under Robinson and that is the reason Smith Jr. was wearing “Snake Pit Catch Wrestling” shorts during the Battle Riot when he wore tights during his tag match earlier in the show.

    - Teddy Hart is gonna Teddy Hart. That is all I can say about him. So talented and yet so off in his own world. He entered the Battle Riot and he got a massive pop coming out, took off his gear, came into the ring and then immediately did a moon sault on a group of people outside eliminating himself in the process. LOL.

    - I did learn earlier today that Rich Swann was injured legit during the tag team match with him and ACH vs. The Harts. It is believed that he was concussed and he left the show immediately after the match with his longtime girlfriend Su Yang who was backstage. He was hospitalized. Both he and Yang were scheduled to be in the Battle Riot match at the end of the show but both were replaced.

    - I am NOT sold on Jimmy Havoc. Can someone fill me in on what his deal is? He was over like a superstar but I just don’t see it. What should I look for online to see what all the hullaballoo is about?

    - Seeing PCO a.k.a. Pierre Carl Outlette for the first time since his career resurgence was interesting. I like the gimmick and the fact that at age 50 he can still go was something to see. He beat Homicide in a 1x1 match and participated in the Battle Riot as well. 50 year old men really shouldn’t be doing suicide dives and moonsaults. Just saying.

    - Speaking of 50 year old men, I am trying to get an update on former Headshrinker Samu. He was a participant in the Battle Riot but upon me leaving, I was him being taken out in an ambulance. At age 55, that can’t be a good thing. I really hope he is ok. He did a spot where he and his real life son Lance Anoa’i teamed up in the Riot match only for Lance to eliminate him immediately after.

    - His brother Lloyd Anoa’i a.k.a. L.A. Smooth also participated in the Riot match later on.

    - Jake Hager a.k.a. Jack Swagger. Another name WWE missed the boat on. Sigh. I am not saying he would be “The guy” but he really should be on the main roster as a high mid card/lower main event guy. Instead, he was treated as a jobber in WWE.

    - It was great running into old friends at the show. I chopped it up with Homicide, “The Jurassic Juggernaut” Vince Steele, “The King of New York a.k.a. El Rey All Day” E.C. Negro and the surprise of the night, Matt Striker as he joined Tony Schiavone on commentary.

    - MLW will return to Queens on October 4th at the Mellrose Ballroom with the debut of L.A. Park which should be AWESOME. I will be there so if you are in the area, you should too.

    - SIMPLY AMAZING!!! Now you cannot do this at every wrestling show nor can you do an entire wrestling show around this. But once in a blue moon, something as simple and as fun as this is AMAZING for fans. Solid f*cking GOLD to whoever the person is that came up with this idea to do in a Battle Royal. They are the real MVP.

    - The Annual G1 Climax tournament has begun and in a MAJOR upset, “Switchblade” Jay White defeated Kazuchika Okada in the main event of the first show. It was followed up with Okada losing to Bad Luck Fale in his 2nd match of the tournament putting him at 0 – 2. This was a continuation of the angle of Okada being on a losing streak and in a funk since losing the IWGP title to Kenny Omega. He finally won his first match defeating Hangman Page early this morning U.S. time to get his first win which saw him cry following the win and claim that his G1 was now getting started.

    - As I have noted in the past two years, I DO NOT watch all of the G1 matches. I only find the standouts and watch them when I have an opportunity. I do follow the results however which is why it is MIND BLOWING to see that Tama Tonga lost to SANADA considering the big angle just done with The Bullet Club. I can tell you however that DAVE MELTZER has given both of Kenny Omega’s matches (vs. Naito and vs. Goto) 5 STARS!!! Omega and Okada have to be number one and number two on the greatest wrestler in the world list no?

    - Hiromu Takahashi tweeted that he is “fine” and thanked everyone for their support following his injury at the G1 Special in San Francisco. The tweet was sent in English, Japanese and Spanish.

