T.G.I.F. with Matt Dawgs: #418

Good day to you all and welcome to We Want Insanity. I am your host for today, Matt Dawgs and this is my column. Today is the end of the work week and the time to look back at all the goings-on over the past seven days as I wrap it up with a bow and spout it out bit by bit. Buckle up. Enjoy the ride.

IMPORTANT MATT NOTE:: I am hoping that you readers have taken the time to lend a hand and donated to the JAIDAN STRONG cause for me. I’d really appreciate it if you did; as little as $5 can go a long way. If not, it isn’t a big deal but please at least SHARE THE LINK. I get that finances can be tough for some but taking the time to share a link via your social media doesn’t cost a dime. I’d appreciate it greatly as one of your friends or family members may be able to help out. Thanks.

- After 11 years, Kurt Angle stepped inside a WWE ring as a competitor and wrestled at the TLC PPV on Sunday teaming with WWE Tag Team Champions Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to take on the team of Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Kane and Braun Strowman. It was very obvious that Angle was a little rusty although it being a brawl and all, he was capable of covering it up and looked good out there. The crowd was into him big time and he did have a few shine moments where he hit his trademark spots including the rolling german suplexes and angle slams. His team won in the end after the patented Shield Triple Powerbomb.

- By the way when Angle announced his return to the ring on Twitter, Daniel Bryan replied with: “Interesting…..” and then put the thinking face emoji.

- Braun Strowman turned babyface apparently as Kane turned on him and “destroyed” him on for him to keep coming back for revenge. The remainder of his team turned on him as well with Miz, Sheamus and Cesaro all turning on him before eventually throwing him in the back of a garbage truck and “killing him” by crushing him to death.

- I’d never thought I’d see the day where a “This is murder, this is murder” chant break out at a WWE show.

- Finn Balor defeated A.J. Styles in an excellent match and what was the match of the show. It is definitely poor booking though since A.J. is coming off of losing his U.S. Title to Baron Corbin and is supposed to be challenging for the WWE Title against Jinder Mahal soon. Not a strong title challenger with the constant losses.

- They did show love after the match by doing the “Too Sweet” hand gesture. Awesome.

- Asuka made her main roster debut and it was NOT in spectacular fashion. I legit thought the whole point of Emma getting the chance to face her in the debut was meant for Asuka to squash her since Emma, despite being super talented, Emma was the most expendable on the Raw roster that could have a good match since Alicia Fox would have looked terrible and probably gotten injured. Obviously they didn’t want to go to Sasha Banks, Bayley, Alexa Bliss or Nia Jax right away so Emma made the most sense. Instead of showcasing Asuka though, they had a longer than necessary competitive match. It wasn’t bad by any means but it wasn’t what her debut should have been.

- Oh yeah, before I forget, F*CK WWE-SPEAK. 2 days into Asuka being on the main roster and I am already sick and f*cking tired of “Empress of Tomorrow”. Holy sh*t did they beat that into the ground already. Wow.

- Glad to see Mickie James point out what I pointed out multiple times. The whole Mickie James is old thing makes zero sense since she isn’t even the oldest female on the roster as that distinction goes to Tamina and there are a TON of guys who are her age or older as well like John Cena, Triple H, Shinsuke Nakamura, .

- The following night after TLC was RAW live from Green Bay Wisconsin. The show started off WHITE HOT with a PPV quality match of The Miz, Sheamus & Cesaro vs. Rollins, Ambrose and the rented from Smackdown A.J. Styles. The match was better than everything the night before including Balor vs. A.J. then……..

