T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #415

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I am hoping that you readers have taken the time to lend a hand and donated to the JAIDAN STRONG cause for me. I’d really appreciate it if you did; as little as $5 can go a long way. If not, it isn’t a big deal but please at least SHARE THE LINK. I get that finances can be tough for some but taking the time to share a link via your social media doesn’t cost a dime. I’d appreciate it greatly as one of your friends or family members may be able to help out. Thanks.

BONUS MATT NOTE: R.I.P. to legendary Memphis announcer Lance Russell as he passed away on Tuesday at age 91. It will forever be a shame that he was NOT allowed to induct Jerry “The King” Lawler into the WWE Hall of Fame. Lawler had made the request for him to be the one to induct him but WWE officials i.e. Vince felt Russell was not known outside of Memphis and that a “name” like William Shatner would be better. Russell fell and broke his hip last Friday after finding out about the passing of his daughter from cancer. He never recovered from the injury and died from complications.

BONUS MATT NOTE: R.I.P. also goes out to musical icon Tom Petty who passed away on Monday from cardiac arrest at age 66.

- Just as a preface, it is a real f*cking shame that Smackdown Live did not even show a graphic or make a mention of Lance Russell’s passing yet IMPACT had one.

- With a PPV coming on Sunday that is all but guaranteed by Kevin Owens to have some sort of incredible death defying stunt take place and RAW teasing the reunion of one of the most popular stables in WWE history of the Shield, it is amazing that this week NXT captured the attention of the hardcore audience by announcing that at NXT Takeover: Houston on November 18th, The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong will face off against SAnitY and The Undisputed Era in a 3 way WAR GAMES MATCH. Yes, they will be using 2 rings covered in a cage as the traditional War Games did. Triple H finally gets his wish as he has been lobbying for this match for YEARS ever since WWE purchased WCW as he wanted to participate in one. He has pitched for Evolution to have one back when they were in their prime and even pitched for Evolution and someone else to battle against the Shield and some partners a few years ago. Alas, he was always denied by Vince McMahon at every turn as it was not a WWE creation therefore despite owning the rights to it and guaranteed to draw viewers to it; it was not going to happen. With NXT being Triple H’s baby, now it will finally happen under a WWE banner. The last War Games match took place in WCW back in 1998.

- RAW was an ok show this week built around the reunion of the Shield which will take place next week on RAW. Smackdown, as a “go home” show for a PPV was pretty weak. EXTREMELY weak honestly other than the Kevin Owens/Shane McMahon build which is now a “falls count anywhere” Hell in a Cell match that kind of defeats the purpose of being “in a cell”. Especially when as I have noted, the entire Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match has been built around the Singh Brothers interfering and yet ISN’T in a cell to prevent that from happening.

- Very much happy with the fact that WWE is going ahead with Sheamus and Cesaro getting mixed into the Shield debut rather than Axel and Dallas. Sucks for them because they could have used the exposure.

- The Shield debuted in Indianapolis Indiana. Seth Rollins turned on the Shield on Raw in Indianapolis Indiana. Next week’s RAW….in Indianapolis Indiana. Good long term booking by WWE!!!!!

- Remember when Mickie James was with the company years ago and before they released her, they made a bunch of fat jokes being led by Vickie Guerrero of all people calling her Miss Piggy. Well now that at age 38 she is in incredible shape compared to her last WWE run, they are now doing a gimmick where she is “OLD” SMH. In total honesty only a handful of fans know how old wrestlers are since it isn’t commonly mentioned so why call people old? John Cena just had a feud with Roman Reigns and kept talking about how he is “old” even though he is only 40 meanwhile no one ever dropped the old title for HHH or Taker or Flair or even Hogan during his last run. I wonder if the Rock comes back they will build around him being “old”.

- Did they ever explain why Nia Jax is friends with Alexa Bliss again? Did I miss it? Also, does Jax no longer want Bliss’ title?

- Talk about running in place, Matt Hardy and Jason Jordan are a team now with Jeff gone? When is “Broken/Awoken” Matt coming? Hopefully soon.

- By the way, why does Booker T keep referencing Jordan “getting all his moves in”? Is this a rib on him for something? Or is WWE “shooting” on someone outside the company? Coughyoungbuckscough.

