The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars 3 - Episode 7

By James Bullock Jun 1, 2018 - 7:59 AM print

Previously on “The Challenge Champs vs. Stars”: Following the Elimination Round where Kailah sent Ashley home, host The Miz dropped a bombshell of an announcement by declaring from this moment going forward the teams would be broken down into duos.

The episode picks up where the last left off as new teams are made starting with Tony choosing fellow team leader CT as his partner; followed by Daniel picking Wes. Louise-Casper, Drake-Kailah, Brooke-Shane, Lil Mama-Tori, & Jozea-Selita make up the remaining teams with the latter featuring two people who don’t like each other as competitors as Selita was trying to get Jozea out of the game. Nick & Linda Hogan actually come visit; encouraging Brooke & Shane to be the best tag team in the game. But it’s Casper & Louise planning how they can get all the Stars in the finale. Unfortunately for Selita, she won’t find solace in being a tag team with Jozea as he revels he can’t swim and wouldn’t you know it today’s Team Challenge is “Go Deep”: a game where each team must solve a maze by pushing a ring around some twisted up bars placed underwater. Teams Louise & Casper take on Drake & Kailah for the first round and the water’s deepness proves to be the determining factor in the prior overcoming their opponents.

The Miz reminds everyone that this Challenge can only last thirty minutes before a team is disqualified. When Jozea hits the water he immediately starts flopping like a fish out of water. With Selita being unable to go deep enough, it’s a one-sided display as Brooke & Shane are run through the maze like they were made for this. Selita decides she has to work on her own if she wants to complete this Challenge, but the time isn’t in her favor.

Lil Mama & Tori have to take on Wes & Daniel and Mama follows Tori’s lead while Daniel does the same with Wes. Both teams succeed even through Mama couldn’t swim and didn’t let that stop her. Last but not least is CT & Tony trying to conquer this Challenge; solving the maze in grand fashion. But the end result is Shane & Brooke pulling out the best overall time to choose this week’s MVP while being immune to elimination nomination. After many debates & discussions about what could happen during the nominations and Brooke & Shane explaining why they chose their charities to play for – PETA & True Colors Fund respectively – it’s determined Shane will be this week’s MVP. MVP Shane decides the Least Valuable Team that will be entering The Arena is Louise & Casper. When it comes to choosing their opposing team, Lil Mama & Tori can’t agree with whom they should vote for between Selita & Jozea or CT & Tony. Thanks to The Miz picking a coin, Mama gets to vote for Tony & CT. The same thing happens when Drake & Kailah have to nominate someone with Kailah getting the vote for Selita & Jozea. The shows ends on a cliffhanger as Daniel can’t decide if he should go with Wes’ plan or let The Miz choose a representative to decide.

Episode High(s): The New Challengers. Last week’s bombshell of new two-person teams being the new thing was made even better by the actual teams that came from this announcement as it caused so much conflict, a lot of politicking, and a cliffhanger that could divide even the strongest alliances. Also kudos to Jozea – yeah he did a terrible job, but at least he tried even if it meant that he could’ve drowned in the process.

Episode Low(s): Teams Divided Already. Well it didn’t take long before the Champs & Stars duos started finding purposes of frictions even if it comes at the detriment of their team. There’s a chance teams like Kailah & Drake might not last long if they can’t get on the same page.

MVP: Shane ($2,950)

Team Challenge Winner: Brooke & Shane

Eliminations: Arian (Episode 1); Kam (Episode 2); Hennessy (Episode 3); Anessa (Episode 4); Devin (Episode 5); Ashley (Episode 6)

Most Embarrassing Athletic Display: Jozea. Yes, Jozea faced his fears and tried to complete the Team Challenge, but he still was terrible trying to swim and lost everything for his team.

Competitor of the Week: Shane. Not only because Shane was this week’s MVP, but also because he helped his team pull off a big win while playing the politic game Brooke just isn’t interested in getting involved in even though it is crucial to the success of their team. Shane has really become a force in this season.

Episode Summary in Five Words or Less: Champs vs. Stars forever (forever).