- RAW fell off a cliff. Holy f*cking sh*t what the hell happened? Can anyone in their right mind explain to me why the f*ck did Kane come out and destroy Ambrose, Rollins and A.J. and then immediately following a promo completely SQUASH FINN BALOR?!?!?! There are so many goddamn people on the RAW roster and in developmental to use, why squash Finn? They could have used Matt Hardy. They could have used Jason Jordan. They could have used Goldust. They could have used Gallows. They could have used Karl Anderson. They could have used R-Truth. Just 24 hours before they had Balor get a HUGE momentum swing by beating A.J. Styles clean, A.J. who by the way shouldn’t have lost since he is being groomed for Jinder Mahal in the WWE Title picture over on Smackdown. If they had absolutely no choice and felt compelled to have Balor lose, then he shouldn’t have beaten A.J. the night before. By the way, it isn’t as if Kane needed that win. He could have jumped Balor after a win over someone else. He doesn’t need the boost to look like a monster since for Christ’s sake he killed Braun Strowman the night before. Plus for his entire career he has always been flexible enough as a star/character to be put in and out of the main event picture seamlessly with no extra motivation needed. One week he would be making jokes with Daniel Bryan and the next week he would be in the title picture. He never needed to be built up for anything.

- And the show closing angle….I’m completely torn by it. On one hand, it was a good visual seeing all of the Smackdown guys on RAW and beating people up. It gave unpredictability to the show and a fresh feel. On the other hand, it didn’t make much sense. Is Shane now a heel? Is Nakamura? A.J.? Is Randy Orton a babyface for not participating? Are Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler now cool since they were standing side by side on Team Blue? Is Becky no longer friends with Bayley and Sasha because she seemed to be most vocal when they confronted the Raw women? How come the Usos didn’t show up? All unanswered questions that made no sense. The beat downs could have been better too. Remember when WWE used to have awesome backstage brawls, one of which saw Big Show throw Raven through a backstage window?

- Oh…and having Balor get beat up in the locker room like a geek with the rest of the geeks was mind blowing. He got no offense in. Ambrose and Rollins went out like troopers fighting before they were overtaken. Balor just got his ass kicked in the locker room. Oh? You didn’t see it? Well good then because he was the first person attacked after Gable laid out his old tag team partner Jason Jordan. He and Matt Hardy came out of the bathroom and got destroyed.

- Speaking of build ups, Asuka Day 2 was worse than Asuka Day 1. For the life of me I cannot fathom why they didn’t have her squash Emma. Emma doesn’t need to be protected and the investment is in Asuka. Yes I am well aware that Emma and Asuka had a solid match in NXT but not for nothing Asuka needed to make an immediate impact right off the bat. The crowd was disinterested in her and I totally see her ending up down the same path as her fellow countrymen Shinsuke Nakamura. Sad.

- Alexa Bliss is awesome. I hope she improves in ring wise as she is talented but she isn’t in the upper echelon of workers like Asuka, Nattie, Charlotte, Becky, Sasha & Bayley. She is definitely good but not great. What separates her is her character. She is so awesome as a heel and on the mic. Solid GOLD.

- Booking 101 for any guy reading this who plans on starting their own independent promotion one day. WWE is looking like they are going to go with Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James again based on the angle on RAW which saw James lay out Bliss. That would be all well and good if Bliss didn’t beat Mickie the night before…CLEAN. They should have had Bliss win controversially that way you build to a rematch. Who wants to see James get another shot? SHE ALREADY LOST!!!!

- Elias = Heat Magnet. He has the crowd in the palm of his hands. Sadly, he is in the Alexa boat in that his in ring work is passable but not elite. He needs to develop.

- Literally no one on the planet believes that Jinder Mahal is going to beat Brock Lesnar. So how does WWE rectify that fact? They don’t. Instead they have their best talker in the entire company in Paul Heyman come out on RAW and note that he has NEVER trash talked any of Brock Lesnar’s opponents. He noted that he praised Bill Goldberg, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman which in fact he did and I noted at the time that Heyman does more for Brock’s opponents than WWE does in pushing them. He then proceeded to BURY JINDER MAHAL DEAD. He claimed Mahal is a phony, has no shot at winning, etc. This worries me. It worries me because it leads me to believe that Brock is going to lose to Jinder and that is not a good idea. Ugh.

- Did anyone else notice that when Heyman named all of the storied champions in WWE history he left both Steve Austin and The Rock out of the conversation? I found that weird.