- Fantastic job at building to Asuka’s debut. Hopefully she is pushed correctly like she was in NXT.

- The Enzo Amore “burial” continues and I am amazed by it because as hard as WWE is working to bury him dead, he is still managing to stay over as a HEEL and get genuine heel heat and pulling some cheers out of it. It is fascinating to watch. What makes matters 100 times funnier and better is that Enzo seems to not give a flying f*ck as to what WWE is trying to do to him and instead is turning lemons into a goddamn lemonade distribution plant that sells lemonade by the gallon. He continues to sh*t all over the genuine backstage heat that he has by carrying himself like the biggest star in the history of pro wrestling. He has been spotted walking around Los Angeles where he is currently spending 90% of his time outside WWE while walking the streets with the Cruiserweight Title strapped to his waist. Amazing man. His show closing promo was INCREDIBLE.

- “Sister Abigail” is set to debut at TLC against Finn Balor. For those wondering, Sister Abigail will be Bray Wyatt with a new look/outfit. Yes, I know exactly how that sounds. SMH.

- As witnessed on RAW, Michael Cole missed the show for only the 2nd time in his 20 year career to attend his son’s wedding. I mean congrats to his son but not for nothing, how the hell do you plan a Monday wedding when you know what your dad does for a living? Jesus H. Christ, he has only had to work every Monday for the last 2 decades dude. Planning a wedding takes at least a year, you knew you were getting married and you still chose Monday? SMH.

- Also missing a show for the first time was Triple H as he missed his first ever NXT taping due to traveling to India to promote the upcoming tour in December.

- Can anyone tell me why in the world did Charlotte tap clean to Nattie in a tag match when she is fighting for the title on Sunday?

- Can anyone tell me why Baron Corbin lost clean to Tye Dillinger when he is fighting A.J. for the U.S. title on Sunday?

- Can anyone tell me why Shane McMahon called out Kevin Owens only for Owens to wipe the floor with him when he is out to get revenge on Owens on Sunday?

- Poor Mike Kanellis. WWE really should take the opportunity with Maria gone for the next year to move him to NXT to get a push and work there. He is only going to be buried beyond belief on the main roster and nothing will salvage that if he sticks around. Especially since the only reason he went straight to the main roster was due to being married to Maria. Hold him in NXT and when she is back, bring him back.

- Really weird that they tried to push Kevin Owens as a bad monster when he is like this and in this mindset yet they had Sami Zayn talking to Shane backstage over it when Owens “destroyed” Zayn the week before. Would have been more effective to NOT have Zayn on the show and instead selling the beatdown from last week no? Then it is made worse when Owens destroyed Shane in the main event segment and they just showed Zayn before and he doesn’t come out to help Shane or get revenge for his beating from a week ago. SMH. Continuity people, it isn’t that difficult.

- Brock Lesnar worked a WWE live event in Winnipeg last weekend defending the title against Sheamus. It was the usual Brock Lesnar house show match with him suplexing Sheamus around before finishing him with an F-5.

- Contrary to the original plan, Lesnar IS in fact expected back for the Survivor Series PPV in November. He is booked for the event and the TV leading up to it. No word on his opponent but the original plan was for Finn Balor to face Lesnar for the title.

- WWE officially confirmed that they have signed Shayna Baszler. She signed a few weeks ago as noted here in this column. She has already quietly moved from her home in Los Angeles to Orlando Florida

- Bayley has once again in an interview discussed the possibility of turning heel. My mind is blown with this and I cannot fathom why in the world would she think this is a good idea. Yes, she isn’t getting the reaction she used to nor the reaction she should be getting but unless she has this switch inside her that will somehow make her into the 2nd coming of Ric Flair in his prime as a character, she will NEVER pull it off and if you ask Steve Austin how it is to turn heel inexplicably when fans still want to cheer you, he can tell you it isn’t a good idea. He, the biggest box office draw in wrestling history, never recovered from it so why would she?

- Kurt Angle revealed in an interview last weekend that he is in the WWE drug testing protocol despite not being an active wrestler however he still has NOT been asked to complete a physical to return to the ring yet. He expects that he will wrestle again. He is just not sure when. He is interested in working against everyone on top upon his return. He name dropped HHH, Cena, Lesnar, Orton, Reigns, Ambrose, Rollins, Cesaro, Sheamus and Rusev as potential opponents. I am very much surprised that there was no mention of Balor, Styles, Joe or Nakamura although he could have just forgotten.

