T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #404

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I don’t normally request much but as some of you who follow me on social media may know, I have a 7 year old cousin who is currently battling an aggressive form of cancer called neuroblastoma which effects 700 kids annually in the United States. He is a warrior who is fighting this with more strength than adults show. If possible, can you please take the time to donate to help him and his parents financially through this battle. If not, I understand. At least take a minute to copy the link from here and post it on your social media. Perhaps one of your friends or family members would be willing to donate. No set amount being asked for. Whatever you can afford. As little as $1 if that is all you can contribute. Everything helps. As of now, they are responsible for only 20% of his medical bills to date. That may not seem like a lot but when his year to date bills have already surpassed $1,000,000 and they owe 20% of that, well you get the picture. So please, if you can. Thanks.

BONUS MATT NOTE: Super tough week for the entertainment world as famed horror genre director George Romero passed away as well as academy award winning actor Martin Landau. Huge blows to the film universe. Also an R.I.P. goes out to Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park. He committed suicide at age 41. That is tough for me because Hybrid Theory and Meteroa are probably my favorite non-hip-hop albums EVER.

Also, Wednesday was James Guttman's 40th birthday. I didn't mention it because I'm a dipstick. Luckily JG edits and posts my columns. WWE NEWS AND NOTES:

- In the HOLY SH*T/WHAT THE F*CK section of the week, Shane McMahon was involved in a HELICOPTER CRASH on Wednesday in New York. His helicopter which was shuttling him from Westchester County Airport to his family’s home in South Hampton NY suffered an engine malfunction and the pilot landed the chopper in the Atlantic Ocean. They were both unharmed and rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard.

- WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar has allegedly entered his name BACK in the United States Anti-Doping Association pool. That means that he is toying with the idea of fighting again in the UFC.

- Chad Gable’s Tweet said it all. At 10:07 pm ET on Monday, Gable tweeted: “Um…what?” and I think that solidifies all of our opinions on the reveal that Jason Jordan is Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son. Look, I am all for Jordan getting a push. He has a good look and is solid in the ring (although Gable is better) but this is crap and everyone knows it. I will play along because we have had all sorts of people not being really related like Edge and Christian and Undertaker and Kane or even Mr. McMahon and Hornswoggle. I just hope that Jordan gets the push he deserves and is ready for. I don’t want him being buried in 6 months and then teaming with Heath Slater in 18 months as part of 3MB version 2.

- Did I miss something? I swore Ambrose and Rollins have teamed since the breakup of the Shield. I know Rollins and Reigns have and Reigns was cool with it. So why is Ambrose being such a d*ck about it? Besides, I don’t get this Shield build up unless it leads to Roman teaming with them as well against Miz and his Miztourage at Summerslam. If it is just going to be a tag match then who cares? I want to see all three of them reunite.

- After making Bayley into an afterthought in the Women’s division, someone realized that having her be a jobber isn’t good for storylines if they need to put her in the title picture. So she has beaten Alexa Bliss two times on consecutive RAW’s. Sadly, they wouldn’t have had to do that if they kept her reasonably strong instead of making her a joke.

- By the way, she is totally not over anymore as she was when she debuted. Such a shame as she could really be special in the division and for WWE due to the connection she had with the crowd.

- Can anyone explain how having a kid in college that he legit didn’t know about would threaten Angle’s WWE career? I mean, Angle DID say that when Graves first broke the news to him.

- So Titus O’Neal is now a babyface? Where the f*ck did that come from? The only explanation I can think of is that Titus is just going to become a monster that kills all the cruiserweights.

- I cannot be the only person who skips the 205 Live match each week on RAW can I? I completely have ZERO interest in them. You can’t get invested in anything when it goes a minute and a half to two minutes. And I don’t have the time to watch the weekly show with all that I do already.

- Glad they did stop re-taping the ropes to purple each week and realized how stupid that was and how much of a waste of time it was.

- Anyone else agree with my “poor Enzo” comments now? He talks endless amounts of sh*t, never does anything to back up his statements and is treated like a complete and total goof by his peers before getting laid out each and every week. The polar opposite of tough guy. He is Santino 2017.

- Credit where it’s due though, he did get the fans to use the catchphrase “Casshole”. Problem is, Cass isn’t good enough yet to get over on his own so when he eventually turns babyface again, if the fans feel he is forced down our throats ala Roman Reigns or John Cena, they are still going to chant that at him which is NOT what they are going to want.