- I LOVE IT when Booker T and Michael Cole contradict themselves on commentary. It literally makes my Raw viewing pleasure level go up. During the women’s three way, Sasha Banks had Alicia Fox in the Bank Statement and Cole noted that since it is a three way, Fox grabbing the rope meant nothing since it is no DQ and literally after he said that sentence, Booker states that Fox needs to get to the ropes to break the hold. LOLOLOLZ.

- Enzo Amore legit had throat issues and couldn’t speak this week. I am sure there were a ton of happy people in the locker room.

- I do like that the #UnderSiege angle is leading to beef between Shane and Daniel Bryan. That is interesting. I really hope Bryan sticks around and gets cleared. As much as I’d love to see him back in ROH and in New Japan against Okada, Omega, Naito, etc., he is worth far more in WWE and with the roster as depleted as it is from a star power standpoint, he would shine as WWE finally knows what they have in him and can stick him in a perennial main event slot.

- Zayn is GREAT as a heel and his match with Orton was fantastic. That being said, 50/50 booking does nothing for anyone. Any momentum that Zayn got by beating Orton last week is now gone since he lost clean to Orton this week. Orton did not need the win. At all.

- As mentioned by Kurt Angle on RAW, there will be a Raw vs. Smackdown women’s match at Survivor Series. This is being done because the originally scheduled Horsewomen vs. Horsewomen match is going to take place at Wrestlemania. While nothing has been formally announced or confirmed by anyone in the company, this is a lock as Ronda Rousey was at the WWE Performance Center all this week training. The idea to for her, Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler to all train between now and then.

- The ratings this week painted the perfect picture of why a 3 hour show isn’t a great idea. RAW ratings took a plummet in the last hour as usual despite the much taled about closing angle of Smackdown coming to beat up RAW (despite it making no sense). This is proven now because of the fact that Smackdown saw a HUGE uptick in the ratings for their first hour based on people hearing about the RAW angle word of mouth and wanting to see the follow up to it.

- No word on the health of Bray Wyatt, Bo Dallas, Jojo Offerman or Roman Reigns other than that they will not be back until a doctor deems them healthy and no longer contagious. They woll not be tested again for about 8 days meaning this weekend. Weird that Reigns fell into that illness category. Does anyone know if he was working with Wyatt or Dallas on live events? I don’t think so. I cannot imagine any other way Reigns caught their illness since he isn’t around them. Other than….you know. LOL.

- Triple H worked a rare WWE Live Event last weekend in Santiago Chile as he flew in to be “star power” and replace Kevin Owens who had to fly home for a family emergency. HHH took on Rusev for the event and was by far the most popular guy on the entire show.

- Whatever the emergency was for Owens, thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Owens did tweet out a thank you to his friends, fans and family for all of the outpouring of support during his time and his wife also thanked everyone during this “trying time”. No details on what the situation is other than the fact that it is being sorted out and things are looking up for the Owens family as witnessed by his return to Smackdown earlier this week.

- Still nothing official but Neville has been removed from the opening of 205 Live.

- According to Sports Illustrated, Nia Jax took a “leave of absence” away from WWE due to being asked to lose to Sasha Banks cleanly at the TLC PPV. Jax, feeling that she has already lost to Banks several times cleanly balked at the idea of losing again. She then called her cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for advice and he told her that if she felt strongly enough about it to walk away. So she did.

- Congrats to the Miz and Maryse as they revealed that they are expecting a baby girl. They are also being considered for their own spin off of Total Divas titled “The It Couple” for E!. It will follow their life in Hollywood, their celebrity friends and life in WWE.

- Former WWE Diva Kaitlyn revealed that she was addicted to drugs during her time away from WWE and went through a drug detox program to get clean following the breakup of her awful marriage.

