The Challenge Dirty 30: Episode 11

By James Bullock Sep 29, 2017 - 9:23 AM print

Previously on The Challenge: Five competitors took part in, potentially, the final Redemption Challenge to reenter the house after being eliminated with the end result of Hunter & Aneesa getting back in the game.

The show picks up where the last left off with the competitors talking with family members and better halves…. Well, former better half in regards to Hunter when his girlfriend dumps him over the phone. Seriously, girl – you couldn’t wait until he got back and tell him to his face? Hunter needs to get over love lost because it’s time for the next Daily Challenge, “Saved By the Bell” – a game where two teams of four will have to do a lap jumping to & from gigantic bells hovering some twenty feet above the lake. Unfortunately for the two people who don’t get picked for the teams they will enter the Elimination Round automatically. Since Aneesa & Hunter won the Redemption Challenge they get to pick their fellow team captains and by the end of it all Dario & Veronica are left behind to fight for their survival in the Elimination Round. Team Hunter takes on Team Britni featuring Jordan so the potential of Hunter & Jordan can collide. If one doesn’t remember, Hunter put the warning out for Jordan.

Though they don’t collide, Jordan is the only man to make it across for his team while CT & Hunter pull off the victory by getting two out of four with Kailah & Camila hitting the water. Team Aneesa vs. Team Nelson is next with Nelson deciding to lead the way for his team – it doesn’t pan out well.

Johnny Bananas follows Nelson’s lead; leaving Derrick to get Aneesa & Jenna across. Leroy, the man fearful of heights, is the only person who gets across for Team Nelson. Aneesa falls during her jump, but Derrick keeps his composure and assists Jenna to safety to get two people across for Team Aneesa (even catching her in midair and pulling her to safety on the same jump Aneesa failed to complete).

With Team Hunter & Team Aneesa getting two people across it came down to time and Team Hunter got the faster time for the win. Now the big question is who will go into the Elimination Round; and Kailah doesn’t make a case for herself by arguing with Hunter when he brings up the fact she doesn’t like him for being an annoying loudmouth who got his heartbroken not only by his ex-girlfriend, but also Kailah last season. Hunter drops a bomb by saying the reason Kailah hates Camila because Cory chose Camila over Kailah. As if that isn’t enough, Nelson says he wants all the old heads to get gone. Derrick takes exception to Nelson’s words, calling him out. Nelson, obviously inebriated from a night of partying, confronts Derrick and it doesn’t end well for him because he throws a punch.

When security gets between them, Nelson claims Derrick ran up on him! Nelson is sent to a hotel for the night while Derrick tries to figure out why Nelson was so infuriated. The next day rolls around and Nelson’s name is immediately being thrown around for nomination. When it comes down to the announcement as to whom is entering the Presidio, host TJ Lavin tells everyone Nelson is gone from the game. This shakes up everything because Nelson was a sure pick. Now CT has to send someone in from his own alliance … but we won’t know until next week!

Episode High(s): Hard Heads, Soft Behinds. Nelson, Nelson, Nelson – you just shook up the game in the worst way possible. What should’ve been a dull final five to ten minutes or so before the Elimination Nominations was anything but as Nelson started an argument with Derrick that ended in his demise in the game (though he’ll probably be back for another season considering how many times CT got kicked off for beating up someone). This season has definitely had some insane moments outside of the Challenges, and this one was just as wild.

Episode Low(s): A Hunter Scorned. Just when it felt fine to sympathize with Hunter for getting dumped by his girlfriend over the phone he went off on Kailah for not liking him. It was definitely a punk move to insult Kailah for getting used by Cory just because he felt she did him wrong when they weren’t even in a relationship. If karma is real, Hunter definitely got what was coming to him thanks to Nelson acting a fool and now leaving him alone.

Daily Challenge Winners: Hunter, CT, Camila & Kailah

Eliminations: Darrell (Episode 5), Amanda (Episode 5), Devin (Episode 5), Latoya (Episode 5), Derrick H. (Episode 5), Briana (Episode 5), Ammo (Episode 6); Nicole (Episode 10); Marie (Episode 10); Cory (Episode 10); Nelson (Episode 11)

Most Embarrassing Athletic Display: Nelson. This week’s Daily Challenge wasn’t made for the normal athlete and seemed like something out of “Ninja Warrior”. The most embarrassing part of the Challenge was Nelson confidently stepping up to lead the way, only to plummet to his demise (or disqualification – whatever sounds better). Who knew that was the beginning of the end for him?

Competitor of the Week: Derrick. One of the oldest players in the game is still pulling off feats of strength unlike his contemporaries. Though Derrick’s team didn’t win, he did showcase the leadership qualities and, most importantly in the situation, the strength over a man who is still ready to conquer the world.

Episode Summary in Five Words or Less: Into the fire.