- I pray to the gods above that Finn Balor did NOT get a concussion from the guitar shot from Elias Sampson. That would suck.

- Also, is Sampson no longer being called “The Drifter”? I haven’t been paying attention to the commentary when he comes out.

- I have a feeling that the one f*cking feud that Bray Wyatt wins will be against Finn Balor. That sucks since Balor deserves to be higher on the food chain that Wyatt. But he is due for a win. If he doesn’t win the feud, then Wyatt is useless.

- On another note, am I the only one that noticed that Wyatt out on some pounds?

- The Revival are so awesome as a tag team. I wish WWE would revive the tag team division. Good tag teams rule.

- Samoa Joe has made the best of his situation and is really shining in his spot. I wonder if Vince or anyone else in power that pushed AGAINST both Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles in past years are kicking themselves now by watching them? You’d have to think that there was some regrets that they didn’t get them sooner no?

- I don’t know what else it will take to get people to join me on the Braun Strowman bandwagon because he is so f*cking awesome. The pop he got when he came out during Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns was great. Having him lay out both Joe and Reigns was even greater. He is a babyface even though they still want him to be a heel. Funny how that works huh? Push someone as a monster and people buy into it. They have to be making it into a 4 way at Summerslam for the title no? I can’t see Strowman getting pushed out of the match if he has been so dominant so far.

- The tag team scene as noted above would have been so much better if all the champions were able to float across brands. I feel like having the Usos feud with the New Day is already getting stale and then once it is over then what? There are no tag teams on Smackdown that are credible.

- It is amazing to me that RAW has the better overall women wrestlers on the roster yet Smackdown has the more compelling Women’s division. How does that work?

- It is so sucky that Chad Gable is absolutely going to get lost in the shuffle despite his ability.

- The in-ring debut of Mike Kanellis on TV and he gets 2 minutes. SMH.

- I do like the Mike and Maria pairing on a national stage though. They are awesome.

- It sucks that they are going to serve Rusev to Cena. Rusev needs the win and push more. Cena is awesome though. You can really see the difference in star power when Cena is on a show as opposed to when he isn’t.

- I really want Styles vs. Nakamura at Mania and Styles vs. Cena at Summerslam. That would be amazing. I admittedly am curious about a 3-way as well.

- So who is going to be the ones messing with the Fashion Police? Honestly, who would have thought that anyone would care about this angle? I am into it. Kudos to Fandango and Breeze for making it entertaining.

- Was the Nakamura/Styles vs. Owens/Corbin match on Smackdown the best Baron Corbin match to date? I think it was. Possibly the best Nakamura match on Smackdown to date as well.

- Where the hell has Luke Harper been?

- Primo Colon has to undergo knee surgery and will be out of action for 6 months. So the rumors of them requesting their release seem to be just that.

- The Hardy’s have not finalized their deal with Global Force Wrestling yet despite the tease of them being “Broken” a few weeks ago. A source noted that they were close to a deal which included Reby Hardy having to pay GFW each time they were disparaged by her on Twitter however GFW decided to back out as they wanted 50% of all revenue for all merchandise sold by the use of the gimmick. Both sides are still negotiating.

- As noted by James Bullock last week, “Talking Smack” was cancelled from being a weekly show on the WWE Network due to Vince McMahon not liking the “shoot” nature of the show. What is made worse however is that both hosts Daniel Bryan and Renee Young found out about it via social media instead of through WWE.

- In a classy move that I hopes makes it to television/the Network, Triple H paid tribute to Sara Amato (Sara Del Rey) at the Mae Young Classic by presenting her with flowers and crediting her with starting the Women’s Revolution in WWE.

- Speaking of the Mae Young Classic, the finals are already set. I won’t spoil it but I am pleased with how the tournament went and was pleasantly surprised that Mercedes Martinez was announced for it because she honestly should have been in the company for YEARS now. If Sara Del Rey was once the number 1 female independent wrestler years ago, Martinez was 1b.