- There is currently a LONG back and forth going on via Twitter between Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Chris Jericho stemming from a fan noting that after watching Omega/Okada 3 “We can forget Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega is the best in the world”. Jericho actually replied by saying that “Omega’s not the best in the world and he’s not even the best wrestler from Winnipeg.” There was then more back and forth with Jericho ultimately saying that it doesn’t count if you’re not in the big leagues and Omega can’t claim he has had the match of the year if no one has saw it. For the record, I 100% think this is all a work and while Jericho is NOT going to go to New Japan, he may actually wrestle on his cruise in October of 2018 for Ring of Honor and likely against Omega. That is what they are building to. Jericho is NOT under contract to WWE right now and he has made it abundantly clear he won’t be wrestling for anyone other than WWE. Since it is his cruise though, I can see him doing a one off especially if it is a chance to work against Omega.

- The reason WWE hasn’t begun their U.K. show yet despite singing all of their talents and creating a title is that they are looking for a U.K. network to pay them for programming rather than they pay for it themselves and put it on the WWE Network. The goal is to make revenue from the show in TV rights fees similar to Raw, Smackdown, etc. They are currently in talks with ITV right now.

- The reason NXT is going with Drew McIntyre vs. Adam Cole at the NXT Live Event the night before WAR GAMES with Shawn Michaels appearing as special referee is due to Ring of Honor running the same night in San Antonio. ROH chose that date knowing it was piggybacking off WWE being in town for the PPV and knowing NXT would run their Takeover show on Friday. NXT then decided to run a live event Thursday against ROH just miles apart from each other.

- One more week has passed and it is one more week that Nikki Bella has survived on Dancing with the Stars. She is tied for 4th again 10 teams remaining in active competition.

- WWE is looking to make the January 12, 2018 Raw from the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn a MAJOR event as it is the 25th Anniversary of RAW.

WWE SURVIVOR SERIES PPV is on Sunday, November 19th 2017 from Houston Texas and the line-up is as follows:

  • WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPION: Brock Lesnar © w/Paul Heyman vs. WWE CHAMPION: Jinder Mahal © w/The Singh Brothers
  • WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION: The Miz © w/Curtis Axel vs. WWE U.S. CHAMPION: Baron Corbin ©
  • RAW VS. SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S ELIMINATION MATCH: Team Raw (Alicia Fox/Sasha Banks/Bayley/Mickie James/Nia Jax) vs. Team Smackdown ( Becky Lynch/Charlotte/Carmella/Tamina/Naomi)

    - On Monday, Anthem Sports and Entertainment released the following press release: “Impact Wrestling announced today that it has terminated its business relationship with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling effective immediately.” I swear it is a merry go round with this f*cking company. How long until Vince Russo or Dixie Carter are back with the promotion until Billy Corgan comes along trying to bail them out? SMH.

    - With Jarrett gone, his wife Karen is also gone. So essentially all of those in power during the last seat of television tapings i.e. Jeff, Karen, Jim Cornette and Bruce Prichard are no longer with the company so at the next tapings, we will not have any authority figures.

    - Jarrett’s departure comes from this past weekend where he was scheduled to wrestle at an independent show in Canada. He had a double shot with this promotion and during the first show, he passed out backstage and was under no condition to perform despite still going out to perform it was obvious he was not of sound mind. The next day, he informed them that the border patrol had made him go back home which when contacting the border patrol, the promotion was informed that they had no idea what he was talking about. So essentially he no showed the 2nd date despite being paid. This was in fact a TNA booking and Jarrett was supposed to be getting treatment during his time off so that was the straw that broke the camel’s back and they decided to part ways.

    - Jarrett’s match was recorded and as you can tell, not everyone is “home” for him. VIDEO HERE.

    - Due to last weekend’s situation and an intervention from his wife and close friends, Jarrett has contacted WWE and has begun a stay at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. Say what you want about WWE but even with Jarrett’s past with the company, they are still paying for his rehab stint. No telling how long his stay will be for but glad to see that he realized there was an issue and that he is getting the help he needs.