- Angle also noted that he too believes Chad Gable would have been the better choice for the role of his son as Gable reminds him of him when he was younger but it was Jordan who needed more “help”. He said Jordan has a great look and is great in the ring but lacks that special something and is shy when it comes to presenting himself. So aligning him with Angle was supposed to be that extra kick he needs whereas Gable doesn’t need it.

- Jeff Hardy underwent successful rotator cuff surgery on Wednesday and will be out of action or about 8 months. He is a game time decision for Wrestlemania but it is unlikely he will be on the show.

- Connecticut Judge Vanessa Bryant is on the verge of dropping 3 more CTE cases against WWE. She noted that attorney’s for the plaintiffs have 35 days to produce sworn affidavits under penalty of perjury. If they do not produce them, those cases will be dismissed.

- Randy Orton was on the Edge and Christian podcast last week and discussed physiques in wrestling. He mentioned Kevin Owens and noted: “He started fat and he'll finish fat," Orton said. "He's trying to get himself over as the fat guy that can fight. Bless his heart. That's great. I'm jealous.” Orton referenced that by then following up noting that he wants to become a heel again as he can let himself go because as a babyface he has to maintain a certain look and at his age with his body as beat up as it is and his metabolism getting slower, he has to work harder to keep his appearance, he much rather not have to diet as hard and work out as much. He said he would love to be a full time Wyatt Family member and wrestle in jeans and a shirt so that his body is covered up so he can get away with slacking. He also said he doesn’t want to ever work another European tour again because it is two weeks away from his family and that is far too long but he has to do them with Cena not around.

- WWE confirmed their Raw tour of India in December. It will be December 8th and 9th and Smackdown WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers will be joining the tour for the shows.

- Shane McMahon filed a lawsuit against Enviro Grow which is medicinal marijuana. Shane was an investor in the company and is claiming he was duped out of $500,000 as he has not seen a dime of his investment.

- Yesterday was the 20th Anniversary of the death of Brian Pillman. WOW. 20 years already. It is such a shame he didn’t get to have the top run in WWE like he could have if he wasn’t injured. “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin would have drawn MONEY.

- WB has passed on WWE Star John Cena for the role of “Shazam” in the upcoming film of the same name. It was extremely noteworthy because the WB cinematic universe has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson playing Shazam’s #1 villain/nemesis Black Adam. Black Adam is not expected to appear in the Shazam film but is in the WB/DCU.

- Nothing has changed with the Ric Flair ESPN “30 for 30” piece on his life and career. It is expected to still debut on November 7th on ESPN. No new footage has been released although I am sure they will add a bumper regarding his latest health issues at the end of the show.

WWE “HELL IN A CELL” PPV is THIS SUNDAY from Detroit Michigan and the line-up is as follows:

  • WWE TITLE: Jinder Mahal © w/The Singh Brothers vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon IN HELL IN A CELL
  • WWE SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S TITLE: Natalya © vs. Charlotte
  • WWE TAG TEAM TITLES: The New Day © vs. The Usos IN HELL IN A CELL
  • Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler
  • WWE “TLC” PPV is on Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 from Minneapolis Minnesota and the line-up is as follows:

  • The Shield (Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins/Dean Ambrose) vs. The Bar (Shamus & Cesaro) & WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz © with The Miztourage (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas)
  • WWE RAW WOMEN’S TITLE: Alexa Bliss © vs. Mickie James

    - Impact’s new plan going forward it to no longer tape shows in Orlando but instead tape several weeks of tapings in major markets such as New York, Chicago and Toronto. They do plan on selling tickets for these tapings as opposed to Orlando where they were free. Running shows in Chicago and New York will be costly but in the past they ran a night or two. Instead they will NOT be running a major arena but instead smaller buildings for multiple nights.

    - The “Global Force Wrestling” Network that they were going to launch as a streaming platform that inadvertently launched early, is still not active.

    - Billy Corgan revealed that he has been in contact with Ed Nordholm of Anthem about possibly working with the NWA and Impact in the future. I am flabbergasted as to how Corgan would be willing to work with them after all the have been through but he noted that it is water under the bridge and he and Nordholm have no hard feelings for what went down.