- During the tapings for the classic, an angle was teased between the WWE 4 Horsewomen and the MMA 4 Horsewomen when Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Bayley who were sitting ringside was taunted by Shayna Baszler when Shayna put up the 4 fingers in Charlotte’s face causing a shouting match between the WWE ladies and Rousey, Marina Shafir (real life wife of NXT’s Roderick Strong and Ronda Rousey’s best friend) and UFC’s Jessamyn Duke. Sasha Banks was not there as she was on a WWE promotional tour of Australia. I cannot imagine that they would randomly do something like this with no pay off eventually so I fully expect either Baszler to be signed and wrestle one of them with the other 3 in the corner or an eventual 4 on 4 match that obviously would take place at Wrestlemania if Rousey was involved.

- In the “Where have I been” category, apparently Rachael Ellering is dating Kassius Ohno. Good for them. She is in the Mae Young Classic along with Johnny Gargano’s wife Candice LaRae and Ricochet/Prince Puma’s girlfriend and daughter of WWE Hall of Famer, Tessa Blanchard.

- WWE is working an angle between Becky Lynch and UFC Star Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. My mind is completely blown right now that anyone in WWE things that “Cyborg” is a name for WWE fans. Ronda Rousey, despite her terrible end to her MMA career is still by far a bigger named star than Cyborg is. Lynch does train MMA in her free time and is currently dating UFC fighter Luke Sanders.

- Congrats to Mark Henry as he noted in the latest episode of “Table for 3” on the WWE Network with Ron Simmons and Charles “Godfather” Wright that he was transitioning from a talent contract to an employee contract soon. So he will be officially retired from WWE and working behind the scenes in some capacity.

- The Paige situation has just gotten more interesting as the Orlando Police Department have noted that they believe that Paige was the one who instigated the incident and the States Attorney is considering pressing charges against her. Should they press charges, the WWE has a domestic abuse policy which is an automatic suspension upon being charged and an automatic dismissal should she be convicted. That would essentially free her up to leave the promotion and go to GFW should they want her, which I am assuming they do. The odds are not in her favor as there are hundreds of cameras in Orlando airport and I assume that one captured the incident.

- Former Ring of Honor member Donovan Dijak confirmed that he is wrapping up his independent dates soon. This is due to him signing a WWE contract and he will be joining the WWE Performance Center.

- Brian Pillman Jr. is currently training for a wrestling career at Ohio Valley Wrestling.

- For those of you in Canada, Brock Lesnar has been confirmed for the September 30th Live Event in Winnipeg.

- “Talking Smack” will return on Sunday following Battleground with Renee Young returning as host alongside Jerry “The King” Lawler. The show will only air after PPV events following it’s cancellation last week by WWE.

- In what is not so good news to hear, Matt Cappotelli revealed that while the surgery to remove part of his returning brain tumor was successful, once removed, it was revealed to him that it was Grade IV GiloBastoma Multiforme which is EXTREMELY resistant to treatments and spreads throughout the body very fast. In short, the outlook is grim.

WWE BATTLEGROUND PPV is on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 from Philadelphia Pennsylvania and the line-up is as follows:

  • WWE TITLE MATCH: Jinder Mahal © w/The Singh Brothers vs. Randy Orton IN A PUNJABI PRISON MATCH
  • WWE U.S. TITLE: Kevin Owens © vs. A.J. Styles
  • FLAG MATCH: John Cena vs. Rusev
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Baron Corbin
  • WWE TAG TEAM TITLES: The Usos © (Jimmy & Jey Uso) vs. The New Day (Xavier Woods/Kofi Kingston/Big E)
  • #1 CONTENDER’S ELIMINATION MATCH: Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Tamina vs. Lana
  • Sami Zayn vs. Mike Kanellis w/Maria Kanellis
  • Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English
  • NXT TAKEOVER BROOKLYN is on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 from Brooklyn New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • NXT TITLE: Bobby Roode © vs. Drew McIntyre
  • NXT WOMEN’S TITLE: Asuka © vs. Ember Moon
  • NXT TAG TEAM TITLES: The Authors of Pain © w/Paul Ellering vs. SanITY
  • Hideo Itami vs. Kassius Ohno

    - As always, I give credit where credit is due. Impact’s ratings have slightly risen the last several weeks. Inching and inching higher and higher. Hopefully they can keep up that pace and keep the easy to follow storylines and finishes. The show isn’t that bad. Yes, it is lacking the star power of TNA’s past but in order to rebuild, you have to create new stars that can go in the ring rather than named stars from yesteryear that only contribute to backstage chaos.