    - Jarrett is not taking any independent bookings until he is released. He has cancelled off of his Wrestlecade shows in North Carolina next month where he was scheduled for an autograph signing as well as working the wrestling card of the weekend against Ryback.

    - She came back from her retirement and by the way she dressed upon her comeback despite saying she found God and was no longer interested in portraying a sex symbol, Taryn Terrill is once again gone from wrestling and she and Impact have parted ways. It is a shame because she had worked to improve and she was absolutely one of the best female characters on the roster. WWE obviously is NOT going to sign her based on her departure from the company and the fact that her ex-husband Drew McIntyre is there. The claim on television is what she was injured when Gail Kim slapped her and injured her jaw that is preventing her from being medically cleared. The real reason however is that she is banned from going to Canada due to a legal issue and thus they had to write her out. She would be missing the Bound for Glory PPV and the next two months of television since she cannot go therefore she could return down the road if they tape back in the U.S. again. As of now however, they are considering running exclusively in Canada for TV moving forward.

    - Ring announcer Dave Penzer is also gone as he was let go as a cost cutting measure. For those who do not get it, Anthem is running low on funds and low on patience. If they do not turn things around soon, they may cut the cord.

Ring of Honor / Lucha Underground / Independent / International News and Notes:

    - Jimmy Jacobs returns to one of his original homes of Combat Zone Wrestling on November 11th. Jacobs has made it clear that he has no issues with WWE and is just happy to be performing again.

    - We will be having the Briscoes face off with Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer at Final Battle in December after Mark chose sides and helped his brother Jay put Bully Ray down with a 3D. The match would have meant much more if it was Devon teaming with Bully. Just saying.

    - Kenny Omega has been added to the ROH “Survival of the fittest” show in San Antonio that is going head to head with NXT’s live event the night before Takeover: War Games. ROH is really looking to compete with NXT that night.

    - The Young Bucks are awesome. A fan tweeted them (along with a bunch of other wrestlers) asking for a retweet for his “Go Fund Me” in which he was looking to raise funds for his son’s wheelchair which needed replacing as it was 6 years old and falling apart. Nick Jackson replied that “We can do better than that” and ended up covering the entire cost of the wheelchair. Awesome.

    - By the way, The Bucks aren’t only awesome people but they are awesome parents. Nick Jackson is scheduled for ROH’s “Soaring Eagle Cup” tournament tomorrow but Matt Jackson will not be at the show because it is his daughter’s birthday and he wanted to spend the day with her.

    - We will see how it comes across on television but apparently 75% of the audience at the latest television tapings were said to be wearing Bullet Club shirts. Since ROH only draws about a thousand people, it is going to be significantly noticeable on television.

    - Tickets for WrestleKingdom 12 have went on sale. They allocated a certain amount of tickets/travel packages for American’s only and that block of tickets/packages has sold out. WOW.

    - Tickets are selling at a much faster pace than last year which saw attendance of 40,000. The Toyko Dome holds about 55,000 and has NOT sold out in several years for WrestleKindom despite coming close.

    - Despite wrapping up his independent dates soon as he has told promoters he is NOT taking any bookings past mid-January, Ricochet shocked the world and defeated Chuck Taylor to capture the PWG World title at All Star Weekend. This is significant because despite wrapping up, he became the first person ever to win the Battle of Los Angeles tournament twice and now captured the title.

    - Ricochet is officially done with Lucha Underground now that Ultimo Lucha Tres has aired. The show ended with him losing a “loser must retire” match to Pentagon. He then left the temple and as he was exiting, took off his mask with his back to the camera and left it thus leaving the “Prince Puma” character so someone could take the mantle if the promotion returns.

    - Rey Mysterio is also done as his character is in “jail”. He isn’t expected to return should the promotion find funding.

    - Major props to former WWE Star Harry Smith Jr. (Son of “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith) as he saved a woman from committing suicide last week in Calgary. He saw a distraught woman crying on a bridge with someone talking to her. He stopped his car and went to try and talk her down before grabbing her and pulling her over the rail. He then pinned her down and talked to her until help arrived.