    - Both Will Ospreay and Zack Sabre Jr. have been pulled from the PROGRESS Wrestling show on September 30th in the Wembley Arena due to their New Japan commitments in Long Beach California. It is a big loss for PROGRESS as it was built around the main event of Travis Banks defending the PROGRESS title against Sabre Jr. as well as Pete Dunne defending the WWE U.K. Title against wXw Champion Ilja Dragunov.

    - WWE officially revealed via the New York Post that “Madison Square Garden is of course free to work with Ring of Honor wrestling in any capacity they choose.” The end result of MSG allowing ROH to have the date spurned from MSG not wanting to go to war with Sinclair Broadcasting in a lengthy and costly legal battle that they could eventually lose all on behalf of WWE. Usually WWE would tie up legal proceedings for YEARS as witnessed by the C.M. Punk lawsuit that went on for 3 years in order to run their opponent dry. But Sinclair is a billion dollar corporation and would have kept fighting despite missing the April date all to win in the end. Plus, Sinclair owns several Fox affiliates across the country. So it would NOT have been in WWE’s best interests to go to court over this and piss off Sinclair when they are eventually going to be airing Smackdown on their networks. That is why WWE conceded and let ROH run the building.

    - With this show likely being set up for 15,000 fan seating and the expected high ticket prices (with the lowest seat likely costing $50), this will be the highest grossing non-WWE wrestling show ever in the U.S. as the gate will likely surpass $1,000,000 making it the ONLY non-WWE wrestling show to hit that number. Not even WCW drew a $1,000,000 gate in their prime and they almost sold out the Georgia Dome for Hogan vs. Goldberg on Nitro. That would be an amazing accomplishment if they sold out.

    - With all of the wrestling going on that weekend due to Wrestlemania, ROH while likely selling out or coming close to selling out would need a HUGE main event such as Omega vs. Okada or a returning C.M. Punk or Daniel Bryan headlining.

    - In big news for ROH, they have apparently signed Jeff Cobb to a contract. He is amazing on the independents and in his limited spots in New Japan. Full time in ROH will only guarantee him bigger matches for NJPW and he will only improve more working in ROH and New Japan. He currently works in Lucha Underground as well as Matanza which means that is going to come to an end.

    - Flip Gordon has been named the FINAL participant in the U.K. vs. U.S. International Cup tournament at the “Honor Re-United” shows in August for ROH. The 8 participants are:

  • Flip Gordon
  • Mark Haskins
  • Kim Sabian
  • Jonathan Gresham
  • Christopher Daniels
  • Hangman Page
  • Joe Hendry
  • Jimmy Havoc
  • - The first round matches of the tournament are Jimmy Havoc vs. Christopher Daniels, Mark Haskins vs. Jonathan Gresham, Joe Hendry vs. Hangman Page & Kip Sabian vs. Flip Gordon.

    - In what is unfortunate news for ROH and Sinclair Broadcasting, their attempted merger with Tribune is in jeopardy as the FCC voted against it noting that it would not be in the best interest of the public since it would break the 39% limit that the FCC has set up for one network to have local broadcasting in place. By purchasing Tribune, Sinclair would own or operating TV stations in 59% of all television homes.

    - The announce team is officially “All In”. Cody has confirmed via social media that the official announce team for “All In” is as follows. Ian Riccaboni, play by play man for ROH will be joined by PWG announcer Excalibur and New Japan Pro Wrestling color commentator Don Callis. Backstage interviews and announce duties will be done by Impact backstage interviewer Alicia Atout and former WWE backstage interviewer Sean Mooney. Doing ring announcing are ROH announcer Bobby Cruise and former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts. The show will air live via streaming service as well as traditional PPV although no streaming service or PPV carriers have been confirmed yet.

    - The main event of the “Chris Jericho Rock & Wrestling Rager Cruise” has been announced as Jericho will team up with Matt & Nick Jackson a.k.a. The Young Bucks to battle in six man tag team action against IWGP Champion Kenny Omega, Cody and Marty Scurll. It is Bullet Club vs. Bullet Club. The show will also feature a 16 man “Sea of Honor” tournament where the winner will receive a future title shot at the ROH title and on one of the days of the cruise; Marty Scurll will also wrestle Sami Callihan in an ROH vs. Impact match.

