The Challenge Dirty 30: Episode 13

By James Bullock Oct 15, 2017 - 11:10 AM print

Previously on The Challenge: Tony and Veronica sent Dario and Aneesa to the Redemption House by winning the latest Elimination Round. This was topped off by the Daily Challenge where the team of Veronica, Jordan, Britni, Tony & Kailah won the opportunity to send not only a guy-girl pair into the Elimination Round, but also another pair into the Redemption House.

The show picks up where the last left off with the Green Team making their choice to send into the Redemption House. Jordan says CT’s name and begins a domino effect that sends CT into the Redemption House. For the lady to be sent into the Redemption House, CT’s fellow Boston native in Cara Maria gets the team-wide vote.

Aneesa and Dario are understandably concerned about their chances of returning to the game since they will have to battle Cara and CT to do so now. Back in the main house, the Green Team has to decide who will go into the Elimination Round. Kailah, who had no problem sending Cara into the Redemption House, didn’t want to anger Camila, too. This starts a big bit of confusion where Jemmye & Hunter are potential nominees, but nothing is unanimous. Host TJ Lavin arrives to and discovers that Jemmye gets a four to one vote with Britni being the only person to burn her vote. Britni also burns her male vote on Leroy. Tony decides Derrick should go in before Kailah follows Jordan’s lead and votes for Hunter. Instead of giving Hunter the final vote, Veronica throws a figurative curveball and votes for Leroy. Thanks to the tie vote, TJ tells the voters that they will be in the Presidio as well if it’s a tie again. They start throwing out votes and Leroy’s name suddenly starts picking up steam leaving Veronica to break the tie between Leroy and Hunter; going with Leroy in the end.

There is so much confusion coming into the Elimination Round with Jenna potentially having to choose who should battle Jemmye if she pulls the “Double Cross” prior to a game known as “Body Check” – a challenge where two competitors must break through two walls with the intent of ringing a pair of bells on opposite sides of the field, but the twist is on the other side of the barrier is their opponent ready to run through them in this best of three series. But we need to know who will battle Jemmye & Leroy. When it’s time to pull the Xs, Derrick gets it for the guys and puts Hunter in there with Leroy while Jenna gets the “Double Cross” to allow her to put in Camila. Camila is infuriated, saying it was some elaborate plan to get rid of her.

The men are up first and it’s full contact. On the second door, Leroy is a little faster and Hunter gets desperate by hooking his opponent’s leg. The maneuvering works and Hunter wins the first round by .1 seconds. When round two begins, Hunter uses the same strategy from the first round and tries to hold Leroy back long enough for a potential advantage to create another photo finish that eventually sees Hunter attain victory.

With Hunter winning comes the reality of what it took to get there as he jammed his right hand into Leroy’s thigh during the battle, leaving him unable to even make a fist. While Hunter ices his hand down, the women step up for their chance to continue on. Camila completely avoids Jemmye when heading through the first round and easily breaks free & outruns Jemmye when going through the second wall. The second round is just like the first for a relatively easy win for Camila.

Leroy and Jemmye enter the Redemption House for the first time, allowing them to tell everyone else just how devious Veronica, Jenna & Kailah are.

Episode High(s): Never Going as Planned. As predicted coming off the last version and boy did this episode pay off that belief mostly thanks to Veronica proving that a “burn vote” can change the very dynamic of everything (and that’s not even mentioning the Green Team’s decisions). Though the game is winding down that doesn’t mean there won’t be some more interesting twists thanks to the Redemption House still being open and Camila definitely looking for revenge for almost getting eliminated thanks to Kailah & Jenna.

Episode Low(s): Camila’s Reaction. It’s understandable as to why Camila felt betrayed, but this is a game where it comes down to whether or not you want to take on the strongest competitor. Camila has prided herself in being one of the best ever, so why wouldn’t she expect in a fifty-fifty situation to get picked to take on someone who really hasn’t done much to prove herself as a threat in any game she’s been a part of in Jemmye? Camila should’ve been happy for something of a lay-up win before it even happened.

Daily Challenge Winners: N/A

Redemption House: Aneesa, Dario, CT, Cara Maria, Leroy & Jemmye

Eliminations: Darrell (Episode 5), Amanda (Episode 5), Devin (Episode 5), Latoya (Episode 5), Derrick H. (Episode 5), Briana (Episode 5), Ammo (Episode 6); Nicole (Episode 10); Marie (Episode 10); Cory (Episode 10); Nelson (Episode 11)

Most Embarrassing Athletic Display: Jemmye. Though Jemmye seems like the nicest person and has tried hard in every “Challenge” she’s been a part of, she hasn’t been able to pull it together to attain success. Camila literally stepped over her to win this week’s Elimination Round and by the end it seemed like Jemmye was in a different, lower class than all of her competitors who’ve made it thus far.

Competitor of the Week: Hunter. “The Challenge” might have a new big dog rising. Hunter is taking out the competition left & right even if he has to go to the Redemption House to do so. It’s always interesting to see fresh blood step up & see how well they can turn their intentions into reality.

Episode Summary in Five Words or Less: Don’t waste your vote.