    - For those of you familiar with Mick Foley’s first book or Cliff Compton’s appearances on Colt Cabana’s podcast, you have heard of the Nigerian superstar Power Uti. Well Uti was arrested last week in Lagos for the murder of his wife. Uti called police to his home claiming he found her dead on the floor but following an investigation it was determined that he beat her to death and left her body to decompose for 6 days before reporting it. Uti faces the death penalty if convicted.

ROH “FINAL BATTLE” PPV is on Saturday, December 15th, 2017 from New York City and the line-up is as follows:

  • ROH TITLE: Cody © vs. Dalton Castle
  • The Briscoes (Mark & Jay) vs. Bully Ray & Tommy Dreamer IN A STREET FIGHT
  • ROH TV TITLE: Kenny King © vs. Punishment Martinez vs. Silas Young vs. Shane Taylor
  • Marty Scurll vs. Jay Lethal
  • The Addiction (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) vs. War Machine (Hanson & Rowe)
  • ROH TAG TEAM TITLES: The Motor City Machine Guns © (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelly) vs. The Kingdom (Matt Taven & T.K. O’Ryan) vs. Chuckie T & Trent Baretta
  • MMA News and Notes:

    - Darren Till had a star making performance against “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone last weekend in Poland. WOW. He completely dominated Cerrone with his unorthodox style and pummeled him into a TKO win in the first round. Till, who made weight at 170lbs., claims he came into the cage at 200 lbs. which is 30 pounds over what he weighed in at.

    - Even Cerrone complemented Till following the fight and noted that Till “broke the f*ck out of my nose.”

    - Cerrone is on a 3 fight losing streak. Usually in UFC that means someone is getting cut but due to his history and popularity, he will fight again. The issue is however, are his skills declining? Is he not fighting at 100%? Is he fighting too often without enough rest? All valid questions that need answers.

    - In discussing their upcoming television negotiations, Dana White noted that UFC is willing to negotiate with streaming platforms and online services to air UFC. They are not just relying on television networks if the right offer would come along. He noted that over-the-top streaming and internet services is where the future of television is going.

    - White also noted that he believes that UFC will eventually get into the boxing promoting business one day. Considering he witnessed fight hand the power of Floyd Mayweather and promoting, I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t.

    - Demetrious Johnson FINALLY drew something. His title defense against Ray Borg exceeded expectations and the new estimate is that it drew 250,000 PPV buys. UFC originally thought it would do 100,000 or less.

    - The career of Antonio Rogeiro Nogueira may be over as he was pulled from his UFC fight on December 16th as he was flagged by USADA for having a diuretic in his system. He denies that he has ever used one but with that being said, unless he can prove that he took a tainted supplement or that his B-sample is clean, he will likely get a 2 year suspension. At age 41, missing 2 years means certain retirement from MMA.

    - Conor McGregor used a gay slur this week. I am only writing this here because I have seen this headline all over MMA sites. I can just leave a placeholder sentence in my column each week saying “Conor McGregor was in the news this week sparking controversy when…..FILL IN THE BLANK. In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue.” This isn’t news. Conor McGregor is NOT a homophobe. He talks and says things. That’s it.

    - Bellator MMA is looking into extending main events into 5 round contests like UFC currently does.

    - Gegard Mousasi won his Bellator debut in controversial fashion as he won a decision over Alexander Shlemenko however most felt he lost that fight. With the win and based on his career history, he will likely get the next Bellator Middleweight Title shot.

UFC 217 is Saturday, November 3rd, 2017 from New York, New York and the line-up is as follows:

  • UFC WOMEN’S STRAWWEIGHT TITLE: Joanna Jerdzejczyk © vs. Rose Namajunas
  • Johnny Hendricks vs. Paulo Borrachinha

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week: Absolutely terrible that this boy wasn’t reported missing by anyone meaning that he was likely killed and no one knows who he is. Chances are he was an illegal coming into the country and therefore his parents are here illegally and don’t want to report him missing. Or he was involved in some sort of human trafficking ring?

