The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars 3 - Episode 4

By James Bullock May 14, 2018 - 8:09 AM print

Previously on “The Challenge Champs vs. Stars”: The Red Team continued their winning ways together while the Champs strategize a way to ensure the Stars believe they’re all working for the same goal as they sent in Shane and saved him from the Elimination Round following Hennessy’s removal from the game after an outburst against Devin convinced her to quit.

After discovering the reason why Drake Bell loves steak so much, Brooke takes a call from her dad. CT walks over and starts having a moment.

From one wrestler to another, host The Miz introduces everyone to this week’s Team Challenge, “Face Off”: a game where the players will have to kick a single ball at least ten yards in hopes of getting it into the scoring zone for their team while both sides use giant emoji balls to either block the kicker or help their teammate succeed. The Red Team is up first and Jozea, Selita (who couldn’t even kick the ball the necessary ten yards), Shane, Kailah, nor Lil Mama can score any points. When it’s time for the Blue Team to start, Aneesa gets knocked out of bounds while Ashley gets curb stomped!

No pain, no gain and Ashley jumps right back up ready for more. Louise, Drake, Tony and Wes can’t gain a point either, but Wes comes incredibly close by having Casper protecting him. Brooke decides to sit this round out and Ashley is the first up for the Red Team to get knocked down by Casper; infuriating Ashley in the process. When CT starts running for his turn, Aneesa gets knocked across the field and potentially sprains her ankle.

Casper is the last player up for the Blue Team.

With Casper gaining that point and winning the entire thing for his team, there’s a good chance he’ll be the MVP. Thanks to CT’s Power Play last week, Selita is immune to being put into this week’s Elimination Round. While Wes & Louise are hurdling, the two are figuring out what they should do about the MVP and how far they can go together. Casper is very determined to be the MVP even though it’s a girl’s week. CT actually makes Brooke cry for not understanding why she quit in the game. Aneesa actually returns to showcase her wrapped up leg as what appeared to be a sprain is actually a lot worse and it turns out that with her injury Aneesa is out of the game; meaning no Elimination Round this week. Even though Aneesa has to leave, she gets a donation for her charity (RAINN). But a MVP must still be chosen and Louise chooses herself; causing Wes to go rouge and vote for Casper. Casper doesn’t tie up the vote and gives Louise the chance to use the Power Play of “Trade”: one member from each team will be switched. Tori is cast from the Blue Team while Ashley is taken from the Red Team. Ashley flips out.

Absolutely stone-faced, The Miz calmly asks Louise her reasoning behind the trade after Ashley’s outburst, only for Ashley to state she’s throw every Challenge for her new team to set the stage for an exciting next episode where we have no idea how the next Team Challenge will play out.

Episode High(s): Whose Got Big Balls? This week’s Team Challenge not only showed intestinal fortitude (or lack thereof when it comes to Brooke backing out and not getting any recourse for her actions, you had people like Drake & Aneesa taking big hits, Casper sprinting like a pro, and Ashley going ham on her new teammates. Who knew when Hennessy leaving would open the door for Hurricane Ashley to return to “The Challenge”?

Episode Low(s): Backing Out Brooke. Nothing is more disappointing than someone quitting in “The Challenge”. Hennessy did it last week, but at least it was after trying to help her team win. Brooke got scared of a possibility and potentially cost her team the win this week.

MVP: Louise

Team Challenge Winner: Blue Team (2-2)

Eliminations: Arian (Episode 1); Kam (Episode 2); Hennessy (Episode 3); Anessa (Episode 4)

Most Embarrassing Athletic Display: Selita. While the lovely model was unable to score a point like a majority of her fellow competitors, she’s the only one who didn’t get on the field to see if she could run the ball as her weak kick didn’t even send the ball into the necessary range. At least she never said she could kick like a pro and was embarrassed by falling short, but she did fall way too short.

Competitor of the Week: Casper. Though he didn’t get the MVP for understandable reasons considering it was a girl’s Elimination day, Casper was the only one able to pull out a point for his team. Heck, Casper was the only person to get a point out of anyone.

Episode Summary in Five Words or Less: Backing out & breaking down.