    - GFW has expressed interest in Rey Mysterio. Mysterio is currently under contract to Lucha Underground but that deal expires at the end of this current television season. He will then be set to go wherever he’d like. Mysterio was in Nashville earlier this week with friend Konnan at the GFW Headquarters. He has also unofficially spoken with WWE.

    - Apparently John Morrison a.k.a. Johnny Mundo is set to debut at the next tapings in August. He is done with AAA due to their handling of his fiancé Taya and how she was stripped of her title. It is interesting because Morrison currently holds 3 titles in AAA as he is their Heavyweight Champion, Cruiserweight Champion and Latin American Champion. They are likely going to have to strip him of all three titles since it is unlikely he will come back and drop them in the ring considering how his fiancée was treated.

    - Nick “Magnus” Aldis is no longer with GFW. His appearances early on during the transition from TNA to GFW were on a handshake agreement as he felt it was best to “do business” and assist in unifying the championships since he was GFW Champion.

    - The State’s Attorney’s office in Florida is investigating the Alberto El Patron/Paige incident from the airport last week and is considering filing charges against Paige. The Orlando Police department notified the States Attorney that their investigation revealed that they believe they have enough information to charge Paige with Domestic Assault.

    - I am dumbstruck to see that all new GFW contracts include them receiving 10% of all money received for working independent dates as well as 100% of all merchandise sold directly by the company (i.e. through their website/at live events).

Ring of Honor / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - ROH has announced a partial line-up for the “War of the Worlds U.K.” PPV event with KUSHIDA defending the ROH TV title in a four way elimination match against Dalton Castle, Marty Scurll and Hiromu Takahashi. The main event of the show will feature Cody defending the ROH title against SANADA.

    - CMLL is pressuring ROH to not allow their contracted talent to work for The Crash in Mexico.

-WAW in the U.K. (the promotion owned by The Knight family i.e. Paige’s family) has announced that they along with Alberto El Patron have mutually decided to part ways and he has been relinquished of their world title. El Patron also lost bookings with the Pro Wrestling Elite promotion in the U.K. as they noted they were no longer going to work with him. This likely stems from the comments made by Paige’s brothers about him abusing her physically.

    - Will Ospreay vs. Rey Mysterio will take place for the 1st time ever for What Culture on August 23rd.

    - Lio Rush finishes up his independent dates on August 12th at MCW in Maryland where he debuted. He is set to debut shortly thereafter at the WWE Performance Center. It is amazing to me that he has only been in the business for 3 years and has gotten as good as he is.

    - Formerly Simon Gotch of WWE is free to begin taking independent dates as his no compete clause with WWE has expired.

    - Former TNA star Petey Williams made his return to wrestling last weekend in Michigan against the one legged former WWE star Zack Gowen. Williams had retired from wrestling back in 2014.

    - With the success of the Bullet Club shirts selling like hotcakes in Hot Topic, Hot Topic has secured a deal with New Japan to sell NJPW shirts as well as shirts for Los Ingobernales de Japan starting in August.

    - Kenny Omega is making his long awaited return to PWG for day 2 of the “BOLA”. He is NOT in the tournament though. Will just be wrestling in a match teaming with the Young Bucks against Penta El Zero M, Flamita and Rey Fenix.

    - The BOLA Night One and Night Two are as follows:

  • Flamita vs. Ricochet,/li>
  • Jonah Rock vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • Matt Sydal vs. Penta El Zero M
  • Flash Morgan Webster vs. Marty Scurll
  • Rey Fenix vs. Rey Horus
  • Brian Cage vs. Dezmond Xavier

  • Keith Lee vs. WALTER
  • Mark Haskins vs. Travis Banks
  • Matt Riddle vs. Michael Elgin
  • Jeff Cobb vs. Sami Callihan
  • Donovan Dijak vs. Trevor Lee
  • Sammy Guevara vs. TK Cooper
  • MMA News and Notes:

    - Brock Lesnar has allegedly submitted his name into the USADA Drug Testing Pool. Being that Lesnar “retired” in February during his drug suspension, that means Lesnar will need an additional 5 months of clean drug tests before he could be eligible to have his suspension lifted. While there are some rumors that Lesnar was looking to fight on November 4th at UFC’s show from Madison Square Garden, that would be virtually impossible based on his drug test suspension which took place on July 9, 2016. That means the earliest he would be cleared to fight would be November 9th and ONLY if he has submitted his name back to USADA. According to Jeff Novitsky of UFC, as of July 19th Lesnar has NOT submitted his name yet meaning it is unlikely that he will be able to fight before year end unless he submits it soon.