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 1: Aaron Hernandez died a free man. Craziness.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 2: I don’t understand why no one on his staff will shut down his twitter account. Mind blowing. He continues to make an ass of himself over things. Why would he think it is smart or ok to argue with the wife of a fallen U.S. soldier?

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 3: I knew there was more to this story and that his alleged story to police absolutely did not hold up.

    - BONUS Random ARTICLE of the week PART 6: Some family lineage they have huh? F*cking animals. Hope he meets his brother soon. By the way, their dad was a bank robber and was on the FBI’s most wanted list for almost 10 years.

    - As a disclaimer on the above articles, I have NOT had the time to read through anything JFK related yet as there are TONS of articles on the release of the documents pertaining to his assassination. It is just way too much information to sort through. If anything relevant comes from them, I will post it here next week.

    - If you are a fan of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and forgot, the entire season 2 is now available for streaming/viewing.

    - The Walking Dead returned this past Sunday and I have been seeing a lot of complaints on the episode. The show I thought was very good. Listen, we aren’t going to get main characters dying off each and every week. There is such thing as storyline development and character development and this show is one of the best of all time on television in showing that. Let things build. We are going to get our “All Out War” and main characters are going to die this season. It did NOT need to happen all in the first episode. I am good with it. With that being said, I am also anxious to see the two separate flash forwards. For those of you who have read the comics, you should know where the one with Old Man Rick is leading too and the “surprise” that is coming when they reveal it. The middle flash forward will likely be the mid-season finale and will feature a death of a main character. My bet is on Maggie because I don’t think Rick will be mourning so badly over anyone else. Maybe Darryl? We know Carl, Judith and Michonne make it since they are in the future flash forward.

    - Deadline has confirmed that Vincent D’Onofrio will be reprising his role as Wilson Fisk a.k.a. “The Kingpin” for season 3 of Daredevil.

    - From what I understand, Wally West is in fact gone from the Flash. He will make a few guest appearances but he is no longer a full time cast member. That is disappointing. I liked him.

    - Justice League has been confirmed to be the DCU’s shortest cinematic film to date with a run time of 2 hours and 1 minute. As of this writing it is trending towards a $120 million opening weekend which will be incredible for WB and the DCU if they hit that number.

    - WB revealed that “Shazam” is set to begin production in May 2018 for an April 2019 release.

    - With all the changes that were made to “The Batman”, it appears that Deathstroke will no longer play one of Batman’s adversaries in the film. With that being said, things aren’t all bleak for actor Joe Manganiello as Deadline reveals that WB is planning on moving ahead with a solo “Deathstroke” film starring the actor with director Gareth Evans attached to write and direct the film.

    - Apparently T’Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the Black Panther for several years now as he was granted the mantle of the panther around the same time that Tony Stark came out as Iron Man. So it has been almost a decade of him being the warrior for Wakanda.

    - I just found out that actor Dougray Scott was originally cast as Wolverine in the X-Men movie franchise but was forced to pass as he was filming Mission Impossible 2 at the time and filming ran over so he had to drop out of the project; a then little known actor named Hugh Jackman was then cast in the role instead and became an “A-List” celebrity because of it. Wow.

    - NBC’s “This Is Us” is such a well written show. Great stuff.

    - As many of you know, I used to be a hardcore fan of ABC’s “General Hospital” soap opera. I must say after taking a long hiatus from the show, I recently began watching to coincide with the Steve Burton return to the show as fan favorite Jason Morgan and holy sh*t, this has been some of the best writing the show has ever seen. Fantastic storyline that they kind of lucked into due to writing from many seasons ago.

    - Actress Gabrielle Union is set to reprise her role in a Bad Boys TV spinoff set to revolve around her character from the film, DEA agent Sydney Burnett, sister of Detective Marcus Burnett played by Martin Lawrence. This however does NOT squash plans for “Bad Boys 3” starring Lawrence and Will Smith which is still in talks to be developed.
