The Challenge Dirty 30 - Reunion: Part 1

By James Bullock Nov 17, 2017 - 9:14 AM print

Previously on The Challenge: CT, Camila, Derrick, Cara Maria, Jordan & Tori all finished the Dirty 30 final challenge, only to discover that the winning results wouldn’t be given out until the reunion.

The Miz was here to return to his old stomping grounds to host this grand finale featuring a plethora of veterans who were ready to watch a few recap videos of everything that happened before people like Derrick K. gives his opinion on just how crazy the game has gotten since he was competing full-time, Johnny Bananas states this was the most mentally stressful Challenge yet, CT being unable to initially enter the country, Jenna’s lack of strategy when trying to choose the “Double Cross”, Jordan using bugs to pick the right “Double Cross”, and Cory gunning for veterans including Darrell that eventually caused him to go home.

Cory’s actions put targets on himself and his friends Hunter & Nelson with Jordan leading the charge in hopes of getting rid of them. Leroy reveals that no one knew where Jordan’s loyalties lie before Nelson is questioned about his fight with Derrick where Nelson got sent home – an incident that Nelson, until they replayed the clip, didn’t admit that he was totally to blame for the altercation.

But that wasn’t the only fight seen during the season as Simone and Shane got into it during a stint in the Redemption House. Shane recounts what happened that night, admitting he was wrong for using his stature to frighten a much smaller woman. As they always say there are two sides to every story and, according to Simone, Shane’s side is full of holes as she says Shane not only called her out of her name several times, but also slapped her in the face. Shane doesn’t address the slapping, but does say he told her to, “…shut the f*** up!’ when standing over her. Amanda, who was there, speaks up and says Shane isn’t telling the truth.

After a very tense moment prior to the commercial break, the scene flips to Tori & Derrick H. and their relationship; or now their lack thereof because Tori fell for someone else while Derrick was gone. Derrick throws it out there and says that Tori had sex with Jordan, came home and tried to play pretend before dumping Derrick through falsehoods without admitting what happened – Derrick only found out through text messages & Snapchat sent to him from a random person. Tori flips the script, stating it was Derrick himself that saw, took pictures & sent the photographed messages out to everyone including to himself. Derrick is amazed Tori would claim such a crime on him, though Jordan denies having any knowledge of who sent the messages out and apologizes for doing wrong to Derrick. After two of her former “Are You the One?” cast mates give their opinion’s on Tori’s mental status when it comes to relationships, Bananas drops this gem.

Bananas proves to be something of a psychic as Cory is pulled onto the stage to face the ghosts of his relationships past including Aneesa and Kailah. Both ladies claim they want nothing to do with Cory and didn’t interact with him physically throughout the show (though footage regarding Aneesa & Camila says otherwise). As if Cory isn’t in the hot seat enough, The Miz throws out a hypothetical: F***, Marry, Kill featuring Aneesa (marry), Camila (kill) & Kailah (f***). And just for that The Miz has an award for Cory.

But the real reason anyone is watching is finally here as The Miz introduces the five of six “Dirty 30” finalists (Camila is not here – TJ taking her place) to discover who won this season. Using the “Double Cross” (a single cross represents winners this time around), everyone discovers who took home third place ($15,000).

Unfortunately we won’t know until next week who took home first & second place.

Episode High(s): Expect the Unexpected. Of course the draw when it came to this portion of the reunion (which was a surprise in itself as I thought the reunion would only be a one-part experience similar to almost every one before it) was who won the finale – which produced something unexpected as Tori seemed like a shoe-in to win at least second place given her performance during the finale and her putting Camila behind the eight-ball by handing out time extensions. What was really shocking were the interactions between Tori, Derrick & Jordan as it produced one of the most awkward conversations and reveals in “Challenge” history. It’s hard to believe there will be more controversial fallouts on the same level as what happened here on the next episode beyond the finalist winners.

Episode Low(s): Admit to Your Mistakes. Tying into the love triangle and Tori refusing to do what Jordan did and admit that, yes, they did Derrick dirty was Nelson trying to blame Derrick K. for their fight (not true) and Shane refusing to putting Simone in a position of pure fear while switching up his phrasing when Simone told her side of the story.

Episode Summary in Five Words or Less: The tape doesn’t lie.