    - Matt Riddle has pulled out of his commitments for Over The Top Wrestling in Ireland on August 18th and 19th. That is notable because he didn’t give a reason for pulling out and that is Summerslam weekend in NYC.

    - Impact Wrestling Star Madison Rayne will be challenging for the ROH Women of Honor title against champion Sumie Sakai on July 21st in Atlanta Georgia. It is interesting because she is challenging for the Impact Knockouts Title on Sunday.

    - Impact’s Slammiversary this Sunday is SOLD OUT with 1,200 tickets. That is a big win for Impact. Good for them.

    - Tickets to Monday and Tuesday’s television tapings are NOT sold out however so if you are in Toronto and interested in attending, you can still get seats.

    - Sienna is no longer with Impact as her contract expired and she did not sign a new deal.

    - I was recently reminded about the TNA Bootcamp that was run in the U.K. several years back when TNA was looking to sign a British wrestler to the roster. Then I was reminded that while Mark Andrews won the contest, Rockstar Spud (Now Drake Maverick on 205 Live) ended up the biggest star of the bunch yet the contest also featured Marty Scurll, Kris Travis, Dave Mastiff and Grado. SMH.

    - R.I.P. to California independent wrestler Virgil Flynn as he passed away at the incredibly young age of 33 due to suffering from heat stroke. That is TERRIBLE. Condolences to his family and friends.

    - Former MTV reality star from “16 and Pregnant” then “Teen Mom” and then an adult film Farrah Abraham is making her wrestling debut for “World Class Revolution Wrestling”. Why? I have no idea.

    - Ayako Hamada, daughter of Gran Hamada was forced into retirement from professional wrestling following a drug conviction for possessing methamphetamine. She was sentenced to 3 years’ probation in Japan following her May 13th arrest. Drug possession or arrests are a HUGE deal in Japan and considered very shameful. She was fired by her home promotion Pro Wrestling Wave immediately following her arrest being made public and she was stripped of the Sendai Girls World Title which she was also the holder of.

    - To the surprise of absolutely no one except those behind the promotion, Arolucha’s “Go Fund Me” campaign to get funding for the promotion with the promises of being able to invest and thus have say in storylines, matchmaking, booking etc. is almost at a close with about $122,400 raised.

    - Latest Episode of BEING THE ELITE including the above mentioned announcement of Chris Jericho and The Young Bucks vs. The Bullet Club.

IMPACT WRESTLING “SLAMMIVERSARY PPV” is THIS SUNDAY from Toronto Canada and the line-up is as follows:

  • IMPACT TITLE: Austin Aries © vs. Moose
  • HAIR VS. MASK MATCH: Sami Callihan vs. Pentagon
  • Johnny Impact vs. Rich Swann vs. Taiji Ishimori vs. Fenix
  • 5150 STREET FIGHT: LAX (Ortiz & Santana) w/Konnan vs. LAX (Homicide & Hernandez) w/The King
  • KNOCKOUTS TITLE: Su Yang © vs. Madison Rayne
  • X-DIVISION TITLE: Matt Sydal © vs. Brian Cage
  • Tessa Blanchard vs. Allie
  • MMA News and Notes:

    - Nick Diaz, you know the 170 lbs. fighter who hasn’t fought in over 2 years due to a suspension and is currently being investigated for domestic violence? Well he challenged 245 lbs. UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier to a fight. LOL.

    - Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has also thrown his name into the hat as a potential challenger for Cormier and the Heavyweight Title. It is fun to see all of these random names coming out of the woodwork trying to shake down that “big money fight” from DC.

    - Alexander Gustafsson revealed that he believes Daniel Cormier will do better fighting at Heavyweight than Light Heavyweight.

    - Speaking of Gustafsson, DOWN GOES VOLKAN OEZDEMIR!!!! He is OUT of his UFC 227 fight against Gustafsson due to suffering a broken nose during training. No replacement has been made yet.

    - Despite wanting to fight Amanda Nunes in September, Cris “Cyborg” Justino revealed that she is ok with fighting Nunes in December if that is what she and UFC wants but if that is indeed the case, she is looking to fight BEFORE December and with her contract coming to an end since she has two fights left on her current deal, she will probably fight Nunes and be done with UFC.