    - Impact is interested in bringing in Sami Callihan. WE really missed the boat with him by saddling him with an awful gimmick and not using him to his potential.

    - Robbie E has been officially released from Impact Wrestling. He had still been under conrtact despite not being used.

    - Eddie Kingston is also gone from the promotion. That is a total “what the f*ck” moment in my book because his being there was a complete and utter waste of time and waste of his talent. Mind blown as to why he wasn’t put in LAX as he fit the group and him and Homicide would have been an excellent team/duo.

    - Impact was scouting NOAH last week in Japan with Ed Nordholm, Jeremy Borash and Scott D’Amore at shows checking out talent. Eli Drake was defending the Impact title on the show against Cody Hall (Scott Hall’s son)

    - WrestlePro, which is one of the most professionally run independent promotions in the U.S. is allowing Impact to tape some matches on their December 9th show.

    - Despite ZERO promotion to date for it, Impact does in fact plan on inducting someone into the Hall of Fame at “Bound For Glory” this year. The internal talk has been that they are inducting James Storm as he has been with the company since DAY ONE.

    - Props to Impact for having a Lance Russell in memoriam graphic to start their show this week.

Ring of Honor / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - So Minoru Suzuki doesn’t wrestling in the United States in 25 years, comes to ROH to have a ROH Title match with Cody and now we can’t get rid of him. ROH announced that Suzuki will be part of all 4 “Global Wars” events next month from October 12th through October 15th.

    - The Global Wars Chicago show with Kenny Omega as the main event will be streamed by ROH on iPPV.

    - KUSHIDA will be getting an ROH Title match against Cody on October 14th in Columbus Ohio.

    - ROH is going all out this year for their Wrestlemania weekend “Supercard of Honor” show as they fully believe that their product is white hot right now and can draw. They plan on going directly head to head with NXT during Mania weekend and have booked the UNO Lakeland Arena which seats 8,900 for basketball games. The goal is to sell 10,000 tickets to the show. That is a lofty goal considering their all-time attendance record is 3,500 tickets for last year’s Mania weekend show which featured the “Broken Hardy’s” vs. the Young Bucks in a ladder war match.

    - Brandi Rhodes and Cody will be on the upcoming season of WAGS Atlanta. WAGS stands for “Wives and Girlfriends of Sports Stars”. The original show had former WWE Diva Barbie Blank a.k.a. Kelly Kelly on it as she is married to a NHL player. Brandi, as Cody’s wife is on this season.

    - Last week I reported that the Young Bucks received a “cease and desist” letter from WWE for using the “Too Sweet” hand gesture in matches and on merchandise. Well now you can own the new Young Bucks CEASE AND DESIST T-shirt!!! These guys are f*cking amazing. LOL.

    - Although the cease and desist letter was specific to the “Too Sweet” phrase and hand gesture, the Young Bucks are no longer going to do the “suck it” gesture anymore as well.

    - What Culture Pro Wrestling in the U.K. has rebranded and is now known as “Defiant Wrestling” and has confirmed Stu Bennett a.k.a. the former Wade Barrett will be the new commissioner of the promotion.

    - Former WWE Diva Candice Michelle will be coming out of retirement to wrestle for Tommy Dreamer’s “House of Hardcore” promotion on December 2nd.

    - Tonight’s “The Crash” show in Mexico is being recorded for a television pilot. They have been doing fairly big attendance numbers in Mexico and are gaining traction as a promotion due to the quality of matches they have and angles they put on.

    - For the first time in several years, PWG did NOT sell out a show. Their October 20th show still has tickets available as of this writing. They are running a double shot so the October 21st show is in fact sold out. Due to the prices of the tickets and coming so soon after the Battle of Los Angeles show as well as being a double shot, it looks like they may have assumed that the product was hot enough to run a back to back. For those of you who do not follow PWG, they run the SAME building all the time and only fits 400 people and they do not plan on running shows on PPV or iPPV. They make their money off of the gate and the DVD sales.

