The Challenge: Dirty 30 - Episode 7

By James Bullock Aug 31, 2017 - 9:13 AM print

Previously on The Challenge: Following a controversial insult directed toward Jemmye, Jordan put his neck on the chopping block; only surviving to fight another day by defeating Ammo in the Presidio to eliminate the latter and possibly put Ammo in the hospital.

The episode picks up where the last left off as the second half of the Elimination Round featuring blindfolded competitors going head to head in “Striptease” – a game based around ripping five patches off of their opponent’s jumpsuit. With Ammo confirmed alive & being hydrated, the ladies take the stand as Tori & Marie have to do battle to see who will stay in the house. Unlike the guys’ heat, the battle is completely one-sided as Tori just runs through her.

In another surprising twist, The Redemption House isn’t closed as Marie gets the chance to potentially make a comeback. Ammo, on the other hand, opts to go home. But there’s another game going on in this challenge, one of potential love as Aneesa starts putting those claws into Veronica who, ironically enough, used to date Aneesa’s ex and fellow “Challenge” veteran Rachel back during the series’ early days.

But forget all that lovey stuff, it’s time for the Daily Challenge as five teams of four have to work together in swinging from a rope, placing the logos of thirty “Challenge” seasons on a towering pole. Having someone like CT, Aneesa, or Veronica on a team would be greatly beneficial, and that proves true with Veronica smartly keeping known first ten to the end. While everyone is planning, Camila is being thrown into the pole by her team.

It becomes a sprint to figure out who is or isn’t right and copying with the team featuring CT takes first place. Veronica figures out the first two logos are out of order, getting 2nd place. Aneesa’s team gets third place and rolls her ankle during the celebration. So Johnny Bananas – the guy who has been in fifteen of thirty “Challenge” seasons – comes in last place. Everyone returns to the house for Elimination Round nominations. Cory is easily chosen for the guys, as is Aneesa due to her hurt ankle according to those who vote her in. When it’s time to determine who will be their opponents for the evening, Nicole & Jordan pick the “Double Cross” to send in Kailah & Hunter (one of Cory’s friends) respectively. Their Elimination Round match is called “Dead Weight” – a game where the competitors have to climb a ladder with two heavy weights chained to their ankles.

The girls are up first and Aneesa starts off strong, making it halfway up the ladder before she starts slowing down. Kailah stays consistent and takes over to pull out the victory. But with The Redemption House still taking visitors there’s a chance Aneesa will come back, but we won’t know until next week.

Episode High(s): Ladies Night. Really, the women of this season’s “Challenge” have put people on notice in more ways than one (look no further than Aneesa’s ankle injury and the tense nomination voting). But what is really impressive are the showcases during Daily Challenges & Elimination Rounds. Tori obliterated Marie. Kailah survived another Elimination Round. In-between it all was Veronica leading her team in an essential trivia challenge. It used to be a time when “The Challenge” was all about the guys trying to get rid of the girls to create the strongest teams possible. That is definitely not the case any longer.

Episode Low(s): Outta Ammo. While it’s understandable how someone could decide to step out when given the chance because of the strenuous nature of “The Challenge”, the fact remains this season is built on twists & returns, and Ammo let a good chunk of change potentially get away when he could relaxed in The Redemption House before returning and possibly getting back in the game.

Daily Challenge Winners: Leroy, Camila, Cara Maria & CT.

Eliminations: Darrell (Episode 5), Amanda (Episode 5), Devin (Episode 5), Latoya (Episode 5), Derrick H. (Episode 5), Briana (Episode 5), Ammo (Episode 6)

Redemption House: Marie

Most Embarrassing Athletic Display: Camila. This is one of those moments that the person who was embarrassed wasn’t responsible for her own actions as Camila’s fate was solely in the hands of three individuals who seemed to enjoy seeing Camila collide with a pole over & over again.

Competitor of the Week: Tori. No one rocked an Elimination Round during this or even the last episode did someone run through an opponent like Tori. While she’s a rookie, she’s already proven to be strong competitor who might take out a few veterans as the season starts to wind down.

Episode Summary in Five Words or Less: Leg tied behind my back.