    - With Brock Lesnar coming back to UFC, Mark Hunt and his attorneys are amending their lawsuit against UFC to include Lesnar receiving a title shot despite coming off a suspension for doping. In all honesty, Lesnar’s return and preferential treatment are NOT a good thing for UFC’s defense of Hunt’s lawsuit.

    - Speaking of Lesnar, he has agreed to be a guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast in the near future although no date has been set. This will be interesting as Brock is notoriously against doing interviews unless he absolutely has to and Rogan pulls absolutely no punches when asking questions.

    - UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whitaker revealed that he will NOT be able to return to defend his title against Kelvin Gastelum until at least February 2019.

    - After winning the Interim Welterweight Title in his last fight, UFC is likely going to strip Colby Covington of the title as they were targeting a unification bout with Welterweight champion Tyrone Woodley at UFC 228 on September 8th however Covington is unable to fight on that day for “undisclosed reasons” according to UFC. They are now toying with Woodley vs. Darren Till instead. That is a risky decision to make considering Till missed weight by A LOT in his recent win over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in a fight which most people thought Thompson won.

    - USADA has announced that Anderson Silva’s most recent drug test failure in November 2017 prior to his fight with Kelvin Gastelum was in fact due to a tainted supplement he was taking that he listed on his forms prior to licensing did not have any notice of anabolic steroids in the ingredients yet was found to have anabolic steroids in the product. Due to this, he will receive a one-year suspension retroactive to October 2017. This means he will be eligible to return to fighting on November 1st. Had he been illegally been using anabolic steroids and had knowledge of it, he would have suffered a four-year suspension due to it being his 2nd drug test failure. His last fight was a win against Derek Brunson in February 2017 which he won via unanimous decision. He had lost his previous 5 fights before the Brunson win.

    - There have been serious discussions within UFC to have Max Holloway vacate his title and move up in weight feeling that UFC dodged a major bullet with his health a few weeks ago.

    - UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Nicco Montano will defend her title on September 8th in Dallas Texas against Valentina Shevchenko.

    - UFC star Brian Ortega continues to battle UFC management and he is absolutely correct in doing so. UFC has been super stingy in situations like these for unknown reasons. Ortega wants to be compensated or at least have his training camp compensated by UFC since Max Holloway pulled out of his fight against him a few weeks ago. UFC’s argument is that they offered him a replacement fight therefore he shouldn’t be paid anything since he turned them down. That is ridiculous in my eyes since Ortega trained hard, had a full camp, did all the necessary media and then some only for the fight to be cancelled on him cause of Holloway. He should be forced to jeopardize a title opportunity to take a different fight at the last minute. The goal for everyone in UFC is to become champion in order to make more money. He is in the right to wait for Holloway to improve health wise is his choice and right.

    - And while on the subject of Ortega, he is a textbook case as to why UFC needs to do something about weight cutting and having fighters fight at their natural or close to natural weight. Ortega revealed in an interview last week that he walks around at 185 lbs. Read that again. 185 lbs. yet he fights at 145 lbs. That is HUGE.

    - Conor McGregor was a personal guest of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the World Cup Finals on Sunday. He attended the game in Putin’s personal suite and there are pictures of the two together. Interestingly enough, Khabib Nurmagomedov was also at the game and revealed that he purposely didn’t interact with him despite owing McGregor a receipt for trying to attack him in Brooklyn several months ago.

    - Sage Northcutt’s UFC contract expired with his recent win over Zak Ottow. He is currently in an exclusive negotiating period with the company.

    - Business as usual for UFC as despite still being in a legal battle with Mark Hunt over a plethora of issues, Hunt will main event the UFC Fight Night show on September 15th in Moscow Russia against Alexey Oleynik.

    - Despite claiming he HATED M-1 Global and primarily placing the blame on them for causing UFC to not sign Fedor Emelianenko, Dana White has worked out a deal to co-promote UFC Russia. M-1 will run the promotion and throw shows throughout the country. The first show is the above mentioned Fight Night headlined by Mark Hunt.