    - Conor McGregor did it!!! Odds for him vs. Mayweather are now down to 3-1 meaning that people think he has a shot and betting on him is going through the roof. It is now to the point where Vegas says that they expect more action on this fight then the Super Bowl which is insane and if Conor wins, Vegas is going to take a huge hit financially.

    - By the way, Conor defended himself against the racist accusations leveled against him by noting that he is half black. The half from the waist down. Boom.

    - The Showtime 24/7 specials to hype Mayweather vs. McGregor begins next Friday, July 28th.

    - UFC 213 apparently is coming in at 130,000 PPV buys which would be the lowest for a PPV since 2006. OUCH.

    - Bellator didn’t do much better as their show at Madison Square Garden headlined by Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva, despite Scott Coker’s claims, drew 95,000 PPV buys. Coker claimed that they were hovering around 200,000.

    - UFC hopes to rebound off that abysmal number next weekend with a stacked card headlines by Daniel Cormier defending the UFC Light Heavyweight Title against Jon Jones as well as two other title matches. The problem is, as good as the card is on paper, and it is damn good; is that Mayweather vs. McGregor is crushing all publicity for it as far as media coverage goes. So an easy 1.3 million buy PPV may not break a million since people are going to be saving for Floyd/Conor 4 weeks later.

    - Sage Northcutt vs. John Makdessi is OFF of next week’s UFC 214 show as BOTH men were injured in training. No reschedule date has been set.

    - Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje will be the coaches for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. The season will be built around the crowning of the new UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship. Gaethje is coming off the FIGHT OF THE YEAR in UFC vs. Michael Johnson.

    - Speaking of fights of the year, check out Bellator’s Derek Campos vs. Brandon Girtz fight from Bellator last week. If you are a fan of guys murdering each other, this is probably the fight of the year. If you are NOT a fan of blood baths, then you may want to skip this one. Girtz had one of the sickest gashes on his head EVER in combat sports. So much so that the fight had to be stopped because of fear or possible nerve damage as you could practically see his skull.

    - Despite signing with Bellator, Gegard Mousasi will NOT be getting a shot at the middleweight title until 2018 as champ Rafael Carvalho signed to defend his title on December 9th. Mousasi will debut on October 20th vs. Alexander Shlemenko at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut.

    - After realizing that taking things public wasn’t the best idea, Demetrious Johnson revealed that all of his issues with UFC President Dana White was a big misunderstanding and that they are going to sit down soon to hash it all out. The thing is, making a public spectacle of a situation DOES NOT WORK if you are in UFC. Look at Conor McGregor. He tried it last year and LOST and was pulled from the biggest show of the year and replaced by Brock Lesnar. If Conor can’t pull it off, why would Demetrious Johnson be able to?

    - Alberto El Patron has stepped down from his role as President of Combate Americas. Campbell McClaren, CEO of Combate noted that El Patron notified him that wrestling was his first love/passion and that he wants to focus 100% on it.

UFC ON FOX is TOMORROW NIGHT from Long Island New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • Chris Weidman vs. Kelvin Gastelum
  • Dennis Bermudez vs. Darren Elkins
  • Patrick Cummings vs. Gian Villante
  • Jimmie Rivera vs. Thomas Almeida
  • UFC 214 is on Saturday, July 29th, 2017 from Anaheim California and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Daniel Cormier © vs. Jon Jones
  • UFC WELTERWEIGHT TITLE: Tyrone Woodley © vs. Demian Maia
  • UFC WOMEN’S FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE: Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino vs. Tonya Evinger
  • Robbie Lawler vs. Donald Cerrone
  • Jim Manuwa vs. Volkan Oezdemir
  • Chan Sung Jung a.k.a The Korean Zombie vs. Ricardo Lamas
  • Renan Barao vs. Aljamain Sterling
  • UFC 215 is on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 from Edmonton Alberta Canada and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC FLYWEIGHT TITLE: Demetrious Johnson © vs. Ray Borg
  • UFC WOMEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE: Amanda Nunes © vs. Valentina Shevchenko
  • Junior Dos Santos vs. Francis Ngannou
  • Gilbert Melendez vs. Jeremy Stephens
  • Henry Cejudo vs. Wilson Reis

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: So this happened this morning. Wow.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 1: How does this STILL happen? In 2017?