    - Former WWE and TNA writer Dave Lagana will be running the day to day operations of the new Billy Corgan owned NWA. Corgan will not be able to run it day to day as it was announced that his music group “The Smashing Pumpkins” will be going on a reunion tour which started this week. It appears that Nick “Magnus” Aldis will be the face of his promotion and be built around him. His tentative plan is to sign only about 5 – 6 guys to exclusive contracts as a way to cut costs/keep them down and then use independent talent from around the globe similar to how independent promotions run. His idea is to not run a streaming service or PPV/iPPV anytime soon. He only wants to draw on live events and work on securing a television deal before moving onto those things. They plan on trying to build their audience via internet and DVDs before moving onto a television deal.

    - Aeroluxe, the company that attempted to purchase TNA at the same time as Billy Cogan that Ron and Don Harris work for is attempting to launch a Luca promotion. They plan on capitalizing where Lucha Underground messed up on by making it a primarily Hispanic show with strictly Spanish speaking as opposed to LU which catered to an English audience. They are currently casting wrestlers of Hispanic descent who are bi-lingual. They are looking at ANYONE who has wrestling experience regardless of your experience level. Reason for that is that they are not only casting for in ring talent but they are casting for those who are capable of taking bumps in a ring but not necessarily exceptional in ring performers to play characters on the show.

    - Lucha Underground has an offer from a financial backer to run another season however said backer is not even close to what Lucha Underground has been getting in the past thus meaning that they would have to scale back production and costs a significant level. Due to the type of show that LU has been putting out, the new look would be an incredible downgrade from current standards. El Rey has to make a decision within the next month however if they show is coming back or else they lose the rights to the show and they can begin shopping it around to other networks.

    MMA News and Notes:

    - Dana White announced that UFC will be donating $1,000,000 to the families of the victims of the Las Vegas shooting this week. Despite the tragedy that took place over the weekend, UFC will still run this coming Saturday from the MGM. They are not postponing or cancelling the show.

    – In what I assume was a way to placate him, UFC is giving Demetrious Johnson points for the PPV buy rate for the first time in his career. Not that it will matter much because this show is not going to be a huge draw but honestly, all of their title holders should have PPV points included in their contracts. It is only fair. His fight tomorrow however isn’t going to do gangbuster numbers so the bonus he gets won’t be significant. He is looking however to break Anderson Silva’s record of title defenses with the win. In the other main event, should Kevin Lee win the interim Lightweight title, he most certainly would face Conor McGregor early next year. Should Tony Ferguson win, he will likely fight Khabib Nurmagomedov first before unifying the titles against McGregor. The goal, which is pushing it, is for Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov in Madison Square Garden on November 4th.

    - The winner of Alistair Overeem vs. Francis Ngannou at UFC 218 in December will get the next shot at UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic. That is of course if UFC can get Miocic back to the negotiating table. Miocic has been irate against UFC since it was revealed that he was paid less than Overeem in their last fight which was a title defense in Miocic’s hometown of Cleveland last year.

    - UFC’s official exclusive negotiating period with Fox Sports has ended and while there is still a year left on their UFC contract and they are still talking to Fox despite NOT reaching a deal, UFC is now free to field offers for their television rights from other TV Networks including ESPN, Showtime, NBC, etc.

    - UFC has signed Max Holloway defending his UFC Featherweight title against Frankie Edgar for UFC 218 in Detroit on December 2nd.

    - Rafael Natal announced his retirement from MMA this week. He was on a 3 fight losing streak. His plan is to turn to coaching and resume competing in jiu-jitsu competitions.

    - Speaking of retirements, the retired Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is planning on UN-retiring. He and his team are met with Dana White this week to discuss a possible return, this time at Heavyweight.

    - UFC has announced a partnership with BodyArmor Sports Drink (by Kobe Bryant) to be the official sports drink of the promotion.

    - According to Alistair Overeem, Yoshihiro Takayama’s condition has worsened so much that he is no longer allowed visitors. How terrible is that? He is paralyzed from the shoulders down and now can no longer have family or friends around him.

    - Amanda Nunes is NOT a draw. Her PPV main event against Valentina Shevchenko drew around 100,000 PPV buys which is one of the lowest UFC PPV buyrates in years. Considering she demolished both Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate, that is a crying shame. She should be a STAR.

    - Daniel Cormier is outright insane right now as he wants to defend the UFC Light Heavyweight title against Volkhan Oezdemier. Volkhan has the potential to knock him out so ideally Cormier should try for a fight against Alexander Gustafsson first and get a solid payday.