    - Bellator MMA announced that the Welterweight Grand Prix will feature current Welterweight champion Rory MacDonald, Michael “Venom” Page, Douglas Lima, Andrey Koreshokov, Ed Ruth, Neiman Gracie, Yaroslav Amosov, Lorenz Larkin, Jon Fitch and Paul Daley. This tournament should feature some exciting fights and match ups. The tournament will debut on September 29th with Koreshokov vs. Lima. The main event of that card will be Middleweight Champion Gegard Mousasi defending his title against Welterweight Champion Rory MacDonald. It is a 10 person field meaning that two of the fights will be “play in” fights where the winner will get into the tournament.

    - UFC will be expanding into Argentina as they are running their first ever show in Buenos Aires on November 17th.

    - Scott Coker also confirmed that all of the fights for the Grand Prix will be 5 rounds and all of Rory MacDonald’s fights will be title defenses. Should MacDonald lose his title in the tournament, the person who defeats him will also be defending the title as well thus guaranteeing that the finals of the tournament will be for the Welterweight title.

    - Bellator also revealed the pricing structure for the DAZN network. The cost will be $9.99 a month with the first month being a free trial.

    - Last week it was revealed that one of the semi-final matches of the Bellator MMA Heavyweight Grand Prix will take place on Friday, October 12th from the Moehegan Sun Casino in Connecticut with Matt Mitrione vs. Ryan Bader. Well the other semi-final will take place just one day later on Saturday October 13th in Long Island New York with Chael Sonnen taking on Fedor Emelianenko. So we will know who the finalists of the tournament are that night. The assumption is that the finals will not take place until early 2019.

UFC ON FOX is on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 from Calgary Alberta Canada and the line-up is as follows:

  • Eddie Alvarez vs. Dustin Porier
  • Jose Aldo vs. Jeremy Stephens
  • Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Tecia Torres
  • UFC 227 is on Saturday, August 4th, 2018 from Los Angeles California and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE: T.J. Dillashaw © vs. Cody Garbrandt
  • UFC FLYWEIGHT TITLE: Demetrious Johnson © vs. Henry Cejudo
  • Alexander Gustafsson vs. TBD
  • Cub Swanson vs. Renato Moicano
  • Polyanna Vianna vs. JJ Aldrich
  • UFC 228 is on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 from TBD and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC WOMEN’S FLYWEIGHT TITLE: Nicco Montano © vs. Valentina Shevchenko
  • Yair Rodriquez cs. Zabit Magomedsharipov
  • Jimmie Rivera vs. John Dodson

    - THIS LINK is for LIFE. Thank you soldiers. WELCOME HOME BLOG.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: This was incredibly terrible to see. I’ve tried to refrain from politics and despite our POTUS being a real douche, this is just next level bad.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 1: Can’t really walk this one back Mr. President. That ship has sailed.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: How the f*ck does this keep happening week in and week out. Lemonade stands, newspaper deliver boys, BBQing in the park. WTF?

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: Someone definitely failed Public Relations 101 in college because while I get what they are trying to do, this is a TERRIBLE idea.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 4: Hoping and praying that they get the maximum sentence when the trial starts and spend the rest of their lives in jail.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 5: I’d legit love it if I was given a day to absolutely torture this woman slowly and painfully before murdering her. Please. Why can’t vigilantism be made legal? I’m considering going into training to become one. I’ll take the risk and accept the consequences. Especially in a case like this. WTF? Sickening.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 6: People need to stop trying to be tough guys if they don’t have the backbone to be tough guys. SMH.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 7: With all the sh*t that goes on behind the scenes at this show, how in the f*ck does ABC not cancel it? It cannot be worth the headache with all of the power struggles, fights and constant bickering from hosts. I’ve been documenting all of these blow ups for years now.