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: I LOL’D.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: I am completely torn on this story. First off, the cop was 100% wrong and should get what is coming to him. My issue is however the same as every other minority in the U.S. if she wasn’t white would there be as big of an outcry? Yes there still would be rallies/marches, etc. but I do not see any conflicting arguments defending the police officer. Now let’s take the same situation but make it a black woman.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 4: Nothing like the age of social media. You know, where people would rather film a man dying so they can post it online rather than save a life.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 5: Tragic. I can’t imagine what they are going through as parents. But in all honesty, not to point fingers but why didn’t they take him into the house or leave him strapped in the car while they unpacked? I know I do.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 6: New York…..I really hate it.

    - AMC has confirmed that “The Walking Dead” makes its return on October 22nd.

    - “Spider-Man: Homecoming” was f*cking fantastic and was exactly how Spider-Man should have always been portrayed. Don’t get me wrong, I was cool with Tobey McGuire at the time but Tom Holland is EXACTLY Peter Parker. As for Andrew Garfield, don’t get me started on that guy and his terrible “EMO Peter Parker” because he was godawful and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” was a steaming pile of horsesh*t.

    - Avengers: Infinity War has wrapped production and at the D23 event in Los Angeles, the first teaser was revealed. The teaser will likely be revealed to the public this weekend during the San Diego Comic Con so hopefully will be posted in this column next week. From the description of those who were there, MINOR SPOILER ALERT: but Thor meets the GOTG and we see footage of the hair on Peter Parker’s arm’s standing up i.e. Spider-sense debuting. We also see Thanos pulling A MOON OUT OF THE SKY, Loki and others. The description sounds AMAZING.

    - For those wondering if Thanos would have a nameless group of villains like the Chitari in Infinity War, he WON’T. He will have villains however as it was revealed that Thanos’ “Black Order” a.k.a. “The Children of Thanos” will be by his side. We already know that both Gamora and Nebula from “Guardians of the Galaxy” are children of Thanos but he has more. In Infinity War, we will be introduced to Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian.

    - Fantastic casting news for “Ant Man & Wasp” as actor Walton Goggins has been named to the cast. Hopefully he plays an awesome villain.

    - Marvel has cast actress Milana Vayntrub for the role of Squirrel Girl for their “New Warriors” show on Freeform set to debut next year.

    - Marvel’s Hulu series “The Runaways” is set to debut on November 21st.

    - Tonight is the “Defenders” panel at Comic Conn in San Diego so we can expect some details, surprises and possibly a new trailer reveal.

    - Tomorrow will be the WB panel with both casts of “Justice League” and “Aquaman” taking the stage in the morning. Marvel Studios takes the stage in the evening and we are going to get the official reveal of the “Avengers: Infinity War” trailer. Rumor is floating that it will debut online shortly after it debuts at Comic Con.

    - The strong rumor coming out of comic con so far is that Ben Affleck will NOT be wearing the Batman suit for the solo Batman film he was once set to write and direct. He is going to be ushered out of the role following Justice League. No word on whether they plan on recasting Bruce Wayne or if Affleck will pass the mantle to Nightwing for the future. Also since Affleck’s script is gone, they are rewriting the story and they could do a prequel without Affleck and claim he is a younger Bruce Wayne.

    - In an effort to NEVER lose the rights to the Fantastic Four, 20th Century Fox revealed earlier this week that they are currently working on a “Dr. Doom” film. Yes, not a FF film, but a Dr. Doom standalone film. WTF?

    - Over at Warner Brothers, they continue to do the baffling when running their DC Properties. Apparently production on their “Shazam” film is set to officially begin in February 2018. When the project was officially announced, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was attached to play the villain of the movie, Black Adam. Well now with production set, Johnson will NOT be appearing AT ALL in the movie. Um……what?

    - Power had another damn good episode in the books this week. Tommy cancelling Christmas on the Homeland guy is going to cause problems. I also think that he is the dude in jail’s son. That’s just a theory. Damn good stuff though. P.S. Keisha (Lala’s) rack though. Yum.

    - I’m not a fan of the show so I don’t really care but Dr. Who now has its first female doctor in actress Jodie Whittaker.

    - Ryan Seacrest confirmed that he has been tapped to be the host of the ABC reboot of American Idol.