    - MMA legend Chuck Liddell revealed that he has in fact spoken to Scott Coker about joining Bellator and fighting again, even at age 47 but Bellator has not made him an official offer yet. Chael Sonnen has been angling for the fight for some time now and that is a fight that would draw.

UFC 216 is on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • INTERIM UFC LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE: Tony Ferguson vs. Kevin Lee
  • UFC FLYWEIGHT TITLE: Demetrious Johnson © vs. Ray Borg
  • Nik Lentz vs. Will Brooks
  • Stephen Thompson vs. Jorge Masvidal
  • Fabricio Werdum vs. Derrick Lewis
  • UFC 217 is on Saturday, November 4th, 2017 from New York, New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE: Michael Bisping © vs. George St. Pierre
  • UFC BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE: Cody Garbrandt © vs. T.J. Dillashaw
  • UFC WOMEN’S STRAWWEIGHT TITLE: Joanna Jerdzejczyk © vs. Rose Namajunas
  • Johnny Hendricks vs. Paulo Borrachinha
  • Mickey Gall vs. Randy Brown
  • UFC 218 is on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 from Detroit Michigan and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC FEATHERWEIGH TITLE: Max Holloway © vs. Frankie Edgar<.li>
  • Henry Cejudo vs. Sergio Pettis
  • Alistair Overeem vs. Francis Ngannou
  • UFC 219 is on Saturday, December 30th, 2017 from Las Vegas Nevada and the line-up is as follows:

  • Dominick Cruz vs. Jimmie Rivera
  • Cynthia Cavillo vs. Carla Esparza

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: Unless you have been living in a cave with no access to TV, internet or news, then you know what the lead story this week is. The only story. The MAJOR story. I do not know how many times things like this have to happen before changes can be made. Honestly, I have said it a million times, I am ok with people owning guns. But there is a difference between owning a handgun or a shotgun to protect your home/life as opposed to owning 47+ hand guns, automatic machine guns with scopes and all the bells and whistles. This shouldn’t have happened. This should have been prevented. This was a planned and thought out attack on LIFE.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 1: He was planning it for a while. It wasn’t spur of the moment.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: Definition of human scum. Hope he dies slowly and painfully.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: So this story is pretty nuts. Wow.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 4: If you have been a longtime reader of my column you know I have definitely been following this story since DAY ONE over 3 years ago. I am glad to see it is finally going to trial and I hope that we find out the reason for such a terrible and hateful crime.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 5: A huge part of my life growing up is officially coming to an end. Sad day. So many memories. LOL.

    - The New York City Comic Con is this week and I am assuming a lot of news will be coming out of it. It was expected that the official release date of the Punisher was going to be announced as there was a “Punisher” panel with Jon Bernthal taking place tomorrow but due to the senseless shootings in Las Vegas last Sunday, that panel has been cancelled. However Netflix did announce that season 2 of “Stranger Things” is set to be released on Friday, September 13th. That was the rumored release date of “The Punisher”. The new rumored release date, which makes sense, is Friday, November 10th which coincides with Veterans Day weekend.

    - It has been revealed that Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) will be part of the cast of Season 2 of Luke Cage. He will likely be a semi-regular similar to how Mike Colter (Luke Cage) was in Jessica Jones.

    - The FINAL “Justice League” trailer is set to be revealed on Sunday at 9:00 am ET. The trailer is said to feature new footage including that of the re-shoots done by new director Joss Whedon. With the New York Comic Con taking place, a special “Justice League” display has overtaken Times Square in New York which features the films real Batmobile.

    - No “Infinity War” trailer with the release of “The Inhumans” on ABC. Only assumption left is that it drops November 3rd ahead of “Thor: Ragnarok”.

    - 20 years after “Titanic”, director James Cameron and academy award winning actress Kate Winslet reunite as she has been cast in a major role in the “Avatar” sequels. Ther is no confirmation as to which sequel she will debut in however Avatar 2, 3 and 4 are all filming back to back.

    - The 9th “Fast & Furious” film has been pushed back to 2020 due to unforeseen production delays so Universal will release the yet untitled spin off featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham in 2019 in the original “Furious” slot. Not everyone was too happy about this announcement however as Tyrese Gibson was negative on The Rock getting a spinoff on his Instagram account bashing him for “breaking up the family” and doing his own thing. As of this writing, it is still up.