    - Comcast has officially withdrawn from the race to purchase 21st Century Fox thus leaving Disney free and clear to proceed ahead with the acquisition. If all goes well, Disney and Marvel will regain the rights to the Fantastic Four and X-Men universes and they will absolutely be implemented in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The U.S. Justice Department has noted that they are ok with the merger so long as Disney sells some of the regional sports networks they will acquire in the deal in order not to have a monopoly due to their ownership stake in ESPN and their regional networks. The deal does not include Fox and Fox Sports due to Disney already owning the broadcast network ABC and sports network ESPN. The deal does include the entire film division and catalog, FX Network, National Geographic Network, 30% ownership in Hulu which now gives Disney a 60% stake in the streaming service since they already owned 30%, Fox’s stake in Sky TV in the U.K. and Star India’s television channels. The major part of the acquisition though is the movie and TV library which will provide Disney with the Avatar franchise as well as the Ice Age animated movie franchise and the Planet fo the Apes franchise. It will also give Disney back kthe rights to the above mentioned Fantastic Four and X-men universes but also the distribution rights to Star Wars: A New Hope which Fox owned as well as the TV catalog and production rights to the hit TV shows The Simpsons, American Horror Story and Homeland.

    - BREAKING NEWS: Disney has fired director James Gunn from directing “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” following some old inappropriate tweets have resurfaced from years ago back in 2008 and 2009.

    - Marvel/Netflix’s “Iron Fist” will premiere on September 7th. They have hired the fight coordinator from Marvel’s “Black Panther” film this season. Stoked for it.

    - Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series is RETURNING. 12 new episodes have been created for Disney’s new streaming service. No premiere date has been set.

    - The San Diego Comic Con began yesterday. All of the major news will happen later today and all day tomorrow so I will cover all of the comic book movie/TV series stories next week. We are expected to get a lot of reveals including the Aquaman Trailer, Shazam trailer, possibly Wonder Woman 2 trailer and other things. Should be a goodie.

    - At Comic Con, actor Andrew Lincoln did in fact officially confirm his departure from the show this upcoming season. He did not confirm how he will exit but did say that they have something special and amazing planned and anyone who loves the Ric character is going to love what they do.

    - It was also announced that The Walking Dead has cast actress Samantha Morton as the evil “Alpha” for the upcoming season. Alpha is the leader of “The Whisperers”.

    - The cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine had a panel at Comic Con and they in fact confirmed that season will NOT be the last of the show and they will be back for a 7th season.

    - It has been revealed that WB had hoped to lock in “Black Adam” to be the villain in the sequel to the Suicide Squad but Dwayne Johnson was unable to commit to the film due to his already insane shooting schedule. Right now the lead villain is set to be “Amazo”. He is an android who is able to duplicate the fighting style and skills of those he comes across.

    - The Joker origin film starring actor Joaquin Phoenix is set to be released on October 4th 2019. Production is set to begin this coming September.

    - DC unveiled the pricing for their new subscription set to launch and featuring the new “Titans” series revealed above in Video number 10. You can pre-order the service for $74.99 for a one year subscription or $7.99 a month by going to DCUniverse.com today.

    - Lies catch up to people, especially in the criminal underground. As witnessed on this week’s “Power”, the sh*t is hitting the fan on all fronts and everyone is being buried by lies. It is insane that all of these “smart” people are so f*cking dumb and messing everything up. Ghost, Tommy, Tasha, Angela, Dre, The Jiminez, Councilman Tate, Tariq. Everyone has their back against the wall with nowhere to turn. It’s crazy. Such a good season so far.

    - My heart is broken. BROKEN I TELL YOU!!! During his Comedy Central roast, actor Bruce Willis revealed that “Die Hard” is NOT a Christmas movie. I am sick to my stomach over this.

    - The CW has revealed that the “Arrow-verse” is getting a little bit bigger. It was revealed during the CW Television upfronts that Kate Kane a.k.a. Batwoman will have an arc on Arrow this pending season. Well it has since been revealed that they are currently casting an actress for the role and that the role will in fact turn into a Batwoman spinoff series. The show will feature TV’s first gay lead superhero as Batwoman is NOT bi-sexual like Sarah Lance a.k.a. White Canary and they are actually looking for a lesbian actress to fill the role. The character will be introduced in the annual Arrow/The Flash/Supergirl/Legends of Tomorrow crossover event.
